Hi there,

Because of the meta shift (more aggro) i want to turn my fish deck into a white-Fish deck, wich give's me acces to some powerfull removal (Swords to Plowshares) and some combo blockers, which is Meddling Mage. Now i need some help with some problems that have occured. Now I see your thoughts and your reply which say's that Gay/R is much better. I am stil doubting which one is better and I just want to try out this White-Fish decklist.

So here is the decklist.
White-Fish

//Creatures: 14
4x Cloud of Faeries
4x Spiketail Hatchling
3x Voidmage Prodigy
3x Meddling Mage

//Counter: 10
4x Force of Will
3x Daze
2x Stifle
1x Misdirection

//Draw: 7
3x Curiosity
4x Standstill

//Utility: 4
2x Swords to Plowshares
2x Null Rod

//Br0ken: 2
1x Ancestral Recall
1x Time Walk

//Mana: 23
4x Mishra's Factory
2x Feary Conclave
4x Tundra
4x Flooded Strands
5x Island
3x Wasteland
1x Stripmine

//Sideboard:
1x Null Rod
2x Swords to Plowshares
3x Red Elemental Blast
3x Arcane Laboratory
3x Disenchant
3x [Open slot]

Time for some Side notes:

-I am struggling with the daze's. They are tech, but do i have to play four. I really like the counters how it is now. some advice please?

-I play 3 wastelands because i have the feeling that i need the fifth Island for daze's and meddling mage's and Voidmage's. I really need to have two blue mana sources into play. any thoughts?

-Only three curiosity's because i dont have enough creature's to play them on. so three seems enough to me. Or isn't it?

-Utility...I'm expecting aggro and a little bit of combo, so i divided the slots even. any comment on that??

-Sideboard is not finished, i'm really doubting what i want to play (maybe some CoP's). any suggestions??

Thanx in forward for al the help,

Josti

In the sideboard add Raven Guild Master.  It can be awesome in combo/control matchups.  It is also a wizard. Very Happy

the fact it is an wizard doesn't matter a lot, because i aint going to sacrifice my kill condition for a counter. than i wil sac the voidmage instead. i like to add that this card is expencive. especially the (U)(U) makes it harder to cast. oppinions anyone.

Also, i like to add some other things

Using cards like orims chant, it looks like a good idea to me, but is it??

Greetz,

I just want to comment on the Spike Hatchlings. I have played Rector-decks against U/w Fish quite much, and in those matchups I do not fear Spiketail Hatchling at all. If, on the other hand, a Rootwater thief hits the table, It sets a clock on me much more efficient that the life loss. I know that many Fish players prefere Spiketail Hatchling, but as combo player I fear Rootwater a lot more.

If you expect much aggro, why not maindeck Balance? It should at least be in your sideboard since its your only option to clear the table. The last free spots in the sideboard could be used for some graveyard hate like Tormod's Crypt. Not a great combo with Null Rod, but perhaps Morning tide could be an option? By the way, why REB in the sideboard? You have no red mana! And why Arcane Laboratory? Storm decks are hurt much more by Null Rod. You could include som Chalice if you are afraid of R/G beats. They also helps against Storm-decks. Futhermore, I guess Disenchant is against Stacker, TnT and such decks. You might want to try Energy Flux instead.

Your big problem is going to be the big creatures. you have 4 Swords, but if you meet some Madness deck, you cannot handle them all with just StP. Could good old Control Magic be an option. Perhaps you can hold the offensive back until you get 4 mana? Just a thought.

I wouldn't add white just for StP and a few Meddling Mages (especially if you are worrying about aggro).  Besides, if you're going to call it Fish, put some merfolk in it. Wink

Sideboarded Red Elemental Blasts with no red mana anywhere? Now that's pretty good...[/sarcasm]

On a non typo note, why? The red that was in the deck was good, even against aggro. Grim Lavamancers were insane in the deck. Curiosity on one of those is really nice. Fire/Ice is still quite good as well, taking out thier weenies or tapping thier fatties down for a turn while you continue to whiddle away thier life.

Also, a lot of Wollblad's ideas are very excellent for the deck. If you are going to splash white, might as well abuse the most broken white card ever, Balance. As a personal preference, I'd have to say the red is too good to drop and the deck should stay Gay/red and not Gay/white.

Need more, if you have any, PM, I will trade/buy.

If we keep abusing Goblin Welders like this, eventually they are all going to go on strike.

If you are going to play white and you expect alot of combo + aggro why not try something different. Play 3 Isochron scepters , orim's chant, brainstorm (instead of curiosity), and maybe 2 or 3 mana leaks/counterspells instead of the dazes. With those cards you could try to fit in a chalice of the void vs. combo and cheap aggro.

If you want to go more traditional then put in a balance and a wasteland. The balance is key vs. aggro and the wasteland is needed if you expect any serious combo of artifact prison decks. A third Stp could also be used.

+1 Wasteland
+1 Balance

-1 Stifle (the storm combo is no longer a big threat)
-1 Feary Conclave

I think you meant the Read Elemental Blasts to be Hydroblasts or Blue Elemental Blasts  Wink .

I´ve tried UW faeries as well and my decklist looked a lot like your, only I ditched Budde, because he is much too slow. I´d play Savannah Lions instead, giving you a decent 1-drop.

Also you need your 4th Wasteland and I´d never go down to two Rods. The strength of Fish is its mana denial in 5 strips + 3 rods , whcih makes your hatchlings and Dazes much more efficient. Don´t take that away.

I've been testing/tinkering with the white fish splash for months now (see the old newbie forum archive...) and I really like it. Is it better than the red splash? Against aggro. In the workshop matchup red is better for Rack and Wreck, hands down. Dust to Dust is great for RFG, but the instant speed of R&R is just better.

If you're worried about aggro, just run a couple Worship in the SB (or MD 2 Null Rod, 1 Enlightened Tutor, and 1 Worship like I do and try to straddle the fence game 1), poop it out, and just remember to defend it against Stompys Naturalize (which they might have sided out game 2--what's it going to kill, Curiosity?) until your clock wins the game. Also on that subject, I've been using Serendib Efreets in your Kai slot and, while they cost too much, you just can't bolt them, and they play good beatdown. I've been in love with them, and my wife is jealous  :lol:

With meddling mage in the MD, Chain of Vapor is a nice choice, too, though I'm presently deciding whether or not it's quite nice enough. Chaining your Mage AND your opponent's Game Winning Threat EOT and Maging GWT on your turn tastes sweeter than candy. Also, play 4xMeddling Mage INSTEAD of Kai--we need flyers, plus I never have the mana to activate the Wizard anyway.

With the 2 color mana needs, I've been really worried about Wasteland (even with 3 MD stifle), and so I've been running 2xUndiscovered Paradise just 'cuz nobody ever "wastes" a Wasteland on it. Getting more than one opening hand sucks, though, so there's only two.

My biggest worry about Curious U/w is that it rolls over and says "brother" to Blood Moon, unless you've already got pressure sufficient to win onboard. SB BEB might be a possibility, but it's only good for blowing up WGDs and Blood Moon, so I'm not sure if that's a good choice. More testing is required against Blood Moon TNT.

I'm quite doubtful that this is better than the red splash in the larger metagame, but I just love this deck, so I'm still working on it.

After some resonable thinking, i have seen this deck is nowhere near viable. especially the mage's. they are preventive and not anti aggro. It is just to slow and playing mono or Gay/R is a better option.

I want to thank all for the comment

For People who need to Know, I told him IRL that this deck can't even work better then Mono OR Gay/R.

M-Mage's are Preventive not Reactive, you don't want to sac them for Voidmage so one-way or another, they are not even like G-Lavamancers. And they cost one more and you lose a great deal of speed.

Like said Above, Swords to P. is nice but It's only one card, G-Lavamancer is so much better. And Mono can do very fine to, If you're in an Agrro Meta, Sigel of Sleep and Maze of Ith are nice hits for Fish to deal with Agrro.

The list is Fine but Mono can do much better -> Better Mana-base (can't be color screwed  Wink ), Faster and for Agrro it can be just as effective.

The only problen is Creature Choice, There are two ways.
1, Merfolks
2, No merfolk.

the choice is really hard when you play Nr2, wich should see play?

- Flying Man
- Cloud of faeries
- Spiketail hatcheling
- Voidmage Prodigy
- Serendrib Efreet

Anything else within 3 mana and effective??  maybe Waterfround Bouncer can be a nice hit if you really hate Agrro...

I believe Gay/R is the Strongest Fish deck at this moment. It has proven itself to be stronger in most Meta's then any other type of Fish has ever done.
