I was browsing through the Darksteel spoiler and a card that has great synergy with Berserk caught my attention.

Hunger of the Nim- 1B
Sorcery
Target creature gets +1/0 until end of turn for each artifact you control.

I immediately fell in love with the card and had an instant urge to design a deck around it. I was pondering the idea on how Berserk would be a great combo with it and came up with this decklist.

Mana:27
5 Moxen
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Diamond
1 Chrome Mox
4 Vault of Whispers
4 Polluted Delta
4 Bayou
1 Swamp
2 City of Brass
2 Underground Sea

Creatures:11
4 Juzam Djinn
4 Phyrexian Negator
2 Spiritmonger

Spells:22
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
3 Hunger of the Nim
3 Berserk
1 Regrowth
4 Dark Ritual
4 Duress
4 Hymn to Tourach
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mutilate

Sideboard:15
3 Stifle (For Pernicious Deed and other troublesome spells)
4 Naturalize (Any troublesome artifacts and enchantments)
2 Mutilate (Fish and various Aggro decks)
3 Chill (Sligh and Mono-red)
3  Persecute (For control)

This deck basicly starts out by casting either a first turn Juzam Djinn or a myraid of discard spells. Once you've established board control you go in for the kill with Hunger of the Nim followed by Berserk ending the game. This deck plays much like Sui Black the only difference being it can deal with aggro much better, utilizing creature pumps and recursive creatures as good mid to late game spells that keep your opponents on their heels.l

EDIT: -3 Nim Devourer, +2 Spiritmonger, +1 Mutilate. -4 Carnophage, +4 Phyrexian Negator. -2 Glimmervoid, +2 Swamp. -3 Tree of Tales, -1 Swamp +4 Polluted Delta.

I was curious why you left out nantuko shade, one of the better if not the best black creature ever printed. Is your deck to mana intensive that you feel you make use of his pump ability? Either way I think nantuko deserves to replace carnophage at least.

I love that card's name.

When Berzerk was unrestricted there was a lot of talk on the old version of TMD about how a game based on whole numbers shouldn't have unrestrcited doubling effects.  Once the metagame settled down, there was a lot of crow on people's tables.  Decks based on pump, even really effective pump, are vulnerable to spot removal.  The best anti-spot removal defense, untargetable, negates pump.  I'm not sure your 4 Duress will be able to navigate a deck running counters and Swords to Plowshares.  I would look into decent pro-white creatures and ways of giving your existing fat pro-white (assuming you see StPs).

Why Juzam Djinn over Negator? As in: The Negator has build in trample. You do not always have a Berzerk ready to give trample. Juzam plus Hunger of Nim does shit if the opponent has a blocker.

A card that has great synergy with creature pump is Troll Ascetic because only you can target him. He never becomes a victim to spot removal. The only viable thing that can really get rid of him are Diabolic Edict and even then It's still hard to off the guy.

Juzam Djinn is the big meat in the deck. If I were to add in the Negators I would take out the Carnophage and have 4 Negator to compliment my 4 Juzam as additional beatsticks.

@ enigma: Nantuko shade is good, but here he is going for creatures that are already big, utilizing pump from cards.

@ CavoCavi: I agree with Puschkin, Negator is going to make kill much easyer. Without it, you must run mass creature kill mainboard and deed dosent work here, unless u want to sac alot of your artifacts you need. Maybe Put an some edicts and scepters in so u can youuse ancestral and edict on the scepter. Acually thats kindof stupid, but the hard facts are w/out mainboard negators and perminant destruction, decree of justice or aggro is going to trounce you. Not sure about Nim Devourer either, He needs trample to be good, and is so easy to take out, you cant even swing at a factory early on. You spoke of gaining board control, well its going to be hard, 4dures, and 4hymn to gain you control, i know Im playing nether void. THis deck is pretty risky, the idea is okay, but sui or osawa is going to be far more effective, one edict, swords, deed, or blocker makes life really hard for you.

I made some edits and took out the Devourers and put in a Spiritmonger and Mutilate. Mutilate is good with big beefy creatures on your side and all my creatures survive it most of the time. I also have some in the sideboard against aggro. Check out the other edits I've made and tell me what you think.
