There is a Boilover tournament coming up in about a month at my local shop, and I was wondering if anybody had explored the format at all.  Is there anything less than obvious I should take into consideration?  If anybody has had much success in the format, I'd like to discuss some deck ideas as well.

Could you explain what a boilover format is? I am always interested in hearing about different types of magic.

Well, it appears the format isn't very popular, but if I remember correctly, you get a large group of players together and sit around one very large table.  All of your spells and effects have an effective 'range' of two people to your left and two people to your right (meaning a Wrath of God will only destroy 5 players' creatures; you, the two people to your left, and the two people to your right).  Attacking is restricted to the person to your right, and as such you will be attacked by the person to your left.  As players are killed, they drop out and the gap closes, until one person is left.

Well I play a lot of Free for all, it's almost the same that Boilover, but ten times more brutal (you might attack and be attacked by anyone, and global effects mean "global", and you might target anyone with your spells and abilities)

It depends on what kind of game do you want to play, anyway I highly recommend you a recursion strategy since you will not be running out of gas in the middle of the tournament. Also you need some defensive measures like:

No Mercy + Sun Droplet
Winter Orb (obiously with relic barrier in the deck) + Propaganda

Or you can do some kind of synerystic machine of ultimate destruction:

4 Tombstone Stairwell
4 Dross Harvester (it negates the effect from the zomby tokens that hit you)
