1  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: LATE NOTICE! 1/31 Vintaqe Tournament - Win a Mox! - Harrisburg PA on: January 30, 2010, 11:09:41 pm
If you pull it up on Google Maps and  switch to street view, you can see the lodge place right there so Google Maps is right. I really, really hate Mapquest.

I really hate my $60 GPS that agrees with Mapquest.
2  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: LATE NOTICE! 1/31 Vintaqe Tournament - Win a Mox! - Harrisburg PA on: January 30, 2010, 10:49:26 pm
Is google maps wrong? I'm getting two different ending locations between mapquest and google.
I think these map quest directions are wrong. I just talk to my buddy Matt thats there watching the standard event final. He said you go behind the Harrisburg Mall and drive a half mile and its on the left, this matches google but not map quest. So i would trust google directions over the map quest directions.

Good thing because my Navigon was more or less mapquest directions so I was going to go on majority...

Thanks

$30, as big as day1, the rest doesn't really apply to me.

I have the top 8 decklists, but I don't think I can post until SCG has them up, but, let's just say that there were some interesting card choices, and TK's stiflenaught deck is REALLY good.

I'm sure SCG won't care, as the lists will help further Vintage discussion...which is the primary goal of this forum Smile
I say post them!

I agree...but personally, I would wait until day2 is finished.

Carps suck when it comes to text messaging...how'd it go from 5 DreadGoyf to just 2 in Top8?
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Any poker fans? on: November 09, 2007, 01:38:31 pm
I usually play on PS and Bodog and use to do 3/6 NL and 5/10 FL...I ended up making enough to pay for my new car so I was happy.  Unfortunately, it got in the way too much with academics so I cashed out and I only play casually at a 1/2 table once in a while.  I use to read a lot from cardplayer.com (and was the ambassador for my school, which I recommend you look into if you're in college), pokerpages.com, and the forums over at twoplustwo.com.  As for books, I got the most out of Harrington's series and I did read a lot of Sklansky's books.  I usually only use the chat feature online so say hi when I come in and apologize if I put a bad beat on somebody...I always prefer happy opponents to angry ones...people having a good time aren't likely to get as upset if they keep losing pots to you whereas the ones getting angry might start gunning for you, and although some people go on tilt, a lot of others seem to play better when they're focused on taking you out.

Has anyone tried these before?  Even if they are shite, can you complain about 750 sleeves for $20?

j

I sure can when you get DQed for marked sleeves.

That sure was fast!

As a side note, Owen's deck is the exact same as TK and Nighbor, why is it named differently?

Please change that, ICBMers don't play silly green creatures in our decks Smile
18  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: SCG Indianapolis Updates on: September 17, 2007, 11:51:03 am
So we've got this nice big thread here, but I can't seem to find the name of the winner. CTRL F didn't even help me.

Who the hell won?

I don't want to know if two people split, I want to know who's name goes next to "First Place."

Owen and I split without determining a winner, with the gentlemanly agreement that when someone asked us if we won, we should say yes. I'd like to think we're co-champions. It would have been a good final bout but with less than an hour to conduct the game before the venue kicked us out, as well as myriad other reasons, we decided that ten rounds of magic were enough for the day.

Boo!  I was waiting to hear about an epic Steak and Shake finals!  Of course, the downside would be you are eating at Steak and Shake Smile

Semi on topic: Wasn't there like an Applebees finals in some east coast tournament in 04?

Yep Smile
19  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: SCG Indianapolis Updates on: September 16, 2007, 01:31:21 pm
just got home - some other notable items in top 16 were 10th place R/G beatz (kird ape, tarmogoyf, skyshroud elite, etc) at 6-2 (same record as shay and doug) and nick antes with a u/r/b landstill/mask deck.

@ Rich - a real sit down dinner did hit the spot...

I really want to see that Landstill/Mask decklist Smile

Jim Erlinger beat, I believe, 3 Tog decks, including one piloted by Rich Shay, and was ranked first after six rounds.

Ichorid is no joke.

And how about the skill level required to pilot it?

lol, you want something that requires nothing but skill go play chess you wanker.

Congrats to all who made T8...ICBM showing why we are the best Smile

How did JR go from 4-1 to 3-2?

Most of this is confirmed, but some information is a rough estimate taken from table seating
22  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Outlaw may Fade away on: June 05, 2007, 01:05:00 am
Never quit, you'll find yourself playing vintage again in the near future.

while that may be true, if outlaw's collection is anything like is was the last time i saw it he's got some nice cash that could be much better spent if there's no type1 scene.

what's up there outlaw? i come back just in time to see you leaving? that's no fair....

lol, you're coming back after that big lecture at Waterbury about NEVER returning?  I still got your colored in Ball Lightning somewhere Smile

Near as I can tell, Asian Boxes/boosters are availiable in the US (say, through Eudemonia in Berkely, CA), and are (if I recall) slightly cheaper than US counterparts.

I'm think you got that backwards.  I know that Japanese Standard playables are generally more expensive than English ones.

Why does every Blue Bell tournament result thread go to complete shit?  How about next tourney everyone goes outside and settle their differences instead of all this whiney bickering on a forum?  Act like men for once.

30  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Where do you feel you can do better, Vintage or PTQ's? on: January 22, 2007, 11:03:36 pm
Elias, you also have to remember that our PTQ fields in the tri-state are extremely competitive, with at least 20 players that have their PT cherry popped and several other semi-pros that fell off the gravy train.  I personally find making a T8 at a Vintage Tournament much easier than a PTQ Top8; however, a lot of that has to do with the pure randomness of a PTQ and not really with the skill of the players.  Constructed metagames shift very frequently, espically with MTGO growing in size at a steady rate, which allows people to test 24/7, but I think if the current Extended PTQs were just as stagnant as Vintage I would find Vintage to be harder to post solid results in.
