1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / (Single Card Discussion) Key to GAT in the 5th Dawn? Maybe. on: May 23, 2004, 10:08:53 am
Quote from: Shades
Hm, I dont agree with you all. Dryad will never be as good as Tog is and thats why I dont see the reasoning behind playing 4 Dryads and only 2 Togs.I'd play GAT with just 4 Togs and thats it.

The most play 2-3 Togs, because this deck is not Hulk and they didn't need the fourth Tog.

When you play only with four Togs you can also go with Hulk, when you don't want to play with Dryads and you think that they aren't needed.

@Rico Suave:

Yes, Dryads are my mainly kill option, the Tog is only the second most of the time, because Dryad is easier to cast and so it comes faster to grow fast.
The Togs are a nice addition against Aggro or when I have to kill fast, then I would kill with the Tog.

Against FCG the Tog is better, but he can't block the evil Piledriver(AggressiveDzde say it) and that is not that nice, when you have to block with your 4/4 or 5/5 Dryad a 9/2 Piledriver.

I wanted only to ask, because with two togs I didn't find him so often, that I played for a quick Dryad kill.
I agree with you Ultima, that the number of Togs depends on the draw engine and perhaps of your own play style.

I played also with the TfK engine, but I haven't the full jewelery, I have only Mox Jet, Mox Sapphire, Mox Emerald, Sol Ring and Mana Crypt + 2-3 Deep Analysis and it works.

@DavidHernadez:

Are two Togs enough ?
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / (Single Card Discussion) Key to GAT in the 5th Dawn? Maybe. on: May 21, 2004, 05:41:06 am
I have played many games with Night's Whisper and with Skeletal Scrying and I would prefer Scrying over the Whisper, because it has instant speed(would said quite often) and you can Drain in your round and you haven't to tap out yourself for two cards when you also can play Scrying for three wit drain mana and have to tap only one mana.
Instead of Impulse you can play Scryings, they are in my opinion better then Impulse and Night's Whisper.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/r/w Gay Fish viable ? on: May 02, 2004, 11:27:45 pm
Hello !

I have played Gay/r since a longer time and I want to splash another color in it and with white the deck deck has an additional removal like Swords, Disenchant and Serenity and it has another nice creature, the Meddling Mage.
This is only a test version:

4 Cloud of Faeries
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Meddling Mage
2 Gorilla Shaman

4 Force of Will
3 Stifle
2 Daze
1 Misdirection

3 Null Rod

4 Standstill
4 Curiosity
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk

4 Tundra
4 Volcanic Island
4 Wasteland
4 Flooded Strand
4 Mishra's Factory
2 Faerie Conclave
1 Strip Mine
1 Mox Sapphire

The big problem is the mana base, because with nine non-colored mana it can be very difficult, but I hope that this fault could be repaired.
The next problem is that I didn't have any maindeck removals and I also have no place for it.
Then much fun with take apart
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: April 15, 2004, 09:33:42 am
After longer testing I decided to go with U/R Landstill, because the Lightning Bolts and Fire/Ice in the maindeck and the REB's in the sideboard are in my opinion too important not to play.
So, here's the new list with two free maindeck and two free sideboard places:

4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain
3 Misdirection
3 Stifle

4 Standstill
1 Ancestral Recall

4 Fire/Ice
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Nevinyrral's Disk

4 Volcanic Island
4 Wasteland
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Faerie Conclave
2 U-Fetch(maybe Polluted Delta or Flooded Strand)
1 Strip Mine
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Sol Ring(I don't own a Lotus Sad)
4 Island
1 Lotus Petal

SB:

4 Red Elemental Blast
3 Tormod's Crypt
3 Rack and Ruin
3 Flametongue Kavu
2 two free slots

What do you think about playing with two Shivan Reef instead of the two Fetchlands ?
In some reports I had red the people who played liked them also and after sideboarding you need often more red mana.
So, let me know what did you about it.
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / 4C-Hulk Smash viable without Time Walk ? on: April 07, 2004, 05:09:41 pm
o.k., I understand that this deck didn't run well without the Walk.
It seems that I have to buy one
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / 4C-Hulk Smash viable without Time Walk ? on: April 07, 2004, 02:15:07 pm
@jpmeyer:

I have played one time in Dülmen without Time Walk and went 18th out of about 90 people.
Will I be able to do it a second time when I play well or is the Walk to important to do it ?
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / 4C-Hulk Smash viable without Time Walk ? on: April 07, 2004, 11:22:25 am
Hello Guys !

At first the decklist:

4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Brainstorm
3 Cunning Wish
2 Intuition
2 Deep Analysis
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Gush

3 Psychatog
2 Fire/Ice
1 Pernicious Deed

1 Gorilla Shaman

1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mind Twist
1 Yawgmoth's Will

1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Mana Crypt
1 Strip Mine
1 Library of Alexandria
4 Underground Sea
3 Tropical Island
2 Volcanic Island
4 Polluted Delta
2 Island

there are only 59 cards, because I don't own a Time Walk. Sad

Here's the sideboard:

2 Pernicious Deed
1 Snuff Out
1 Smother
1 Coffin Purge
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Berserk
3 Red Elemental Blast
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Oxidize
1 Naturalize
1 Rack and Ruin
1 Fire/Ice

So, that were the lists, now here are my questions:

1. Is it viable without Time Walk ?
2. is the SB/MD correct ?

Meta consits of Control, not so much I think, Aggro and Workshop-Decks.

Congratulation Josti !

How did the Chain of Vapor work ?

12  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 30, 2004, 04:51:14 pm
wuaffiliate,

You have only one Response and one Merchant Scroll to fetch it, maybe.
But I think that that choices are your personal stil.
Thus I would not like to say still something against it.
The pearl is a nice addition to drop first Standstills and that can be very useful.
With petal, pearl and sapphire I am already completely content, because they permit the first turn Standstill and the Disk faster to play and Petal and Sapphire the first turn Mana Drain.

U/W would be in my opinion the "optimal choice" because you have cards against aggro like Swords which are in my opinion better than F/I and Lightning Bolt an the Artifact/Enchantment removal which are Disenchants and Serenity.

The only problem for U/W is that there are no REB's.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 28, 2004, 03:52:29 am
After some testings with Balance, I decided to cut it.
In my playtestings the Balance had only disturbed me.
Fact or Fiction is in my opinion an additional card draw which from the personal style proceeds.
I was content with the FoF and play it.

@Spizzard: Have you already tested Mystical Tutor ?
If you have, how did it work ?
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 26, 2004, 02:21:09 pm
I agree with wuaffiliate to play more Misdirections, because they are so awesome.
I think that the FoF would be a nice addition, if you have no Standstill or when it is countered, if that should happen.

wuaffiliate,

I like your version very much, but I think that the single Teferi's Response would be a bit random, so I would turn the Response to another Merchant Scroll, maybe to fetch some counters.
I find that three Decree's the optimal number is however that is
probably a personally choice.
I think the Pearl is needed, because you want to play a Standstill as fast as you can.
Since I have anyway no Lotus, I must under duress which other one play
and that would be in the case a Pearl or a Sol ring, perhaps also
both.
15  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 24, 2004, 11:57:17 am
Quote from: Hi-Val
Stifle is the nut flush draw in Landstill. If you don't have 3 in the deck already, put them in. They save your manlands incredibly well and act like strip mines as well. .

O.K. I will cut the Responses for something other.
In Dülmen there are in my opinion more Workshop Decks, so I decide to go with U/R Version, but I have to do some changes, because only the four Standstill's  aren't much draw, so I need some other draw.
What about Impulse and Fact or Fiction, would they get a place in this deck ?
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 24, 2004, 12:15:04 am
I decide to go with U/W.
Without playing Teferi's Response I get two free slots.
What should I play ?
Mana Leak, Fact or Fiction, Impulse something else.
What about the manabase ? Is it viable or not ?
I think for the two slots I put in FoF and some other draw, because I have only Standstill's to draw cards.
But why is the Response outdated ?
now where so many people play wastelands the Response would be damn great, I think.
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / U/W U/R or U/W/R Landstill on: March 23, 2004, 04:25:00 pm

20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Gro-A-Tog on: January 25, 2004, 11:05:03 am
Hello Guys!

I assembled times the following deck:

//Guys:(7)
4 Quirion Dryad
3 Psychatog

//Counters:(10)
4 Force of Will
4 Mana Drain/4 Counterspell--->What is better ?
2 Misdirection

//Draw:(13)
4 Brainstorm
4 Accumulated Knowledge/4 Opt--->Same as Mana Drain/Counterspell
3 Sleight of Hand
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Gush

//Search:(6)
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Merchant Scroll
2 Cunning Wish

//Utility:(4)

1 Fastbond
1 Regrowth
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Pernicious Deed

//Manasources:(20)

4 Tropical Island
4 Underground Sea
5 blue Fetch
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Black Lotus
2 Island

SB:(15)

3 Duress
2 Coffin Purge
2 Smother
1 Diabolic Edict
3 Naturalize
1 Crumble
1 Berserk
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Pernicious Deed

As the first time, I do not have Time Walk. Does someone have already
tested which is better? Mana Drain or Counterspell. I consider the
Counterspell better, since the colorless Mana of the drain me does not
bring me anything, because I have nothing, where I could pump
it. AK/Opt: For what hold their of it Opt over AK to play? Very
frequently I did not use the AK's and her times by Opt's did not
replace and those to make their job at the beginning of the play
rather well.  I come relative fast by the Library and find the cards,
which I need also very fast however nevertheless like I know, what it
of hold. The remainder of the deck custom one probably do not discuss,
because it looks like nearly every other standard Tog deck.
