Both of your lists are lacking a true draw engine which makes me question their ability to recover from a failed show and tell or two. Also since both of you are relying heavily on omniscience workshops is going to be very tough your sideboards probably need to be reworked. It should be noted that resolving show and tell into a legend against workshops is not a win. They have duplicant, metamorph, and tanglewire.
@ Yankeedave: 3 mental misstep, 2 flusterstorm, and 2 thoughtseize this should give you a great blue match up. However, this plus only running 1 hurkyls is going to make shops very difficult. You really need 2 hurkyls, 1 to help you cast the show and tell another to actually go off with it.
Really because of the inherent advantages of this decks strategy the only two decks you need to worry about are blue and shops. The issue seems to be that there aren't really cards that are great in both match ups and not compensating enough for one can easily be fatal.
Hmm, I can understand those points. Tinker/Bot is strong against Shops, so I am reluctant to shave that. I would like to get both an extra Hurkyl's and an Ingot Chewer or Shattering Spree in the main. I could maybe lose a Thoughtseize, but I am unsure of the 2nd cut. Maybe an off colour Mox?

I have been goldfishing something similar, but I have gone for the 3 colour build to help out my matchups. Here's my list and sideboard
1x Ancestral Recall 1x Black Lotus 1x Blightsteel Colossus 1x Brainstorm 4x Burning Wish 1x Demonic Tutor 2x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn 2x Flusterstorm 4x Force of Will 2x Griselbrand 1x Hurkyl's Recall 2x Island 1x Mana Crypt 2x Mental Misstep 1x Mox Emerald 1x Mox Jet 1x Mox Pearl 1x Mox Ruby 1x Mox Sapphire 3x Omniscience 3x Polluted Delta 4x Preordain 4x Scalding Tarn 3x Show and Tell 1x Sol Ring 3x Thoughtseize 1x Time Walk 1x Tinker 3x Underground Sea 1x Vampiric Tutor 3x Volcanic Island
2x Echoing Truth 1x Grapeshot 3x Ingot Chewer 4x Leyline of the Void 1x Petals of Insight 2x Pithing Needle 1x Show and Tell 1x Yawgmoth's Will
As you can see, I have access to the black tutors and I have dropped the Vault/Key Combo. I have also moved Y-Will to the SB as a wish target. iI also think that Tinker/bot shouldn't be in this list, but not sure what to replace it with. Comments?

How to break Ominscience in Legacy? Here:
Ancient Tomb, Lotus Petal, Show and Tell, Omniscience, Griselbrand, draw 14, Emrakul, extra turn, kill you? Seems strong and can be in a mono U shell. Nice. Cheaper in £££s than Sneak Attack too. Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain and Personal Tutor to find S&T? Sweet.

So, this thread has been dead for a while thanks to Demon Oath making such an impact. But with the upcoming release of Grafdigger's Cage, is it worth brainstorming a new list with this idea behind it? You can still activate Oath, but it now stays on top of your library instead of ETB and then you just cast and protect it for one turn? What do you guys think?

I definitely think that you should exchange the fact or fictions for 1 Jace and 1 gifts ungiven. I think you have to try gifts if you have vault, key, noxious revival, and Y. will in your deck. Where are the preordains?
I would love to fit Preordain in, but I have absolutely no idea what to cut to do it! I really like the idea of Gifts tho, it makes for some sick piles! Thanks for that. Another card I would like to fit is Flusterstorm, but again, what to cut!

Hi guys
I wanted to discuss my new build of Gush Storm, but I couldn’t find a thread that was exactly what I was looking for, so I thought I would add to this one and see if anyone could help me out with changes to my deck. The premise behind this deck was to abuse the unrestriction of Fact or Fiction with the mana production of the Gush/Fastbond engine along with Lotus Cobra to either draw or tutor into one of 3 sets of win cons:
1) Either chain spells to finish the game with a large Mind’s Desire or Tendrils of Agony. 2) Search for Tinker into BSC 3) Go infinite with Vault/Key.
I began with 4 Fact or Fiction, but reduced the number to 3 and now 2, as whilst it can be a game breaker, I keep ending up pitching them to Force rather than drawing cards with them. I am beginning to suspect this is not the correct deck for them, but would appreciate some ideas. Would JTMS be better?
I haven’t posted a sideboard, as I want to get the Maindeck right before posting anything that will be the most flexible part of the deck, making changes as needed.
Utility
4 Gush 1 Brainstorm 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Time Walk 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Yawgmoth's Will 2 Fact or Fiction 1 Fastbond 1 Timetwister 1 Noxious Revival 2 Hurkyl’s Recall 1 Merchant Scroll
Counters
4 Force of Will 2 Mana Drain 2 Mental Misstep
Win Conditions
4 Lotus Cobra 1 Tinker 1 Blightsteel Colossus 1 Time Vault 1 Voltaic Key 1 Mind’s Desire 1 Tendrils of Agony
Broken Stuff
1 Sol Ring 1 Mana Crypt 5 Moxen 1 Black Lotus
Lands
3 Tropical Island 3 Underground Sea 4 Polluted Delta 4 Misty Rainforest 1 Island
I am quite enjoying playtesting this at the moment, although my 3 Goldfish aren’t very good and keep making elementary play mistakes. Any helpful tips etc would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

I am currently having a play about with this deck to see what I can make happen. This is where I am at currently:
Artifact (13)
1x Black Lotus 1x Mana Crypt 1x Mox Emerald 1x Mox Jet 1x Mox Pearl 1x Mox Ruby 1x Mox Sapphire 1x Sol Ring 1x Time Vault 3x Torpor Orb 1x Voltaic Key
Sorcery (9)
1x Demonic Tutor 2x Duress 1x Merchant Scroll 1x Ponder 1x Thoughtseize 1x Time Walk 1x Tinker 1x Yawgmoth's Will
Land (16)
1x Bloodstained Mire 2x Island 2x Misty Rainforest 4x Polluted Delta 1x Strip Mine 1x Swamp 1x Tolarian Academy 4x Underground Sea
Instant (14)
1x Ancestral Recall 1x Brainstorm 1x Chain of Vapor 4x Force of Will 2x Hurkyl's Recall 1x Mystical Tutor 3x Stifle 1x Vampiric Tutor
Creature (8)
1x Blightsteel Colossus 4x Dark Confidant 3x Phyrexian Dreadnought
Whilst I can see this is not going to be a top tier deck, I believe it could be great fun in the right meta and may have room for some Enlightened Tutors or something similar. It currently mulligans quite horribly and I would like to at least have a crack and getting this more up to snuff.

I have joined up and I gotta say, I really like this program! One thing I would like is a way to state what kind of game you would like to play when you start a new match, ie, Vintage, Legacy, etc. I want to test my Oath and Belcher decks, but its hard when someone is playing Mythic Conscription, as it doesnt allow for people to know what you want to play against! Otherwise, i really like it!

Hey Ya'll
So, I have recently started acquiring Power and Vintage staples in order to play in an upcoming sanctioned tournament. So far, I have managed to afford an Ancestral Recall, a Timetwister, a Time Vault and a set of Mana Drains. I have all of the lesser expensive cards, such and fetches and duals, as well as things like Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring and all the tutors, but no Lotus or Moxen or Time Walk.
What would be the best type of deck for me to mangle? I have been thinking about traditional Oath, Tezzerett, , or Drain Tendrils, all with 4 Chrome Moxes partially filling Lotus/Moxen slots. What do you guys think? Is it viable to change fully powered decks into a kind of red haired stepchild of a deck?

Hey Guys
Its the British Nationals this weekend and on Friday afternoon we have the Vintage Side event. I came across this thread and thought I would post my ideas. I have tried to port across the Legacy deck Eva Green. This is what I am working on and would love some feedback:
Vintage Eva Green (unpowered)
Creatures:
4 Tarmogoyf 4 Dark Confidant
Spells:
4 Duress 4 Thoughtseize 4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Dark Ritual
4 Null Rod 4 Chalice of the Void
4 Diabolic Edict 3 Extirpate 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Yawgmouth's Will
3 Bloodstained Mire 3 Polluted Delta 3 Wasteland 1 Stripmine 3 Bayou 6 Swamp
Sideboard 1 Gaea's Blessing 3 Krosan Grip 4 Engineered Plague 4 Leyline of the Void 2 Pithing Needle
While I really love Tombstalker in the deck, I have no draw engine, so I had a choice to make. Draw engine or hard beats. With the mana curve of the deck, Bob seems like a solid choice, and in testing, I have been happy the result, as with 12 discard effects, I am constantly on top of my opponent's game.
Vintage doesn't run many creatures and the vast majority seem to be Tinker---->Inkwell Leviathan so Edict seemed the best option.
I like the MD Chalices and Null Rods. They are solid against a lot of the decks these days and help shut down Tezzerett /Time Vault combo. I can also bring in the Pithing Needles if I am too worried.
I am a little bothered that I don't have a sweeper, but what do I take out of the SB for Deeds or EE?
The SB has changed slightly to allow for the poor Painter Grindstone match and the Goblins matchup. I am not sure about the Pithing Needles as they help the Grindstone matchup, but will the plagues be enough against random aggro that always appears?

Thanks Mantis!
I did think about going down the mana denial route, as it would be very advantageous, it is definitely something to think about.
I have also given a lot of thought to the splash for 'Goyf and Grunt, as it would give me access to great cards such as StP and Grip, but leaves me open to the same hate, so still thinking about that one.
I do agree about Vamp Tutor tho, it was sat in my folder smiling at me, saying "Why do you never play me?" and so got put in the deck! Will have to find a replacement now!

Hi Guys I haven't posted on here in about 4 years, as I have been out of the game for a very long time, but am now getting back into it and going to the UK Vintage Champs this weekend in Birmingham and have been desperately trying to put together what may be a somewhat competitive deck. I hope this looks good, but will explain card choices beneath: Lands: 20x Swamp Creatures: 14 4x Nantuko Shade 4x Dark Confidant 4x Hypnotic Spectre 2x Tombstalker Disruption: 16 4x Duress 4x Thoughtsieze 4x Hymn to Tourach 4x Extirpate Other: 10 4x Dark Ritual 4x Sensei's Divining Top 1x Vamp Tutor 1x Demonic Tutor Sideboard: 4x Engineered Plague 3x Yixlid Jailer 3x Pithing Needle 3x Tornod's Crypt 2x Nev's Disk Lands: Cant go wrong with basics - I haven't used Fetches as I think that with the tops and the Dark Confidants, I have enough of a way to manipulate my deck. More on this later. Creatures: Nantuko Shade - Great pump creature with a great late game, making use of those dead top deck Rituals. Dark Confidant - I would be some kind of idiot if I didn't use Bob! 4x Hypnotic Spectre - Not sure on this one, is filling in the gaps right now, as cannot think of another 3cc beater that does as much. I know Negator would be great here, but its an unknown meta in a sanctioned tourney, so I am expecting a lot of burn, as it is cheap. 2x Tombstalker - This thing is great, I have played with more in the deck, but found that I was getting in my opening hand too often. I was this slightly later, once I have destroyed their hand. Disruption: I have added a full suite of discard as I feel that this deck needs them and being able to stop combo in its tracks and take locks pieces from MUD decks is a must, otherwise, you may as well just scoop. The MD extirpates are my super secret tech, as they give that "WTF, no one plays MD Extirpate" that can really put someone off there game Other: I have put in the SDT's, as I think they are great draw and compliment the Bobs really well. That said, I am very tempted to drop them for Sinkholes, as I love blowing up Workshops. So I could do with some advice for this! As for the tutors, I had them and I had two spare slots, so I thought, why not? Any suggestions as to what I can replace them with would be great, if you think they should go. My sideboard is reflective of an unknown sanctioned meta - I expect a lot of gobbo's and Ichorid, so the Plagues, Crypts and Jailers are there for those. The needles are for most anything at all. The Nev's Disks are for MUD, but not sure about them. Maybe go for 3 of's across the board? I could really use help here! Thanks again guys! Dave

Sorry, I wasn't clear there. I meant to say, if the opening hand did not have a Tundra, but an Island instead, so it looked like: Flooded Strand, Brainstorm, Island, FoW, Mana Drain, Exalted Angel, StoP, then what would the correct play be? Sorry for the confusion.

Good advice. We have a very strange and somewhat limited Meta around here and I tend to see a lot of old school control, Oath, Welder MUD and TONS of rogue. I think the advice I have received so far has been most helpful.
How about this though:
I have 5 cards in hand after mullliganning 2 no land hands: Brainstorm, Stifle, Exalted, Island, Island. What should I do in this situation?

Hi Shade,
I have a teammate who plays a lot of Oath, so I know how scary it can be when it is staring you down. Here are some suggestions of ideas he has used to help him.
I would think that you would play at least 4 copies of Forbidden Orchard, as you cannot tutor for them and they can easily be eaten by Wastelands, also you might want some basic forests in there, for the same reason.
Have you thought about a couple of Cunning Wish rather than using 4 Intuition, maybe 2 and 2? Then you could have access to extra cards such as Naturalise, Stifle, and Hurkyll's Recall which don't have a place maindeck.
If you are afraid of MonoU, how about splashing black for Duress and tutors? Just a few thoughts to be helping you on your way...

Thanks Warble, that was what I was looking for, I have been contemplating this for a while now, and this answered my question. How about the second part though? Has anyone got any examples of when it is / isn't viable to Brainstorm, and maybe mistakes that have been made because of this card? It will help me to hear these stories, so I can know what to avoid in the future.
Thanks to Everyone, once again!

Okay, so I may be stupid, but when in the best time to play Brainstorm, when you are using shuffle effects such as fetchlands, etc?
For example, in my U/W control deck, I may have a opening hand of Flooded Strand, Brainstorm, Tundra, FoW, Mana Drain, Exalted Angel, StoP, and I am playing the first game of best of 3, and I am going first. What order should I play my cards in? And can anyone give me any other examples of good or bad times they have used Brainstorm and what they would / wouldn't change next time?
Thanks Everyone!

OK, IndyTerminator, maybe I was a little harsh, but I don't know whether Columbus is considered a big city anymore, but that's how the people are in southern Indiana in my experience. I do have to say that a lot of the people I still consider friends (and I have been home in England for 13 years) were from northern Indiana, or had spent time there, so it may just be that southern Indiana is like that. I don't know. I would, however, like to apologise to any Hoosiers who I may have offended in the previous post. I was only airing my personal opinions formed from my own experiences.

Hey, Glad to know that someone else will experience the wonder that is Indiana. I lived in Indiana for about 14 years, and I hated it. They only have 3 things and they are (in no particular order): Corn Basketball Bibles The people are real friendly, but shallow, they ask how you are, but that is because they were taught to ask in the name of politeness, but they have no interest in the answer of of becoming your friend. They are just going through the motions. Also, the sheer number of churches in the state scares me. Here in England, you give directions using landmarks such as pubs and restaurants and suchlike, in Indiana, you go left at the Methodist, right at the Baptist and then left again at the Lutheran. And all the car parks are full every Sunday. Yikes. Also, all my old friends there, (the few I managed to make) all have an unhealthy love of Dubya and his policies. Its a farming state, so very very conservative. Also, the clocks don't change in the fall and spring like in the rest of the world, because the farmers complain that it is too dark on a morning to work. Damn. As to the Magic scene, I know that in Indianapolis there is a healthy Vintage environment, and if you look on the Wizards website, you can find a list of stores that hold regular tournaments and Indy is only about 45 mins away from ya'll. Anyway, don't let scare you too much, I have just gotten bitter about the place.

So, I managed 3rd yesterday, going 3-1, only losing to a deck that I should have beat, but he kept topdecking answers. The git. Anyway, having seen what does and doesn't work, I am now interested in trying my hand at this deck with a splash of black. I have had to take a lot of the blue and white control out of this deck, but I will see how this performs. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Land: 3 Polluted Delta 3 Flooded Strand 4 Mishra's Factory - This card was awesome, pulled my ass out of a lot of trouble, especially when one guy attacked into 2 with a Phyrexian Negator 7 Island 3 Plains 2 Swamp 2 Underground River (The Tundras were on loan, but I will be buying Underground Seas and Tundras as soon as I can afford them.)
Control: 4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 3 Duress 2 SToP 3 Meddling Mages 1 Mind Twist 2 Stifle
Tutors/Search/Draw: 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Demonic Tutor 3 Impulse 3 Brainstorm 1 Fact Or Fiction 3 Cunning Wish (I haven't got any Skeletal Scrying, otherwise, they would come into the deck.)
Kill: 2 Exalted Angel (Am looking out for Decrees as we speak)
Other: 1 Mox Pearl 1 Time Walk
Sideboard: 1 Diabolic Edict 1 Misdirection 1 Echoing Truth 1 SToP 2 Disenchant 1 Stifle 1 Hurkyll's Recall 1 Capsize 2 Akroma's Vengeance - I choose this over Nev's Disk because, while it may cost 2 more to cast, it takes only one turn to do its job. 2 Energy Flux 2 Tornod's Crypt
I would like to fit Orim's Chant and Mana Leak into the deck because they worked so well for me over the weekend, but I just can't seem to find space for it. I would like to ask everyone for further opinions on the deck and their preference over other versions they have seen so far.
Thanks again for you support.

Thanks to all those who have helped out so far, especially Draven and Skumle, who took the time to present me with full decklists. In about 6 hours I am playing with the version that I originally started out with, but I will be testing the options you have presented me so far. I like the way some of the ideas have led and I will be looking out for more help in the future, so, to use an overused saying, watch this space.

Thanks for that Warble. I have thought about splashing black and am looking to get the Underground Seas to do that asap. Same with the Decrees, as soon as I can get hold of some, I will tweak the deck a bit more. Anyone else got anything for me? All your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi All,
I am playing in a few local Vintage tournaments in the next few weeks and would appreciate a little help with the deck I am planning on running - U/W control. I have many of the key cards, it is just the tweaking I need help with.
Maindeck (Note - If it appears that a card, such as Polluted Delta, seems out of place, it is because it is running at as second best)
Land: 3 Flooded Strand 2 Polluted Delta 4 Tundra 6 Island 3 Plains 4 Mishra's Factory
Control: 4 Mana Drain 4 Force of Will 4 Mana Leak - Could be Counterspell, but it I have found this better as it can be used in the off colours. 3 Swords to Plowshares 3 Orims Chant - Absolutely owns storm and other counter decks. 4 Meddling Mages 2 Stifle
Search/Draw: 1 Mystical Tutor 3 Impulse 3 Cunning Wish 1 Fact or Fiction
Kill: 4 Exalted Angels
Other: Mox Pearl Time Walk
Sideboard: 1 Stifle 1 Swords to Plowshares 2 Disenchant 1 Hurkyll's Recall 1 Capsize 1 Echoing Truth 1 Misdirection 2 Energy Flux 2 Tornod's Crypt 1 Balance 2 Akroma's Vengeance
It is a wide and varied metagame that I am playing in, but I do know I will be facing Meandeck Oath, Welder Slaver, Sligh, MonoU control, and black LD/Control, as well as a lot of ramdom rogueness. This is a mostly unpowered meta and I think I have put together a reasonable deck, with some decent wish targets and thought about my meta, but I am after some opinions on what people think of my choices and any chages they might make.
Thanks in advance.
