1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Great New Combo Deck on: December 29, 2005, 01:44:09 pm
why did you edit your post in the first place?

I because I thought that if I supported the deck more, people who believed the deck was viable would still post hilarious things.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Great New Combo Deck on: December 29, 2005, 01:23:25 pm
Psst... im gonna tell you a secret since you dont seem to be catching on... this whole thread is for fun. This deck isnt actually viable in any format and just about every card in the thing sucks... and thats the point. The wont be any tournament reports involving this thing because no one but a complete moron would play it in a serious tournament.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE????

Is it that hard to tell, i mean honestly? Buttons.. you have created a monster.

I'm guessing you didn't see my second reply uneditted. I caught on and laughed my ass off reading the first page. I'm not that stupid.
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Great New Combo Deck on: December 29, 2005, 01:18:22 am
Yeah I wasn't sure, I just sat here confused, hoping that it was a joke I editted out all flames. Anyway, why would you make a huge response like that? No one should want to read a tournament report that has false data. If anything can get players to play this deck without winning, it's thinking that it can't beat crappy decks like oath.

So when should we start seing sick tournament results?

At least, I would say that if a deck isn't homelands based it is tier 2

Does that mean if we passed an exam we could own SCG? Wink
7  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: SCG Richmond Results on: September 24, 2005, 01:48:42 pm
Well,to be fair there is a prerelease too. Hopefully that is where some of the vintage players are.
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: T1 Replenish Combo Deck on: September 18, 2005, 01:24:45 pm
Why is it that you only run 2 bazaars? You should cut 2 attunement for the other two bazaars. As for control, you don't need that much. cut 2 more attunement for 2 brainstorm. this deck also needs squee and intuition.

Scepter is activated, so no. In the future, questions like this  go in the rules forum.

I'm guessing he means destroy, to my knowledge serenity does no countering.
11  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Tidal Gifts -- High Tide Combo on: July 12, 2005, 12:49:05 am
It seems that in your 2nd list in the original post, you have 59 cards. What's the 60th? With a decklist as diverse as this one, it's kind of hard to discern what you meant that 60th card to be.
Probably mana vault but I'm not sure.
12  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Tidal Gifts -- High Tide Combo on: July 11, 2005, 11:00:33 pm
What would you generally gifts for? Just four bombs and hope for the best or is there some synergy I'm missing. Also where is duress, IMO it's better to run a proactive counter than a  reactive counter like FOW. Why frantic search, it generally isn't good w/o academy, I would suggest putting it in the wishboard for when you have an active academy.
13  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: New judge promo Foil Sol ring? on: July 10, 2005, 10:26:23 pm
yeah there's already a thread like this in the magic community. IMO they are really cool.

No, YOU GUYS  play decks because you consider them better.  I play decks that I enjoy.

Well no offense or anything but wouldn't it make more sense to have posted in casual? And I take it back about interesting, your thread was fine... just not broken.
15  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Slaver USA thread locked? on: June 29, 2005, 01:00:53 am
Dude, dissing power for some type 2 card or abeyance isn't broken or very interesting IMO.

If the time walk gets countered, you lose your next turn land drop, and you are tapped out.  NOT GOOD.  If he mana drained your time walk, he probably has access to 4-5 mana next turn, ALONG with you being tapped out.  AGAIN, NOT GOOD.

The same goes for burning wish. except when you play burning wish on your first or second turn (and it should be played ASAP because otherwise it's dead and you are holding 6 cards) they will have another turn to find a counter for walk, unless you had 4 mana on the first turn in which case you should play something better like a thirst or a tinker.
17  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: fun control card on: June 03, 2005, 10:13:02 am
It also costs UUUU to play and any storm combo (even TPS) can combo off before you get the fourth blue, heck I've even gotten slaver locked before I got my fourth blue mana. Even if the card became easier to understand what it did, I don't think that a card with a UUUU cc will get played because of it's only so-so ability. if the cc was changed to have more colorless mana in the cc it would be much more realistic.

Yes I have "weakened" the sideboard with wishes, but at the gain of strengthening the deck.  It's not a one way tradeoff and so far I like it.  Wishing for answers, threats, etc. works well and has been successfully done in other decks too.  (Tog).

putting 3 wishes in the deck is not strengthening it. at least put timewalk maindeck there is not point in putting it in the sideboard. why abeyance? reality ripple is horrible, just don't run it. R&R is much better against workshop decks. I would consider cutting the intuition too because you have 61 cards (making it more inconsistent) and you are already running a bunch of 1 of's. Put a mystical tutor in that will make the deck more consistent and it will be easier to find a good scepter imprint.
19  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: Restrict on: June 02, 2005, 01:06:52 am
this is very much like quash with a cooler name and a lower cc.
20  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Re: Post the coolest ways to kill a player. on: June 01, 2005, 04:48:01 pm
All you need to do is tap the totem before donating it, with Twiddle or the like. Of course, this combo works about fifty billion times better with Ashnod's Coupon, since you force them to either scoop or pay you $100 for your drink.
Everyone knows that welder beatdown is the best win condition ever. As for ashnod's coupon it says you have to pay for the drink. On a serious note it's not the coolest way to win but my choice of win condition is usually tendrils for 10.
21  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Deck] Slaver USA on: June 01, 2005, 01:17:22 pm
your side board is very weird I mean timewalk? and please please take out disenchant, that card is not as good as other cards that could be there. IMO the good CS SB core cards are:
3 arcane lab
1 triskelion/lava dart
3 reb
I have never tested SoR against combo but anything to slow it down will help so:
2-3 SoR
anything else is based on your meta unless I missed something big which i probably did.
22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Discussion] Best deck hosers on: May 27, 2005, 10:00:29 pm
VS. TPS:
Chalice of the void set at 0 (first turn) or 1
Orim's chant
Null rod

Rack and ruin is solid against for instance stax and other artifact heavy decks, same for energy flux.

And what about Chains of Mephistopheles against TPS? Without the draw-7's they'll probably won't go off, isn't?

combo doesn't generally have that hard of a time going off without draw7's although chains can be good a against combo. what about meddling mage that is a pretty good hoser in general.
23  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Pithing Needle on: May 21, 2005, 12:21:03 pm
what about against oath or CS I think this card may have a home in the SB but probably not MD it's pretty meta dependent.
24  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Who wants to play BURN now? on: May 18, 2005, 04:06:23 pm
I wouldn't play it (if I played burn) simply because it can be easily countered and in game 2 and 3 they can just take mana burn to avoid being hit (provided they're not holding a counter.) it's also very conditional if you want them at ten they are at twelve and you have a chain lightning in hand, it just doesn't have that much synergy with other burn spells costing 2 or 3 instead of something that can be changed like blaze can (and I'm not saying to play blaze, blaze is terrible.)

If you did have anything to do with being born in 1985 when we talk about you we can think of that bowling for soup song...
26  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Good and Bad deck names.... on: May 16, 2005, 11:07:59 pm
IMO SSB has a pretty boring name, but not the deck. control slaver sounds pretty cool too. If it counts affinity should be on the bad name list. sensei has an alright name I wouldn't really know where to put it. Any color control or anything like 5/3 is dumb too.
27  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Deck] RTS Combo on: May 13, 2005, 04:44:08 pm
I wouldn't suggest boseiju in a storm deck the come into play tapped thing just isn't worth it. If you are worried about control than run defense grid MD. I'm just surprised that jdizzle hasn't pwned you for having said you made a better combo deck than deathlong Wink
28  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Cunning Wizard - testing a new deck on: May 13, 2005, 01:43:30 pm
@and11 you will probably need more than one island since some people were talking about playing mono blue which would'nt be good news for you. I would cut some of the duals maybe one of each since they won't be that hard to find with all the fetches you're running. Maybe if you wanted you could cut the petal too. I would add the fourth daze too.

In this deck you may want some fliers in there so that curiousity is more useful. and Jacob said everything that needs to be said about azami.
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: More from Forsythe about Workshop on: May 13, 2005, 09:28:29 am
IMO 3sphere in vintage was a lot less fun than affinity in standard. In standard it always took a few turns to win. With 3sphere they could play anything for three turns and that's when crucible wasn't right after it. I used to play affinity in standard the games were still fun, I would still lose sometimes, that wasn't exactly the case with workshop decks. if someone was playing prison given a good draw there was nothing that the other player could do. which is why wizards restrict cards, it's a game it should be fun.
30  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Discussion] Lotus or Recall? on: May 11, 2005, 09:28:59 pm
IMO you should trade the lotus and (provided it's in good condition) trade it for a few drains and a mox or something. In your other thread you said something about trading your ancestral for a set of drains, don't do it that's like giving someone 500$ for their 360$. Also unless the other person is trading way up don't trade your power.
