Maybe some deck with Bazaar and Anger might be viable, that way you can chain them together, even with animates. Just a random idea, but it might be good. It's still an insanely broken effect, but certainly it ain't as good as Jar.. I think it will be broken as a four-off though. Only time will tell i guess Smile

EDIT: I didn't find anything on the internet confirming this (and others) are real, only that they were rumours, which might or might not be true. Something I missed?

You would be able to do this i guess. But if I'm correct you can't use your scepter after that anymore because it has 'lost' it's imprinted card. I'm almost sure about this, because something like this came up with wishing for a sceptered card, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Rock Lee is right, Oath will bring in Sky Swallowers which don't care about your plows/stromscapes. Furthermore i think you need at least 1 maindeck answer to chalice at 2, because it really makes your deck cry.. 11 out of 14 creatures cost 2 and the other 3 want to have another on the board to swap with.. I think Rushing River might be your best option, although Chain of Vapor can be considered, but them bouncing ninjas kinda sucks.. Echoing Truth is obviously no option, cause it costs 2.

I used to play a Rector-Trix deck some time ago, ill see if i can remember the list  Smile, it might be usefull for reference. I didn't have any power back then so it's an unpowered list, if you have any add them obviously (not sure about Twister, but the others are no-brainers).

Mana (28):
4 Gemstone Mine
3 Scrubland
3 Underground Sea
1 Volcanic Island
1 Bayou
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Dark Ritual
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Vault
1 Mana Crypt
1 Chrome Mox
1 Mox Diamond
1 Lotus Petal

Combo (12):
4 Academy Rector
3 Illusions of Grandeur
2 Donate
1 Necropotence
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Rushing River

Disruption (12):
4 Force of Will
4 Duress
4 Cabal Therapy

Other stuff (8):
4 Brainstorm
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Yawgmoth's Will

Sideboard (15):
1 Form of the Dragon
1 Disenchant
1 Misdirection
3 Xantid Swarm
3 Red Elemental Blast
3 Rack and Ruin
3 Tormod's Crypt

I think it was something like this, but keep in mind that the list is kinda old (round Mirrodin/Darksteel) so there might be some newer cards that are worth playing. The sideboard could also use some work, because the meta has changed quite alot since i played this. Anyway i hope this helps.
6  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Re: One-drop cycle on: May 15, 2006, 10:10:14 am
The red, white and black ones look ok to me.

But the blue one seems a bit to bad.. but then again increasing its basepower isnt really an option as mentioned before. So maybe we could come up with another drawback. Maybe remove the top X cards from the game, this gets +1/+0 until end of turn, with X yet to be dertermined.

Then again the green one might be to powerfull, giant growths giving 6 or more power for 1 mana seems kinda good. How about the land search idea on this one, let them search a land for each +1/+0, but then you will get the problem that it should have a maximum amount of times it can be activated per turn, else this would insta-kill if unblocked.

What do you guys think about it?
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: unpowered shoplles on: April 05, 2006, 10:18:15 am
I would play with 4 Chalices for sure. Since you are unpowered you need to make sure the opponent cant take to much advantage of his. Most decks play a lot of 0 casting costs artifacts. Denying them those is pretty strong. In your last list i think i would remove the stacks for chalices, or remove the dynamos (way to slow imho, if you have 4 mana you want fat not a dynamo), but then again you might need more manasources since you just cut 4..

Hope this helped a bit.

Next tip will probably be: You can only draw card(s) in your drawstep or when a card instructs you too, not because you want too.

Sometimes i check the discussions that are on the front page, but almost never more..

SCG is good for decklists after tournaments and articles, but TMD has a far better forum.

Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne is the only game i still play regularly. The custom map Dota Allstars is just the best..

Diablo II/LOD was great too.
11  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: If you got a free $2,000 to buy Magic cards with, what would you buy? on: March 16, 2006, 10:59:58 am
A Lotus, a Walk, a Saphire and a Jet. Then if I would have some left an Emerald, Ruby or pimp-stuff.

Would be nice to finish my P9 set  Razz
12  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: TSR - Litz Long. The deck that pushes combo to Tier 1 again! on: March 16, 2006, 10:41:39 am
Since Stax isn't a very good match-up and you don't like Windfall why not replace it with Hurkylls Recall, or Rebuild?
They help against Stax, they pitch to FOW and they ramp up your storm count with a couple of artifacts out. Rebuild costs one more then Hurkylls but then again it bounces all artifacts and it has a different cc then Echoing Truth, which can certainly come in handy vs Chalices.

Hope this helped.

What card do you think is the best sideboard answer to combo when playing Slaver (UBR)? Labs, just Duress, Chalice maybe? At the moment i settled on using Duress, but i would very much like to hear your opinion.

Thanks in advance.

Duress is probably the 'best' anti-combo weapon you can bring in, seeing as Sphere of Resistance does nowhere near as much damage as it used too. Chalice of the Void is good as well, but ultimately hamstrings CS if you set it @ 1, which is usually better than the 0 setting... it's still a valid option though. The main reason I think Duress has an edge right now though is because of the sheer amount of artifact bounce being played in decks currently. If you expect a heavy combo meta, your best shot would be to team Duress up with Chalice/SoR anyway though. Between Drain, FoW, Duress and some sort of mana denial you can make the combo player's life hell.

If you're not running it maindeck, Platinum Angel is also an option to bring out with an early Tinker. It accomplishes many of the same things the other stall cards do, but it also beats for 4.

A unconventional option I've had some success with it boarding in 2 Tundra and 4 Meddling Mage. It forces slower combo to typically waste a tutor on a bounce spell (Kind of hard to go off around it if you named Will or Tendrils and you have counters), Rebuild and Hurkyll's misses it and it comes down turn 2. YMMV though.

I'm disenchanted with SoR for not being Trinisphere and Arcane Lab for costing three mana, especially when they can just use Xantid to force through a bounce spell anyway.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: R/W/U (Dutch) Fish on: March 08, 2006, 10:38:33 am
Well i think you either need to play Chalice of the Void or Null Rod main. Because your deck cant go broken you need to make sure the opponent also cant do this, mainly fish does this by using one of the aformentioned cards. If you choose to play Null Rod you have to drop the vials ofcourse. But Chalices can obviously be played next to vials. Chalice comes down faster (presuming you play it for 0) but it isnt that good when you are on the play or if you draw it in the later game, while rod still nails your opponents moxen if dropped in a later turn.

So both cards have advantages and disadvantages, so you need to figure out which you like best/is best in your meta. But i think you need to at least run one of them.

Hope this helped

My friend has an enchantress deck, the best plan for him is usually putting a Humility into play as soon as possible. The only problem with playing Humility is that your own Enchantresses won't work anymore. Then your only option for drawing cards as far as i know is Enchantress's Presence.

Some other good enchantments: Fastbond, Exploration, Seal of Cleansing, Aura of Silence, City of Solitude, Sterling Grove, Enlightened Tutor.
Possible kill cards: Mobilization, Sacred Mesa, Words of Wilding, Yavimaya Enchantress (if you choose not to include Humility).

I don't have my friends decklist so i can't post it here Sad, but I hope I helped a bit.
