1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: NO8 KEEPER!!!! on: August 29, 2005, 07:45:03 am
I tried playing keeper recently, didn't work out well, I think its because of my build, but I put in 4 duress's and it worked really good.  Also, G-shaman is pretty good against slaver match ups, or simply for blowing up other ppl's moxen since you don't have any.  Another thing that would be good if your not playing that much artifact mana would be null rod.  Brainstorm is an amazing draw spell, I think you should run 4.  I thought about it, and I am going to try and run as many cunning wishes as possible, since I see a lot of combo being played.  I don't know if it would be neccessary for you, but I think it will work out for me.  Keep in mind that you are playing a rather weak deck in the current metagame.  Your gonna have to think much differently than how keeper used to work.  I'm not sure if your gonna need those counterspells either, I think something like pithing needle would help you a lot more.  Pithing needle helps in many match ups.

I thought about it a bit more, I don't think seething song goes in your deck.  I just realized that you have skirk prospectors, which shuld help you mana accel enuf that you don't need seething songs.  Incinerators are really good, I know you can Matron them in your hand, but I would keep at least 3 since they are excellent against things like welder.  Your mana base does need a lot of work, I'm starting to think that the 1 lotus petal shuldn't be there.  Ring leaders are still very good even if your not trying to combo.  It gives you a 2/2 with haste and almost ancestral recall's you every time it comes into play.  I know 4 mana is hard to cast in your deck, which is why maybe you should cut it down to 3.  This will also give you more room for lackeys.  Just remember that your foodchain combo is probably going to be your alternate win condition most of the time.
3  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Re: Casual Powered Sneak Attack Deck on: August 19, 2005, 07:05:14 pm
I used to have a casual play sneak attack deck too.  One thing I noticed that was good was Nichol Bolas, the Elder Dragon Legend from legends.  It makes your opponent discard his/her hand if hit by him.  I mean, I understand not putting him in if you want to just go for the kill, but if its casual its always fun to make your opponent cry when they discard their hand and take huge damage.  Another creature I might recommend is something that blows up when it dies or comes into play.  I can't think of any on the top of my head right now, but think about it.  If you can blow up all lands then next turn drop a mountain or use your artifact mana source to continue sneak attacking creature at ur opponent.  I can see why you put skull clamp in, but I think you might want to to find a different draw engine, one that works if you don't draw a sneak attack creature.  Another thing, I don't know if this will be any good, but seething song or desperate ritual to me is still usable.

I always thought that Seige Gang commander was one of the best goblins.  I myself haven't played foodchain gobo's or any vintage gobo deck, but I think its good and it might be a good idea to put more in.  Another thing, Goblin warchief is excellent for a low budget gobo deck since its only uncommon and is amazing.  Its true that you definitly need lackey, 23 lands is too much, I think you need at most like 20, if not less.  I think one idea is to cut out some karpulsan forests, unless your metagame includes 7/10's too much.  But try to cut down lands for lackey.  Having a lackey in your hand means you don't need as much land to put insane goblins down.  This will also make your chrome mox more efficient, since having 23 lands makes your imprint choices just 3 card more limited than having 20.

If DSC/Plats doesn't work, maybe you could try living wish.  This could give you the option of getting cards like dustbowl, fattie for the kill, or even a Uktabi Orangutang if you need to destroy an artifact.  I really like the wirewood herald revvik was talking about.

i see, I didn't know random DSC is good again, i guess it makes sense since I don't see as much Swords to plowshares around.  Yeah if its really that good then i guess guided passage is out of the deck.  But with Tinker DSC in my deck does that mean i should be running more tutors like vamp, mystical, or personal tutor?

Don't know much about BR Dragon, but do you really need the 4 shivan helkites?  I was just thinking maybe 3 or 2 is enough since when you Combo off you can search for it with Bazaar.  Also, this may not be of importance to you, but I saw white weenie pull out ivory mask, so if Helkite is your only kill condition, there might be a problem.  I'm just saying a second kill condition might be good.  I even saw someone running cranial extraction so becareful.  Another thing, if you want to add Yag Will, why not instead run 1 Burning Wish?  I haven't seen what your SB looks like, but Burning with could get you Yag Will, or anything else that could help you.

Ok, first of all, what are you talking about DSC??? I don't have that in my deck.  This is a Tog deck, that doesn't run tinker collosus as an alternate kill, if that even exists in tog.  I understand what you are talking about in your other opinions, but I think you need to read my post a bit more carefully to post a good reply.

I was looking through someone's binder and found a card that I think has potential in Tog if I find a way to support its mana cost.  The card's name is guided passage.  The card is a sorcery that costs URG, and makes your opponent search through your deck for first, a land, then a creature, then a non-land non-creature card, and you get the 3 cards in your hand.  This card does 2 big things for me.  The first thing is, it fetches me Tog, which I'm planning on being the only creature in my deck.  Second, it gives me card advantage.  I mean it gets me a land which could help, but those are the two main reasons i want to run it.  Right now I'm only planning on running one in my deck.  I don't see the use of casting 2 of them, but having multiple does mean I can draw it more often.  I feel that i can survive on one unless someone thinks this card is too amazing not to have in my first 7 cards haha.  Anyways, throw me some opinions on the card, and if anyone knows of other techy tog cards, I'm all ears.
