So Orchard tokens say "Flying" on them. Do they actually fly on MTGO (ie, is it a bug in the text being displayed for the token, or a bug in the Orchard implementation)?
Obviously this is a big deal as I do not want random tokens blocking my Griselbrand.
Orchard still functions correctly, the tokens just have the wrong image. This leads to several minutes of people trying to declare blockers before giving up.

I remember reading somewhere that you can borrow cards on mtgo. Is there some sort of enforced lending setup, where the person you give your cards has to give them back at a designated time? Or is it just using the trading mechanics and the honor system to enforce the deal?
It's the same as loaning out paper cards. Make sure it's someone you trust, because they could run off with them and never be seen again.

Minor correction, I (#4) was on UWR Mentor, not Shops. Here are the few photos I took at the event: This was my board at the end of Game 2 in the Quarterfinals vs. Shops. Not too bad. The final turn of a game in the semifinal match with Menendian vs Stone Blade. "Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to put three spells on the stack without passing priority. Preordain, Misstep, Pyroblast my Preordain." - Menendian Game 3 of the finals, in which Menendian came back from a dangerous situation facing down a Chalice on 2 with Young Pyromancer + Wear//Tear in hand by managing to hard cast 3 Ingot Chewers in one game.

The only matchup I can confidently make a prediction about is Dr. Shay vs. Steve Menendian. I met Steve at a local Vintage event on Sunday, and we talked a bit about deck choice since I showed up with his deck from Trimester two (The first thing he said to me was "It's pretty ballsy to show up with the deck I 0-3'd with.) I won't talk about his deck so as not to give anything away, but he's very well prepared for what he expects Dr. Shay to play, and I think he has a very good chance of winning. EDIT: Now that there's no risk of giving away information: Steve 90% expected Rich to run back Delver, in which case his build of more token generators (It was a 3/3 split on Sunday, but it looks like he went with a 4/2 Mentor bias after testing on Monday with Diophan) would have been advantaged. Good to see he learned the danger of leaving artifacts in play after that blowout against LSV

It's fair to say that every digital medium has it's fair share of immature fools. I'm sure that in 99% of the cases those people wouldn't have the courage to act like that in person. Sadly, there isn't anything you can do except report them and hope that WotC cares enough to start handing out some short-term vacations from MTGO.
You can avoid that by closing the chat and never opening it. That's what I do. I like that approach. Unfortunately, the shortcomings of the program sometimes require opening the chat. For example, there's no other way to learn what your opponent named with Cabal Therapy, or what he did with his Ponder. Good point. If only there was a way to separate the Game Actions log from the chat.

I'm sure you're right, as the barrier to entry for the paper format means that players are likely to be older and thus, more mature. Meanwhile, MTGO Vintage costs about as much as Legacy, which far more players have the budget for.
Edit: And I'm not sure how many opponents would be willing, but it could be possible to poll all of your opponents after your rounds to try to get some date on average player ages for online Vintage.

Has anyone experienced a high amount of angry people on MTGO? Seems like the good sportsmanship of the paper vintage community has not transferred to MTGO whatsoever.
People tend to voice frustration more readily online because there's no human element. You're sitting by yourself at home looking at a screen. There's no social pressure to maintain your composure, and some people let themselves go quite a bit.

The problem with Mana Drain against the Belcher deck is that if Belcher is operating optimally, you won't get a chance to cast it. Having tested the deck online a bit, it casts Belcher T1 fairly consistently, if not activates it that same turn. For Mana Drain to actually trade with a Belcher, the Belcher player has to both stumble, and be on the draw.

Cage can't really be called a Shops toy in my opinion, since every deck in the format plays it almost. The last set that really generated new cards for the deck was New Phyrexia, with Phyrexian Metamorph and Slash Panther. Fourish years seems like plenty of time since Shops got a new tool.

An excellent point was made earlier up that the main purpose of the VSL is to increase interest in Vintage. I can attest to the effectiveness of this strategy as the reason I got into the format was due to interest from watching Season 1 of VSL, so the league has created at least one new paper Vintage player.

Hello everyone,
I've been playing Magic since shortly before Mirrodin Besieged was released, Legacy since 2012, and I've played Vintage online for several months now. I've almost acquired my set of power, just looking for an Emerald and a Pearl. I got into the format primarily watching LSV play Delver on his stream and by watching the VSL.
I'm from Dallas, but currently live in the Bay Area.
