1  Eternal Formats / Creative / TRADING:what's up!?!? on: April 12, 2004, 07:22:35 pm
I think he is venting out on how hard it is to get good cards. I feel ya bro/sis !! All you are able to do is just wait patiently. I am always asking those certain players that have a p9 or two whether or not they are willing to sale or trade for them. Thats all I do. I am like what you can call a bottom dweller. Keep asking around who is selling their stuff cause they need money for either college, wife or etc.

Open your ears to gossip and eyes for those new faces that once a while walk into the card store you hang out at. They could have valuable cards you might not have. So thats my advice. Try saving money every week.
2  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Shahrazad Deck for Multiplayer on: April 05, 2004, 05:21:25 pm
I suggest playing Tormod's Crypt.
I have a friend who has this deck and he uses Tormod's Crypt to slowly eat his opponents deck in every subgame. Essentially he made his Sharazad into some type of milling deck.

This deck is very funny. Too crazy for my taste. Maybe from now on people will put in Engineered Plague into their sideboards.

I don't think so.........

If it's too good to be true, it often is.
Look how legit the site looks. Does it have a storefront? Do they take CC? If both are yes, charge them up - you can always persue a chargeback. If you never take a gamble, you will never score big

According to the website, the have a store address and on the site it does states the store hours. The prices are not really low but they are just slightly cheaper compared to EBay. Even other stuff from theirs are way cheaper compared to EBay stuff like Mana Drain or Nether Voids.

I don't have a credit card so I have to be very careful how I send the money or else I will get burned.

Anyone else here can advice me on how to check this site up ??
5  Eternal Formats / Creative / Best/Cheapest way to get Power!? on: March 03, 2004, 07:03:31 pm
Get the Black Lotus and the Ancestral Recall first. Those two cards are the hottest and most sought after cards in Magic. Once you get those two, save up some more to get the other moxes and such.

By the way, I don't wish to be intrusive or anything but I wish to ask about a some what similar question. I have come upon a website selling power. All the prices of te power are $50-$70 lower than those sold on EBay. I was wondering, it ther any way to check out on the website ? How can I find out if the site is a fraud or selling fake cards or maybe they are actually selling power at those prices ? Is there anywhere or anyone I can turn to for my questions ?

I am sorry for jamming this into your post 13NoVa. Didn't really mean to offend you.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Recourse on Ebay....Success? on: March 01, 2004, 12:44:12 pm
Really good advice. I too nearly lost my money. I was getting a pre-order for 4 Chalice of the Void from a seller that claim he was new to Ebay but has been selling stuff on www.cardshark.com for many years. I bought it and paid for it, a couple days later the guy I bought the cards from became unregistered after a day receiving my money.

It was such a hassle. I file a complain and a refund to PayPal and got back 13 cents. Can you imagine getting 13 cents back on a $16 dollar purchase. I got the sellers phone number and called numerous times but only got the answering machine. I  finally went to the seller in CardShark and talked to him. The excuse for the guy was that he thought he settle out all the purchases made on ebay and he gave me a really stupid reason for being unregistered on EBay.

That really scared me. From that purchase on, I hardly buy on EBay. I only use EBay for price referrences. By the way guys, Is there a way to check out on a website selling magic cards ?? Is there a way to check whether or not the site is legit and not just a fraud ??
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report] 2nd - Kalamazoo 2-28-03 on: March 01, 2004, 11:59:08 am
P.S

Where can I get a decklist for the R/G WASp build that won the tournament and what is the difference between that build and a normal ZOO which I piloted in the tournament ?
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report] 2nd - Kalamazoo 2-28-03 on: March 01, 2004, 11:48:29 am
I do hope I gave the Mana Drain to the rightful owner and not some othe guy. If I did, I would be so mad about doing that. Sad
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / 1st post. Need some help with B/G LD on: February 25, 2004, 08:42:58 pm
Since you are putting in green for Spiritmonger and Deed, why not put in Terravore from the Odyssey set ??
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / [deck help] monoblack LD on: February 25, 2004, 08:02:26 pm
I think this deck can be played with some success. Look at monogreen LD.
I guy in my play group plays MonoGreen LD in a couple type tournaments here and has mostly manage to make top 4 spots very often. Maybe monogreen might be a very different deck compared to a mono black LD but i believe that it could work well.

Now about the creatures. I am not really sure about Visara. She might be good and all but I would very much prefer Nantuko Shade instead. The Shade is very good because you can pump him up as much as you want when you have decimated the opponents mana sources.
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Withered Wretch, etc. in Sui Black? on: February 16, 2004, 12:45:36 pm
I think having 4 maindeck Masticore is too much. You might want to cut down to 3 and have either Necropotence or Skeletal Scrying for cad draw.
In my opinion, card drawing is always a good thing.

If your metagame is aggro heavy, you might even want to maindeck a few other creature kills like Diabolic Edict or Chainer's Edict. Choosing which one is up to you.
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Black Hole a Variant to Chalice Black, Better or not? on: February 11, 2004, 12:41:33 pm
I would suggest keeping the Withered Wretch. He is pretty good against cards that manipulates the graveyard like Pscyhotog, opponents Yawg Will, AK, etc etc....

You actually wanna put all 4 Null Rods in main ?? Maybe take one to the sideboard and replay it with Necro. You can't lose much if you're drawing cards.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Need help picking a deck (stolen post title) on: February 11, 2004, 12:33:16 pm
Maybe you could ask your other teammates on what deck to make.
I would suggest Zoo cause you have the Ruby and Emerald. But on the other hand you have 4 Mana Drains, so maybe Hulk of Fish.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Bloody Suicide NEW, Think with me.... on: February 11, 2004, 12:30:33 pm
Would sinkhole be good in Bloody Sui ?? You can use it to attack their basic lands. How good is Flesh Reaver in this deck ?? I would normally suggest nantuko Shade but in this version of Sui you have less black mana available to pump Shade compared to a mono black Sui.
15  Eternal Formats / Creative / Ankh Sligh on: February 05, 2004, 03:25:09 pm
By the way Fëanor, did you started the deck discussion first in the old forums when TMD was down or was it someone else ??

I think a buddy of mine was the first on who posted the deck. He is Razer51. Just a quick question.

First of all, this should have been a PM, not a post. Second, Sligh has been around forever, and even Ankh Sligh is not new. Trying to figure out who did it first is not only futile, but leads to counterproductive arguments.

16  Eternal Formats / Creative / Deck Discussion, Nether Void: (as requested By Jaco) on: January 27, 2004, 12:42:59 pm
Jaco:
That is true about Negator, but somehow this deck needs more kick in its creature threats. I would suggest Flesh Reaver but somehow I don't like the idea of losing life too when attacking my opponent. That is like one life less for me to draw a card when using Necropotence. Most Keeper build have the most 3 to 2 Decree of Justice.

I have a question myself. How many Pernicious Deeds and Nether Void's to put in the deck ?? I currently run 3 Deeds and 2 Voids. Is that an optimal figure. Maybe one of these days I will post my decklist here for comments and reviews.

Should we even add in Spoils of the Vault in here ? To me it is a tutor which is not restricted and you can play 4 copies in your deck. I might sound silly but I think the card has some potential in here. How bout is guys ??
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Help With PT Funk. on: January 26, 2004, 06:55:50 pm
EchoBoy:
I don't think Hyppies are that bad. At least they get 2 damage in cause it flies and it helps reduce your opponents hand size. Troll are good but like you said before it needs 2 green out. Cabal Therapy can be misdirected too. I personally think that control is ruling Type1 for now. If you really wanna make into T8 in any tournament and survive, you at least have to beat 1 to 3 Controlish type decks. Having that many fetchlands scare me too. Kinda risky in the late game when drawing it.

SwampThing:
Mishra's Factory are not that good in PT Funk. Almost any activated Pernicious Deed will kill it once it's a creature. Besides, you don't run that many or any Nether Void so you don't need to Mishra's Factory.
18  Eternal Formats / Creative / Deck Discussion, Nether Void: (as requested By Jaco) on: January 26, 2004, 01:19:34 pm
Where is our good old fren Phyrexian Negator ?? Does he even have a place in this deck now ?? Both Vamp Tutor and Demonic Consults have disadvantages. It is all up to the user.

Vamp doesn't give you card advantage. The only way to get the card you Vamp for quicker is to do it at end of opponents turn and during your draw you draw the car you tutored for.

Demonic Consult sometimes has a disasterous effect. I have once Consulted for a card that I have 4 ofs in the deck. I got the card and I was left with 8 cards in my library and it was just turn 4. So sometimes it really kills you when doing a Consult.

I am currently thinking of cutting them out totally. Maybe it's a dumb move but Im still playtesting. If I cut them, the only broken cards I would have are Demonic Tutor, Yawg Will and Necropotence. What does everyone think ??

How many Pernicious Deed or Nether Void's do you put into this deck ?? I am trying to find a good number but can't. Can someone here please advice me on this.
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / Help With PT Funk. on: January 26, 2004, 01:03:22 pm
What about Nether Void ? I have testing a PT Funk deck of my own with 2 Nether Voids in replace of the Edicts. I find this deck pretty hard to manuever. Being part Sui itself, this deck needs a lot of Black mana. Adding green into the mix kinda makes it harder. This is just my opinion or maybe I was just playing it wrong.

The Spiritmongers are good but like what Matt said, he is just too slow. I chose not to use River Boa in my deck because I do not really want to relly on green that much. The green there for me is just for the 3 Deeds in main and the 3 Naturalize in Side.

I still like having Hymn to Tourachs in this deck cause it is great in getting 2 cards out from your opponents hand. Compared to Cabal Therapy, you wouldn't think of using its flashback would you ?? Maybe in certain cases but I doubt that not everyone will feel comfortable in sacking a threat in play for another spell.

I would suggest keeping the Negator and Hypie. Take out River Boa for maybe Wretch or nantuko Shade. These 2 new creatures are awesome right now with the rise of Dragon in type1.

Anyway, I don't really think PTF is a viable choice if you're expecting to wade through TPS/DeathLong, Stax/wMUD, Madness (G/r or G/u/r, Oshawa should be better because they're slower, don't have Wonder, and are more permanent-based). TNT and Dragon can also be very rough matches, but at least these you have some tools against.

I think you are right. Personnaly I love SUI very much but I have come to realize that SUI is not a t4 quality deck. I know it is fast and all but it is not really that good nowadays. It hasn't won any recent Type 1 toruneys so far.
20  Eternal Formats / Creative / Ankh Sligh on: January 26, 2004, 12:45:12 pm
Go Ankh Sligh !!
Cool deck Razer51 !!
I kinda don't like the Barbarian Ring. 2 damage not really enough. Pyrite Spellbomb doesn't look to good too if you use it to take a land slot.
How about putting in the new burn spell from the Darksteel set named Pulse of the Forge. Play your land with an Ankh out so that you can return the Pulse of the Forge back to your hand. What do you think HappyField ??
Hey dude, how was the Pre-release of the Darksteel thing ??

How many boxes did you get this time ? Hook a brotha up man !!
21  Eternal Formats / Creative / Is Mono Black Suicide still viable in this year's meta? on: January 26, 2004, 12:34:35 pm
How about adding other colors into SUI ?
Adding green gives you Pernicious Deed and Naturalize.
Adding blue gives you Recoil and Shadowmage Inflitrator.
Adding white gives you Vindicate and Death's Grasp.
How about these colors ?? Will these colors improve SUI chances in the current metagame ??
22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Landstill: continuing the discussion on: January 22, 2004, 03:35:51 pm
OK, Im thinking of getting out the Disk for Scepters. How about that ?
Would it mess the deck up too much or what ??
23  Eternal Formats / Creative / T1 Cards in Darksteel on: January 22, 2004, 03:34:23 pm
I am kinda excited with this new set. It would be pretty good if I was actually playing or planning to make a TnT, Welder Mud or a Stax deck.
So many new artifacts to abuse like the Modular creatures and the Trinisphere. Another card to make Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, AK and all the jewelry to cost more. Hoses the P9 players.
Hehehehhe !!!
24  Eternal Formats / Creative / Mono Black Suicide on: January 22, 2004, 03:11:28 pm
I have a weird suggestion. How about taking the Mind Twist and Haunting Echoes for 2 Nether Void's ?? Would this totally change the deck and the way it works ??

14 swamps look pretty good to me. It's just me anyways.
25  Eternal Formats / Creative / Landstill: continuing the discussion on: January 22, 2004, 03:01:40 pm
How about adding in Isochron Scepter ?? With this card imprinted with a Lightning Bolt or even a Mana Drain, it would just kill the opponent and it works well with the overall theme of the deck.

I played against a Landstill deck b4 in a type1 tourney and he imprinted a Bold and Mana Drain. Let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. I was playing Chalice Black at the time.
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Is Mono Black Suicide still viable in this year's meta? on: January 22, 2004, 02:55:13 pm
Having Bloody Sui is pretty good against artifact decks.Blood Moon totally kills all the Mishra's Workshops and Rack & Ruin just hoses the artifacts they play. How about Shattering Pulse for Bloody SUI ? How about splashing other colors into SUI ? Will other colors like WHite or even Green work better against artifact decks ??

I myself is a great supporter of SUI and I am debating myself what sort of color to splash. I think Green is kinda cool because you get to use Pernicious Deed and Naturalize. But If you add these cards, then it won't be SUI anymore. It'll be PT FUNK, I am just so confused on what to splash for my SUI.
