1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Strawberry parfait on: August 06, 2004, 09:48:03 pm
Well,i recently took this to a tournament expecting to do poorly.  Ironically I took first with a match record of 4-0.  Here is the list I am running as of now.

STRAWBERRY PARFAIT

4 land tax
2 scroll rack
1 pursuit of knowledge
4 isochron scepter
4 orim's chant
2 abeyance
3 blood moon
2 powder keg
4 swords to plowshares
2 ivory tower
1 planar birth
2 zuarn orb
2 story circle
1 enlightened tutor
3 disenchant
1 soldevi digger
2 goblin charbelcher
1 black lotus
1 mox pearl
1 sol ring
1 mana vault
1 tolarian academy
2 wasteland
1 stripmine
2 mountain
10 plains

Wel here it is.
Some things i have been considering are
crucible of worlds
aura of silence

the sideboard is still going through lots of change so i cant really put anything down.  I did use rule of law as sideboard for tendrils hate.  Is that the best?
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / 2-land belcher on: July 15, 2004, 09:51:33 pm
I feel that this deck is one of the fastest in the format.
For starteres, this is the list i've been working with.

BELCHER

 win
4 goblin charbelcher

2 viridian shaman
1 goblin welder
1 xantid swarm
4 phyrexian negator
1 scavenger folk
1 evilsh lyrist
2 chain of vapor

Well, here is my list.
Obviously, the deck kills with belcher, but can alos kill with a tnedrils.  ON averege the deck belches on turn 3, but belches on 2 lot of times.  As far as I knwo i am one of the only ones running Bargain and it has fit well IMO.  If it resolves it's usually an auto-win.  I like the deck better than Draw7 because it has the ability to get aaround crap like first turn null rod and rootmaze because of the deck's flexibility with living wish.  I definitely think the deck is tier1.
Do you think this deck is a top contender in today's meta?? Question
What changes should be made? Question
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / (single card discussion) MOAT on: May 03, 2004, 05:54:31 pm
Embarassed yea it really doesn't do much of anything against slavery then
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / (single card discussion) MOAT on: May 03, 2004, 05:47:44 pm
One of my old favorites:

Moat
cc: 2ww
Creatures without flying can not attack

I have been running a moat in an old scholl keeper i've been testing with.  I wouldn't not like to discuss that deck though, but instead the card itself.
Here is what it has been helping against:

Oshwa stompy: they don't attack, keep zealots or what not away and it's game.

Tog: This has helped against tog, somewhat.  Tog usually can deed it away but... there is always a chance they won't b able to resolve a deed.  It has helped about35-45% of the time.

madness: there stuff flies, little effect.

Fish:  so so, it depends on what rhey run and how many of there beatsticks fly.

slavery:  it isn't all that great, but it does keep away pentivaus.

fcg: very good since hey only combo 1/2 the time.

Keep in mind that there is quite a lot of aggro in my meta-game, so there are a lot of decks this comes in handy against.

So, what do you guys think about moat?
5  Eternal Formats / Creative / warlockers tog on: April 28, 2004, 08:15:43 pm
i def. think that the wastes are more important than the 4th color.
Essentially, that allows me to drop the ruby for a sol ring.

The sideboard now looks like this though:

1 berserk
1 oxidize
1 stifle
1 misdirection
1 vampiric tutor
1 fact or fiction
1 diabolic edict
2 deep analysis
3 back to basics
2 coffin purge
1 naturalize
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / warlockers tog on: April 28, 2004, 07:42:45 pm
First of all, thanks.

Nextly,
here is a new list!!

You got served 1.00

4 force of will
4 mana drain
3 duress

1 pernicious deed
2 gorilla shaman

4 brainstorm
1 ancestral recal
1 time walk
1 demonic tutor
1 mystical tutor
1 yawgmoth's will
3 cunning wish

4 acumulated knowledge
2 deep analysis
3 intuition

3 tog

4 pollted delta
3 underground sea
3 tropical island
3 volcanic island
1 lotus
4 moxen
1 mana crypt
1 library of alexandria
1 stripmine
2 wasteland

sideboard//

1 berserk
1 oxidize
1 stifle
1 misdirection
1 vampiric tutor
1 fact or fiction
1 artifact mutation
2 deep analysis
3 red elemental blast
2 coffin purge
1 rack and ruin

Is this better now with red??
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / warlockers tog on: April 27, 2004, 08:32:52 pm
That's an exteremely good point.

-1 mox pearl

+1 mana crypt

Also, i can not cut the strips.  There are critical for my meta.  Otherwise the sol ring would go in as well. Embarassed
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / warlockers tog on: April 27, 2004, 07:42:27 pm
It's hard to add sol ring/crypt because i dont want to lack on the colored mana..

Red wasn't added because i dodn't feel it neccessary, but...

it may be an option.

Can anyone give me a list for the most powerful red cards in T-O-G

thanks
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / warlockers tog on: April 26, 2004, 08:49:17 pm
Well, after taking a long, hard lok at my meta i can see this as being the absolute best deck choice.  The reason being it's versatility and flexibility to the colorful matchups i see like combo and aggro.
Many of my choices are metagame appropriate whicih i'll explain but for now:

You can't handle 1.00

3 psychatog

4 force of will
4 mana drain
3 duress

2 pernicious deed

4 brainstorm

4 accumulaed knowledge
2 deep analysis
3 intuiton

1 demonic tutor
1 mystical tutor  ( my beliefs on this card are expressed below) 31
1 ancestral recal
1 time walk
3 cunning wish
1 yawgmoth's will

4 pollted delta
4 underground sea
4 tropical island
1 lotus
5 moxen
1 library of alexandria
1 stripmine
3 wasteland

sideboard//

1 berserk
1 oxidize
1 stifle
1 misdirection
1 vampiric tutor
1 fact or fiction
1 diabolic edict
2 deep analysis
1 capsize
3 coffin purge
2 naturalize

Well, here is my list.  The deck itself is pretty standard but..

3 Intuition:  Yes, i believe that is a stronger number allowing for much faster cards drawing when an intuition is seen sooner.

Mystical tutor is a great card, IMP.  It allows fora draw of anything ou of the deck minus togs and deeds.

Duress has also proven invaluable against combo.

the strips are also in my build because they are too diruptive not to run in my meta.

Thanks...
again
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / (deck discussion) u/r phid on: April 26, 2004, 08:04:42 pm
Alright, here is my list for blue/red ophidian.  The reasoning behind me playing this in my meta is that combo has recently taken a rise in my meta as well as control.
First of all, here is the list:

4 force of will
4 mana drain
3 mana leak

4 brainstorm
3 impulse
1 mystical tutor
4 OPHIDIAN ( thus the name of the deck)
2 cunning wish
1 ancestral recall
1 time walk

3 bloodmoon

4 powder keg
1 fire/ice

2 morphling

1 lotus
5 moxen
1 library of alexandria
3 wasteland
1 stripmine
3 polluted delta
3 volcanic island
6 island

sideboard//
1 rack and ruin
1 capsize
1 hurkyl's recal
1 red elemental blast
1 blue elemental blast
2 fire/ice
4 stifle
4 flametongue kavu

The deck is playable because of bloodmoon.  This diruptive tool, backed by 4 strips usually allows for a shut down of non-basics, without destroying your own gameplan.  The reason for the odd number of volcanics and sacs is to better the deck after a resolved bloodmoon.  Everything else is self-explanatory, and for the record, mana leak is a jewel in this deck. (a topic brought up in earlier mono-u posts)

Thanks
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Mono blue trix on: April 25, 2004, 08:55:28 pm
your probably right

3 back to basicsd would be more appropriate than 3 stifle
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Mono blue trix on: April 19, 2004, 10:42:20 am
Well.....  first of all, 4 polluted delta must be included as well as i would like to drop 3 tifle for 3 cunning wish.  Does anybody know what i could add to the sideboard to make c. wish more productiv???

Also i didn't add black or white because i wanted it to be a mono-colored deck= no weakness to wasteland or other hate.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Mono blue trix on: April 18, 2004, 06:41:53 pm
Before I release the decklist I will explain to you my card choices and of course, how the deck works.

The deck wins by playing an ilusions of granduer, then donating it to your opponent.  The deck can also pone with a morphling.
Win:  3 illusions, 2 donate, 1 morphling.

Draw engine: intuition + ak/da- this seems to be the fastest blue draw engine in the format right now, being able to draw 3 and 4 cards in a single AK.

Permission: force of will, mana drain, stifle-  without counters the deck would be much weaker to, well anything

Restricted:  power nine, mystical tutor, gush, fact or fiction- all restricted for obvious reasons

Other:  Brainstorm, merchant scroll-all strong blue cards

Now the deck....

Mono-blue-trix-1.0

4 force of will
4 mana drain
3  stifle

3 illusions of granduer
2 donate
1 morphling
1 rushing river

4 brainstorm
3 intuiton
4 accumulated knowledge
2 deep analysis
2 merchant scroll

1 ancestral recall
1 time walk
1 gush
1 fact or fiction
1 time twister
1 windfall

1 lotus
5 moxen
15 island

NO STRIPS- i couldn't find the room, they just don't work towards the deck's cause.

sideboard..
3 nevinyrral's disk
1 morphling
1 stifle
4 chain of vapor
4 hurkyl's recal
2 deep analysis

I really haven't tested nearly enough to put up my results but I will have them shortly.  Soooooooooo... what do you think?
 Question

You made a decent attempt at an explanation, but the post and decklist itself overall is lacking. Moved to Newbie Forum. Also, pone is definitely not a word. Its PWN.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / The return of... BBS on: April 16, 2004, 12:18:51 pm
Well, for starters, i have revised my list to this:

4 force of will
4 mana drain
4 stifle

4 brainstorm
4 impulse
1 mystical tutor
1 FoF
1 ancestral recal
1 time walk

4 ophidian
2 morphling

1 capsize
3 back to basics
4 powder keg

1 lotus
1 library of alexandria
5 moxen
15 island

the sideboard is:

4 nevinyyral's dik
4 annul
3 capsize
4 arcane laboratory

In testing:  the ak engine was bad b/c it drew me the cards too fast.  After a sudden burst i couldn't just go off and win like tog could, so back to impulse.

This deck does good against prison decks in my testing b/c once u weather the storm of dirupive artifacts, and counter all there threats its not too hard.  Back to basics + stifle are key in this matchup.
Tog has been 50% at winning.  Usually it is very dependent on who gets the more broken draw, and who can stabilize faster.
oath- haven't seen trouble thus far
Combo- too many counters for them to handle
Sui- tough matchup cause they throw a lot a threats out fast + disruption-same with madness

Overall the most trouble has been with TnT because of there speed + disruption =- ouch

Idea=Does this deck deserve a color splash withouyt becoming tog
??

17  Eternal Formats / Creative / New Decks Are Hard To Make. on: April 12, 2004, 08:44:40 pm
New decks are hard to make because a lot of people won't let them get better.  Rcently I put up a list of a mono-blue deck and it was instanly ripped at.  I was trying to make a "new deck" but if no-one is going to try and make it better then why even post it on TMD.

Quote
And the point of the site is to get mutually better, rather than to teach from the ground-up.

How is anyone going to get better if you are not going to teach them.  Telling someone that there deck is bad is one thing, but not helping them with it is another.  All it will do is stray new people away from t1.

Original idea is good.  Lately I have been reading around TMD deck discussions, and all I see is different versions of tier 1 decks.  Obvioously, if the deck has seen 10 top 8's in the last eleven tourneys it is good.  I'm afraid people are forgetting about a mono-g ld deck that won in germany some time ago.
18  Eternal Formats / Creative / TRADING:what's up!?!? on: April 12, 2004, 08:06:27 pm
A place not mentioned is the internet.  Well, it was but not from my point of view.  If I can not get the cards I need by trading, I just save money or ask my charitable grand-parents to help me buy cards.  Try places like card-haus, anycraze, and even e-bay.  You may be forced to chip in that extra ten bucks for a set of survival's, but you won't have to worry about getting rid of any of your cards.
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / The return of... BBS on: April 12, 2004, 07:58:09 pm
Iv'e taken your guys advice and here is the new build:

4 force of will
4 mana drain
4 stifle
3 mana leak

3 brainstorm
4 acumulated knowledge
3 intuiton
1 ancestral
1 time walk
1 mystical tutor
1 FoF

4 powder keg
3 back to basics

3 morphling

1 lotus
5 moxen
1 stripmine
14 island

//sb
4 nevinnural's disk
4 annul
4 capsize
3 arcane laboratory

Is this build any better?

I uped the morphling count to 3 so they can be snagged off intuition, plaus a 4th keg went in, and a brainstorm came out for a fact or fiction, soooooooo.............. Wink
20  Eternal Formats / Creative / The return of... BBS on: April 06, 2004, 06:53:41 pm
my meta isn't anythjing spectacular.  There is only one other person with with power other than I.  There is some oath, fish, slavery, and rogue builds.  I am gonna drop 3 isochron in the board for 3 oppresion.
21  Eternal Formats / Creative / The return of... BBS on: April 06, 2004, 10:53:29 am
Lately I have been teting with a new build of mono-u, an archetype that hasn't been played in a while.  It has been pretty strong in testing against slavery, and combo(duh) and has been simply mediocore against aggro.
here is the list

4 force of will
4 mana drain
4 mana leak
4 stifle (tech)

4 brainstorm
4 impulse
1 ancestral
1 time walk

3 powder keg
2 nevinyrral's disk

4 ophidian
2 morphlig

1 sol ring
1 lotus petal
1 black lotus
5 moxen
14 island
1 stripmine

//sb
2 nevinyrral's disk
2 morphling
3 isochron scepter
4 annul ( tested  great)
4 arcane laboratory

Do u think this is still a viable deck.  Please help with my build

4 Nantuko shade
4 Phyrexian negator
2 Spirit monger
24  Eternal Formats / Creative / A new test deck... does it have potential?? on: January 28, 2004, 10:01:52 pm

4 Duress
1 Mind twist

2 Zuarn orb
4 Land tax
1 Planar birth
2 Soldevi digger

4 isochron scepter

4 Argivian find
4 Swords to plowshares
4 Orim's chant

1 Demonic tutor
1 Vampiric tutor
1 Enlightened tutor
1 necropotence

2 Decree of justice
 Twisted Evil
1 Sol ring
4 Dark ritual

2 Bloodstained mire

sb//
tryin to define and finish the deck first Rolling Eyes
25  Eternal Formats / Creative / Power Burn on: January 28, 2004, 09:48:38 pm
I would go with recless charge over shock.  I think it is potentially more damage and can give you mid-late game burn when you flash it back.
