4pm is a bit late to make the drive from Kalamazoo. I will see if I can make this work though!
2  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Team Serious Open - Warren, MI - May 16th on: April 20, 2015, 10:56:53 am
I have been to a couple, and we have had in the low twenties when I have been there.
3  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Team Serious Open - Warren, MI - March 7th on: February 24, 2015, 11:40:15 am
I think a couple of us from the Kzoo area will be heading to this event.
4  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: So Many Insane Plays #38: Vintage on Magic Online & The Vintage Super League on: September 24, 2014, 11:06:57 am
Great podcast!  Always glad to see a new one come up in the queue!

As many of us, I am new to MTGO but I am really liking the experience!  The worst part of the program (that I have experienced) is the clunkyness of flusterstorm.  It has only come up a couple times, but it can be really nerve racking trying to counter a flusterstorm with a flusterstorm, or trying to counter multiple spells with a single flusterstorm.  I probably will just get better at it, but should that be the solution from Wizards?  Just get better at our bad system?
5  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Team Serious Open - Warren, MI - July 26th on: July 28, 2014, 12:49:56 pm
We had 5 of us come from the GR/Kzoo/BC area in West Michigan.  It was a great event at a very nice store!  Cant wait to do it again.  I split in T8 with a fun blue/white stoneforge list with Consacrated Sphinx.

I am in!
12  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: *** Team Serious Midwest Vintage Series *** on: May 13, 2013, 11:02:45 am
1) Detroit

2) 3 hours or so

3) Just cool cards, foil, foreign, vintage staples

4) The most important thing to me in a venue is security.  If I am bringing a deck worth 12k, I want to feel safe in the area.

5) I dont need proxies.
13  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Team Serious Open - Sandusky - June 22 on: May 13, 2013, 10:58:13 am

The guys from Kalamazoo all had a great time at this event.  Great location, event, and people.  We hope to do this more often.  Where will you guys be posting the pictures for the T8?

Thanks!
16  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Team Serious Open - Sandusky, Ohio - December 3 on: October 24, 2011, 11:28:55 am
Kalamazoo should have 5 or 6 coming.  Looking forward to it.

Great, looking forward to it!

There are about 4 of us that would like to come from the Kalamazoo, MI area, but that is a long way to drive and get turned down due to the event filling up.  Is there any way to pre-register, or is it extremely unlikely to hit the 32 participants?
19  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report]Winner Melbourne, Australia with Meandeck Slaver on: November 17, 2004, 04:45:58 pm
I have been playing this deck a lot lately and I have found Platinum Angel to be extremely effective against oath, in addition to the spellbomb.  I agree with Toad that overall the matchup is about even.
20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report] Kalamazoo Compulsion Tournament 3rd/4th on: November 17, 2004, 04:36:16 pm
The last person in the top 8 was Rich's friend Aaron(?) from up north.  The only cards i remember him playing was TFK, trinisphere, sphere of resistance, juggs, smokestack, and goblin welder.
21  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report] Kalamazoo Compulsion Tournament 3rd/4th on: November 15, 2004, 04:58:49 pm
Great report!
I had a blast playing and cant wait for the next one.  Sorry again about the round 2 dilema, but whatever, it is always a blast playing against you.  I only wish that we could have met in the finals, but i am sure the result would have been the same, me losing to dragon.  Anyways, it was a fun tourney and we hope to do it again soon.  Next time we have to get the whole Detroit crew to make their way over!  Later.

22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Is Control Slaver still viable? on: November 14, 2004, 10:38:08 am
First off, I think that you have a great deck at your hands.  I Just took a mana drain home this week thanks to this deck.  Like others have said, I dont think that the question is whether the deck is good or not, but is it being played correctly.  Lately I have been running two intuitions and they have been game breaking.  Just a thought.

24  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Budget] G/W Stompy (an alternative) on: June 07, 2004, 01:50:51 pm
I'm currently playing 3 winter orb and they are awesome! They are well worth cutting slots for since it locks down any control deck, and they never hurt you.
25  Eternal Formats / Creative / [deck] my view on dragon on: May 19, 2004, 09:11:09 am
A must have in this deck is compulsion.  It allows you to set up your hand before you go for the win, besides the obvious graveyard outlet.  As others have mentioned, necromancy is also a must.  The ability to combo out at instant speed after they attemt to crypt you for example is much more apealing to me than stifleing their crypt.  Just my thoughts, good luck.

27  Eternal Formats / Creative / T2 Regional, cards, and the Type 1 player. on: April 29, 2004, 02:08:40 pm
this will be my first time to regionals, will the dealers there have any T1 cards?  I am guessing not, but just curious.  I am looking forward to a big day of trading.
28  Eternal Formats / Creative / First shot at TnT' on: April 21, 2004, 03:14:04 pm
I think that you should cut down to only one squee.  As long as you have him in your hand at the beginning of each turn you should be fine.  I like karn better than the mox monkey because 1) he is an artifact and 2) i like to be able to attack with the trinisphere and play all of my cheap spells and drop another 3sphere at the end.  Just a thought.  How do you handle artifact mutation?  At my last tourney, I only lost two games and they were both due to them pulling off art. mutations off when I was vulnerable.
29  Eternal Formats / Creative / First shot at TnT' on: April 18, 2004, 09:30:17 pm
I agree with you about the mongrels, good point.  But i think that the pillars are past their prime since storm isnt as hot now.  Trinisphere is amazing if you go first.  What do you think about mox monkeys?  Right now i am just using karn to kill moxes, but what does everyone else think?
30  Eternal Formats / Creative / First shot at TnT' on: April 18, 2004, 08:41:13 pm
I would suggest adding a solemn simulacrum or two.  In my build I run one mountain and three forests to fetch with him.  The forests avoid the wastelands when i am going nuts with the SotF.  Unless dragon is big, i would move the angel to the sb.  Blood moon is HUGE, a must in my opinion, in my last tourney I had my opponent scoop twice after it resolved, they couldnt believe i had it main.  TNT is big where i play so i pack an artifact mutation main, but that is a meta choice.  An other card to think about is elf replica, he is very handy in the sb.  Good luck.
