Opponent : his bob reveal 'tinker' and waiting for artifact to be sacrificed Me : afraid so much for that 'tinker' and then cast demonic tutor to find duress Me again : cast duress, and my opponent remind me that I already set one counter for my own Chalice of the Void. .

Legacy version for Imperial Painter has been popular all over the world and prove itself as one of the most competitive deck. . I've been trying to convert this build into Vintage and comparing with your list, there's some differences : 1. Oopz, I forget about Gorilla Shaman (I use Viashino Heretic), I'll try at least 1. . 2. Vexing Susher is good, insane if your meta full with Chalice of the Void, 1 is enough. . 3. Dead/Gone?? WhoHOOO, I always love this card and I agree, 3 is the right number. . 4. Stingscourger doesn't needed, but it depends on your meta. . 5. Try Faerie Macabre, not as good as Tormod for graveyard hate, but this creatures is tutorable by Imperial. . 6. I don't know if spellshock is that good, I'll look it out 7. WHEEL of FORTUNE!! fit mana curve, dig more for Grindstone or other combo pieces, dig more mana producer, dig for protection (SSG + pyroblast as red Force of Will)
EDITED : In Legacy area, anti-creature spell is everywhere, even Lightning Bolt can kill Paiter easily, but Grindstone usually get free. . In Vintage area, artifact haters are everywhere so it'll be more difficult to protect both Painter and Grindstone, maybe I'll try for Welder in the future. .

unknown how this deck will fair in Brave New World of Vintage, but previously I found white was vital, for plowshares, to prevent them from replaying all their guys from yard if they manage to win counter war over yawgwill. also, Ive won a lot of games by going all in and d-consulting for balance
Do you mean you cast Demonic Consultation to tutor Balance?? Well, all this time I think tutoring a restricted card using Demon Consul is forbidden since it's super risky. . But if someone have tried it and reach a lot of victory, I'll do it too In what condition this act should be done?

^ Also I don't like Cruicible. .Good, powerful, but usually don't have time to cast it or even weld it. . But sensei is a good idea, I'd try. .
I've tried, all possible card in mind to make this deck more consistent. . With tutors (Vampiric Tutor, Demonic Tutor, Imperial Seal, Demonic Consultation, even Gamble. .Entomb????) Deck Thinners (fetchlands, street wraith). . Drawer Engines (Dark Confidant, Bazaar + Squee, even Night Whisper). . Spell Revival (Welder and Unearth). . but still find that something missing to seal it as a competitive deck with consistency as the biggest issue. .
And I agree Welder is NOT a plan B, but I also realize that this build really needs a plan B (maybe aggro-way?)
EDIT : This what I called 'aggro-way': Grim Lavamancer Boneshard Slasher else?

So i've been thinking a bit the last couple of weeks of how to make a painter/grindstone deck in a non-blue shell since I just hate blue, and rather quit magic than playing with cards like merchant scroll, gush and force of will same here I really like bazaar in this deck, it allows for quick digging for duresses/red blasts while dumping combo pieces and fat artifacts in the yard, ready to be recurred later on with goblin welder. agree So overall I'm satisfied with how the deck preformed. It's pretty fun being able to 'say no' with a non-blue deck. Hurray Anyways, the main reason I'm posting here is: anyone has any idea's or comments on maybe improving this deck and will it be any good in the post-20th june vintage meta?
/Liiva
Okay, let's get serious Your list looks solid, but I think my fave card Demonic Consultation is worth to have a place. . Also I suggest for the legendary Jaya Balard, she's good against aggro thx to her incinerate ability. . Also the 1st ability along with servant will make her a walking vindicate. . In sideboard, with all people prediction Ichorid and Belcher will dominate the meta, maybe Thorn of Amethyst / Sphere will have a place to be thought. .

^ About Blessing, I think that's why blue archetype of servant deck contain 2-3 stifle at average. .
I'm still looking what are you people think about mirror match up, (Servant + 8 Red Blast vs Servant + 8 Red Blast). . What strategy can be run since one player will be happy when another successfully cast his / her servant. .
Good point to include this combo to some old deck like Bomberman. . Splashable really is servant / grindstone big advantage to be solid. . Still waiting to see non-blue and non-workshop based to build. .

Im highly satisfied w the performance so far. I will post detailed matchup results soon
I'm waiting Because in my opinion, controlling with only 1 Grindstone as winning condition will be a hard time. . We can't depend on Bob / Servant / SSG / Macabre as a beater anyway. . -EDIT- Owh yeah additional question just come in my mind. . Since Painter's deck is everywhere this day, what's your plan against mirror? Especially 'gush' and 'workshop' based type. .

Tattermunge Maniac : say no, for RG beatz maybe Fulminator Mage : owh yeah, the best card for TMWA in this expansion Vexing Shusher : hmm, good but not that great, SB. . Guttural Response : for TMWA which always contain , REB and Pyroblast are simply better Wheel of Sun and Moon : just interesting, useful? I don't think so. . Runed Halo : for this time meta, yes. . Ashenmoor Gouger : nope, vanilla. . Farie Macabre : another grave-hate best tool, no color required, free, instant speed, owh thanks GOD!! Firespout : no no no, TMWA is a creatures based deck. . Smash to Smithereens : damage, not really necessary Manamorphose : not for TMWA Fossil Find : no comment. . Heap Doll : with Extirpate, TOrmod's Crypt, Leyline of The Void, and brand new Farie Macabre, this one has no chance to glow

Runed Halo* Enchantment Rare As Runed Halo comes into play, name a card. You have protection from the named card. (You can't be targeted by it, and all damage that would be dealt to you by it is prevented) What are your thoughts on Runed Halo? its like a True Believer that can also name creatures (Such as DSC, Piledriver, Tarmogoyf, Psychatog, Quirion Dryad or Virulent Sliver delaying the poison counters). Is it too narrow or do you foresee it being played? I'm not sure on the effectiveness of this card as a silver bullet yet, but it seems usable. Also I think this trend of white's Can't-Be-Played-control may lead to a very disruptive new archetype in the future. Feel free to comment on Runed Halo 1st Issue is its . 2nd issue, decks run multiple win conditions. Storm Combo runs both warrens and tendrils, name one and they easily get the other. Flash is in general changing to the Lark kill, name Mogg Fanatic? Get a X/X feeder on you next turn. Card is horrid vs. any form of Aggro. Name Dryad against GAT? Take a goyf or Tog to the face. Colossus? Tendrils or X which is whatever the hell they run aside from that. Its cute but unreliable to cast and too broad to be effective. I'm sorry for asking. . But is it work if we name Empty the Warrens?? Since Warren says : "Put two 1/1 red Goblin creature tokens into play. Storm (When you play this spell, copy it for each spell played before it this turn.) " Consider we name ' Goblin' as a name, will all goblin token's damages be prevented by Runed Halo?

This card made my eyes brighter : =================================================================================== Runed Halo* Enchantment Rare As Runed Halo comes into play, name a card. You have protection from the named card. (You can't be targeted by it, and all damage that would be dealt to you by it is prevented) =================================================================================== Fit for this day meta? Yes, it's an anti for Goyf, Dryad, Dreadnought, even Darksteel Colossus won't crash it. . As additional function this card also prevent you to lose from any tendril and brain freeze storm combo. . (for Empty the Warren, I don't know if goblin token can be considered as a card??) Cost for double white sure make it less playable, so. .??

Shadowmoor bring us some interesting creatures to be thought as possible army in TMWA style. . They are :
Sygg, River Cutthroat {ub}{ub} Legendary Creature - Merfolk Rogue Rare At end of turn, if an opponent has lost 3 or more life this turn, you may draw a card. (Damage causes loss of life.) Illus. Jeremy Enecio #176/301 1/3
Blue-Black Hybrid so I assume TMWA only use her black side. . She has no big impact for the metagame but with the right build (maybe with burn) we can use her as advantage. .
Fulminator Mage 1{br}{br} Creature - Elemental Shaman Rare Sacrifice Fulminator Mage: Destroy target nonbasic land. "Unsafe Terrain Ahead - Turn Back" -Sign near the former location of Pyrtagh Cairn Illus. R.K. Post #188/301 2/2
What a nice black-red hybrid. .wasteland with legs to attack and block and possibility to re-use by creature revival spells. .
Vexing Shusher {rg}{rg} Creature - Goblin Shaman Rare Vexing Shusher can't be countered by spells or abilities. {rg}: Target spell can't be countered by spells or abilities. 2/2
Powerful, just awesome, walking Pyroblast I'd say. .

Here's my latest build for TMWA, please take a look Lands (17) : 4 Bloodstained Mire 1 Polluted delta 4 Badlands 1 Scrubland 1 Plateau 5 Swamp Mana Artifacts (5) : 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Pearl 1 Lotus Petal 1 Black Lotus Artifacts (4) : 4 Aether's Vial Creatures (20) : 4 Magus of The Moon 4 Jagget Poppet 4 Simian Spirit Guide 4 Gathan Riders 1 Aven Mindcensor 1 Jotun Grunt 2 Maralen of The Mornsong Instant (10) : 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Demonic Consultation 1 Hide/Seek 1 Extirpate 1 Snuff Out 2 Slaughter Pact 3 Pyrokinesis Sorceries (4) : 4 Thoughtseize The idea is same with standard BR TMWA with Jagget Poppet build plus I add inside in order to put Maralen + Mincensor control. . (stop gush, stop scroll, stop flash if it's not too late). . With Maralen, Vial is a must, sure we don't want our opponents take the advantage first. . And sure I don't add vial just for Maralen but we'll see how much effective its interaction with the others. . Jotunt Grunt is there to recycle spell that used and search it again with Maralen. . Very rough bulid?? Yes. . Not tested well?? Yes. . So I'm waiting for your criticism, be nice

You guys should test out Cranial Extraction - it's really the cheapest thing you can run that pro-actively stops topdecks (for extirpate they have to have had something in hand, and things like gravestorm only get 1-2 cards). With Thoughtseize/Duress/Therapy it shouldn't be too hard to resolve one. I know it costs 4, but it seems like once you have things under control (i.e., you've disrupted their early game), 4 mana shouldn't be too problematic.
If you run for your deck, Hide/Seek will be a better option. . Cranial's ability is there only to prevent Flash/Oath from their winning condition and you can find they will always one step ahead since > or

Green is a competitive color this day since the present of Goyf. . Everyone try to put it in as additional to be a faster clock or something. . I myself find it's fun to play kind of 'Dawn of the Dead' aggro control deck. . But as I remember from what TMWA's creator. . This deck was called TMWA because : 1. It contains 2. Say no to blue x x 3. Could be supported by other colors especially and 4. It's fun to play it. . I'm not sure if we put green inside, this deck still can be TMWA type. . Since it will be a brand new deck and maybe it'll have a brand new name too. . One big issues that I want to make you remember is : Previous TMWA thread was closed because it need to be refreshed. . The 1st list from the 1st page is totally not similar with the last list that is discusses that time except for Moxen. . So in my opinion, this thread is started by R/B TMWA (hellbent disruption style) and R/W TMWA (man prison style) or R/B/W (solution style). . Maybe we can just start a discussion based on that fact. . Just a thought from a TMWA fans and player. . EDIT : Tyrant Oath is in its golden age this time. . The latest R/B version has handled GAT, Bomberman and many decks in the meta but still has many big problems to face Oath. . What can we do about it? --mancer--

Since you attack your opponent's manabase, will couples of sphere will be fit in this deck? It'll be hard to cast something when you're running out of mana and your spell's cc is being increased. .

Old Goblins Deck (before Earwig's era) contain full set of Leyline of the Void and Magus of the Moon to play in main deck. . Since GAT is dominating the meta now, LotV'd be remove to SB but MotM is still worthed though he isn't a goblin. . Also I recommend for Thoughtseize / Duress (depend on your meta) > Therapies. . Exact hand removal is better than 2x therapies experiment in my opinion. . What do you all think about it?

Imo the core of any Goblin build should be:
4 Lackeys 4 Piledrivers 4 Warchiefs
I think that should be the undeniable starting point when designing a deck. Warchiefs just add so much to Goblins it's hard to imagine less than 4. I think Ringleaderss could be fine as a 3 of and it wouldn't be a problem.
I really like the Earwigs. I would say the best 1-drops (in order) are Lackey, Fanatic, and Vandal. If you choose to play with 4 then ten or twelve 1-drops would easily help you see a turn 2 Earwig, which is what you want. I'm new to Prowl though, how exactly is it affected by Warchiefs and/or Spheres?
Mike
Ringleaderless is okay but I can't imagine goblin deck without tutor, so between Matron and Recruiter, what do you like to prefer? Also about Vial and off-color Mox, I'd test which is better. . I played RB Goblins in my local vintage tourney last week and find similar case about Prowl Cost and Sphere. . And based on my local judge's decision, I must pay one more when I want to play it with prowl way. . So when Sphere of Resistance is in the play, Earwig Squad's prowl cost will be . . Prowl Cost is an alternate cost to play a spell, same as you pitch a blue card and pay 1 life for Force of Will. . EDIT : I don't know about the relation with Warchief, but my theory will say its prowl cost will be reduced with the same way. .

Has anyone tried out Rakdos Augermage? He looks pretty sweet acting like a duress effect everturn after he waits a turn and isn't too shabby in combat thanks to his first strike. At worst he pitchs to unmask at best he can help you maintain your hellbent poppets and keep the opposing player's options limited. I might be trying to be too cute including him though, it might make the deck look like an old type 2 rakdos deck I've tried him and find he's good unless his casting cost. . 2 black is out of option except you find a fine manabase. .

Countryside Crusher is horrible for your list especially because it costs double red and you only run 16 lands (6 fetch?). . In many case this giant won't be a monster, just vanilla creature 3/3 or 4/4. .

@rkmancer: I have playtested DotD against Oath often, and it always got clobbered hardcore. In your experience, do the 4x Ray of Revelations go the distance against them?
As Mr Polynomial P said about Oath match up : As far as the oath matchup goes, it can be painful if you dont find ray of revelation. Generally, if they get to oath once, you've lost. Try to duress their oath initially, or clear their hand of counters to gear up for Ray of revelation. 4x Ray of Revelations because I want to see it in my opening hand. .Ray is the most powerful tool against oath beside all discard spells so it'll be fully needed in Oath metagame. .1 Ray usually destroy 1 Oath and pray it won't be extirpated until the opponent find another. .Ray make you don't have to fear drop your creature since this deck reach victory with them and there's no other way but creatures. .In average, 1 Tarmogoyf need 4 turn to beat into the death and Ray will give you that chance. .

Here's my report about my latest tourney (20/01/08 15.00-end) piloting this deck. . It's only local tourney in my country and since not so many vintage players here, we've just 12 players and it means that 4 rounds to go. . Only the top 3 get the prize and I finish on the 2nd place. .I have a good time and really enjoy it. . Here's the list : Maindeck : Land (20) : 4 Bazaar of Baghdad 3 Bloodstained Mire 2 Windswept Heath 3 Bayou 2 Scrubland 1 Swamp 1 Riftstone Portal 3 Wasteland 1 Strip Mine Artifact Mana (7) : 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Diamond 1 Lotus Petal 1 Black Lotus Creatures (17) : 4 Squee 4 Tarmogoyf 4 Dark Confidant 3 Gaddock Teeg 2 Jotun Grunt Instant (5) : 4 Swords to Plowshares 1 Vampiric Tutor Sorcery (10) : 1 Balance 2 Life from the Loam 4 Thoughtseize 3 Duress Enchantment (1) : 1 Zombie Infestation Sideboard (15) : 4 Thorn of Amethyst 4 Leyline of the Void 4 Ray of Revelation 2 Oxidize 1 Krosan Grip Round 1 : vs Mr Rizal with U/R/B FishGame 1 - I lose the dice roll ( 13:15) and he leads with 1st turn Grim Lavamancer. .pass, and then I start my turn with 1st turn Dark Confidant with my only mox and only land with hope that I will draw more to find another mana base before his Lavamancer become active. .But in fact he waste my Scrubland, drop Mox Ruby and Bolt my Bob. .His next turn is eating my mox with Gorilla Shaman and beat me down till I lose. . Game 2 - Play first, mulligan to 6 and have a fetch land search for Bayou and Black Lotus to have me cast Toughtseize -> discard his mancer -> drop a 3/4 Goyf. .at his turn he did nothing except drop a land and at my next turn I drop Bazaar -> draw 2 and pitch Balance, Vampiric Tutor, and Zombie Infestation -> Drop confidant. .he has no answer to 6/7 Goyf and it's an easy victory. . Game 3 - He drop a fetch, drop Mog Fanatic, enter my turn, Duress his FoW away and win tha game with 2 4/5 Goyfs. . [1-0] Round 2 : vs Randy with Platinum and / or Tyrant OathGame 1 - I lose the dice roll ( 13:15) and he has no oath but find a way to hard cast Platinum Angel (using Black Lotus) right after he Force my Thoughtseize. .then I Sword his Platinum, be countered by Pact of Negation, then I Sword it again (double kill!!), and he unable to pay that pact so he lose the game. . Game 2 - He has 1st turn Oath + Orchard, revealing Tyrant (what the??). .enter my turn. .nothing's important. .and he grab me with Triskelavus - Tyrant combo at his next turn. . Game 3 - Ray of Revelation really shines here. .and Goyf bring his into the death and give me my 2nd win for this day. . [2-0] Round 3 : vs Paulus with U/B/W FishGame 1 - I lose the dice roll ( 13:15 again???????). .and he starts with early confidant but I have a very wonderful hand. .1st turn drop Scrubland -> drop Black Lotus and get 3 mana to resolve mirror Confidant -> Toughtseize -> remove Jotun Grunt -> and then Sword his Bob. . He drop Kataki and pass. .I reveal Mox Emerald -> draw Squee -> Drop Bazaar -> and then beat him since I win in creatures quantity. . Game 2 - Loam and Wasteland are really shine here. .delay him until I have 3 4/5 Goyfs beat him. .thanks God his Jitte and Leyaline didn't appear tough I prepare enough Oxidize and Ray to prevent it. . [3-0] Round 4 : vs Mr Gani with Tyrant OathGame 1 - I lose the dice roll ( 13:19 4th appearance of 13. .owh no. .). .1st turn oath -> no answer -> active and nothing to be told. . Game 2 - I keep my hand with 2 Ray but has no creatures in my hand, destroy 2 of his Oath but still has no creatures, playing Bazaar, draw for 2 and my 1st creature is Squee so I discard it away. .too bad it gets extirpated. .and then he has enough mana to cast Tyrant and Triskelavus to beat me down. . [3-1] After this tourney I just realize that all I faced today is just Oath and Oath. .Fish and Fish. .and perfect lose to dice rolls. . Thanks for this thread and any advices to improve my skill using this deck. .too bad I have nothing to do with Zombie Infestation and Gaddock Teeg is always being Forced. . *this performance, result, and report are dedicated to my friend's younger brother who passed away 8 days ago. . (I choose to play this deck simply because I was unable to bring my own cards which laid in his house. .so I borrowed cards from many people, built this deck, and find a fine result. .may his soul and spirit rest in peace. .)

Hi Everyone Can someone explain me, for what reason you added Eon Hub ( http://magiccards.info/5dn/en/120.html) to the sideboard. I see, that Mana Crypt and Mana Vault takes an Advantage, but give away four sideboard places and 5 colorless mana just to get two and tree mana from the vault/crypt and the Smokestack and Tanglewire plan will be punished completly?!? Or is it for mirror games to sneak under opponents Smokestack and Tanglewire plan and overrun him with aggro-presure? thanks and greets from Switzerland, -sushicutta Most likely just to combat Energy flux, kataki and Oath of druids... /Zeus Plus mirror. .cause I'll have more aggressive strategy when I face another deck which contain wire n stack. .
