1  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: Northeast Vintage Series, New York - N.Y.S.E. XX Weekend - 1/14-1/15 2012 on: December 02, 2011, 11:23:44 am
I guess that you have already think about this, but doing Legacy and Vintage in the same day is a good idea? Since both are Eternal formats some Vintage players would play Legacy, and the other way around, than people from standard playing any of those formats. At least in Spain is this way...
Anyway I think taht is a good idea and a great iniciative, but as for the invitational I will have put so that if some one goes to all the events is going to the invitational too, if it doesn't perform well it can be out, but is another way to thank people from going to all the events, just a thought
2  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: N.Y.S.E. XIII - Official Report on: March 03, 2011, 10:50:52 am
Great tournament, and great to be back after so many months w/o playing, nice to see a lot of people around and meet new people form the city for more testing Smile. Thanks Nick for organizing this.

I have a great time with my deck (UBr jace control), and I go 3-3, reading perfectly the metagame for what I see, I expected mainly workshop and control decks, some Ichorid and a few fih like builts, so my side was well prepared agains the first 2 and something agiants ichord (allways...). First round goblins (I'm soooooo lucky with the pairings) and third round noble (so so lucky..) take off my chances, at least I know that it was a little of bad luck with the pairings, and a little of my wrist that is oxidized after so many months... good to learn from this Smile.

See you in a next one (I don't even know what off them...)
3  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: N.Y.S.E. XIII - 2/26 Mox Jet & Mox Pearl Tournament on: February 11, 2011, 04:22:31 pm
Is someone going from NYC and wants to split travel costs? I wouldn't mind renting a card, but I don't have here my Driving license for the moment.
It has been a wile since my last performance here, and I'm a little oxidized but I would like to attend this one!

Aritz,
Kellan and I are going from Brooklyn, if we get you and maybe one more person, renting a zipcar, we can split the cost ($100), will  just be a little more expensive than the train and infinitely less hassle
Hi Joshua,
This sound good for me, I don't mine paying a little more If we go faster and less complicatted, but Nicks option of picikng up us will be good too if we were few people, I don't know if Yare is coming from Manhattan, and if it if see will like to come with us, so we will be 4 for spliting the car cost. The only matter with me is that maybe till thursday or friday (less likely) I wouldn't know if I can make it, since depends on my work. I will try to go this thursday to the Brooklyngamers draft and we can speak there (if I go I will take my vintage deck too Smile), if I don't go I will call you, or message with what happens to my life Smile.

In my expirience in the Basque Vintage Lige we see that giving too much point to the top 8 disturbs the rerala regularity of some players, because you can make top9 at 3 tournaments, and some one tyhat justa make top 8 at 2 and goes very bad in one can have the same or more points than the top 9 guy. I porpose you to don,t give so much point for going in the top8, only 1 point for being in, and extra point for passing to semi-finals, one more for going to the final, and maybe  2 more for winning, so it would be like this:
1st: +5
2nd: +3
3-4th: +2
5-8th: +1

Only one opinion, really, what we have was a real lige, and at the end of the an invitational torunamente so only the first 22 (and the all that have the same points as him, and all torunament champions too) of the regular ligue can go. This last tournamnet was free, we had 15 euros tournament fee, and from this 2 euros of each player gous for the final torunament prize and we have some prize to for the first 3 or 4 players in the regular leagu (it depends on assistance and in the budget that we had for the both prizes support).

The tournament report should be up by tomorrow night.  Sadly there are no pictures.  There were, however, foil Goatnappers, which more than make up for that though...

Yes, they are, I take no too much pictures but I have at least one of the top 8 when they were starting playing. Give me your e-mail and I can send you (I take more pictures of the snow Smile).

12  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The Return of The Deck! on: December 17, 2009, 12:34:26 pm
I think that in your list you lack the stirpmine.

Nah, look carefully.

Ok I see it with the moxes, sorry.

1) Misconception of Timetwister usage
2) Low level game experience
3) Poor test

I agree with you, I haven't use this card apart from TPS opr other combo buildings, and since in my meta in the last times they were a lot of combo decks, it doesn't seem a good include. I will try it, by I don't have much time for a good testing, and your reasonings seems good, and sureley you will have more testing than me.
13  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The Return of The Deck! on: December 17, 2009, 09:54:19 am
I think that in your list you lack the stirpmine. And timetwsiter is another card that I'm not sure of including in this building, since one of your strategies is to reduce the table resources of your oponent, and refilling his hands is not a good way to go, is only for a desperate moments, and I rather prefer to reinforce your strategy than doin it, ok you can win with regrowth/fire-ice/time walk/timetwister.

Thanks

Hello, I'm an going to new york for working and I'll be there for arround 2 years and I'll like to know if is there or near it some places or peoplo to play eternal, both vintage and legacy. If not, if you know a shop that organizes pre-realeses or other stuff (I'm not very fan of standard or extended but if is nothing more...).

Thanks
22  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Optimal GAT builds on: February 10, 2008, 12:16:08 pm
ANother option of second win condition is tendrils of agony, very useful, and it introduce a non-creature based win condition.

I htink that it doesn't need mana drains, now including ponder is very hard to left to blue mana available, is better introduce 2 tgz and 2 misdirection. (apart from 4 fow and 4 duress).

I prefer not to include not cunnning neither berserk. IS enought our control and creature kill, and introducing tendrils meandeck more clear.

The side will depend on pur colour configuration. Really inlcuding red we have moreresources against MUD/stax variants, but on the othjr hand we have a weaker mana base. 3 colours build can inlcude  tarmogoyf, energy flux, hurkyls and oxidice, with red we gain ancient grudge, ingot chewer and maybe rack and ruin, and for control matchups REB an pyro).

26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: [Card Discussion] Gaddock Teeg -- The new vintage metagame warper on: September 11, 2007, 07:15:06 am
I think that if beeing played, this card will be in UWg deck, I'm not sure taht tarmogoyf will have place but 4 of this creature with 4 meddling mage and 3 aven mincensor will have a good creature hate for vintage, maybe 3 tarmogoyfs can help putting a bettertime-lock, we can use to jotun and katakis. The worst is that fows will be include but after gaddock sumoning will not be used. And not having black lacks duress that is another disruptiong spell very useful in the new meta. (and bobs obviusly for card advantage).
27  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: 5C Baghdad Bob (working title: Lava Owls) on: August 30, 2007, 05:28:00 am
Just as a sidenote:

Pyroblast is always superior to REB, because BOTH can be misdirected! I know that Pyroblast can target everything, but Misdirection is blue and therefore REB can be misdirected on the Misdirection itself. The arguments for Pyroblast are that it can provide Threshold, cards for Lavamancer/Grunt, Storm and in addtional you can play it before you get slavered.

If you REB a blue permanent, It cannot be misdirected unless there is another blue permanent in play.

This is not true, you can misdirectiobn a REB targeting missdirection, is not a permanent but is a blue spell and is legal target for REB
28  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Deck help for a vintage newbie on: August 09, 2007, 06:53:59 am
Loocking to your list it seems very close to a TPS, and  I think that is better going for a list close to this one. For a 2 colours deck as you say the 5 color land aren't necessary so I will change them for 1flooded stran 2 islan and 1 swamp (wastelands...).
The fact or fiction they have told you that is not so good inlcuison better gifts or intuition ( Iprefer gifts, is card advantage). I will cut to the MD colossus and let to de side, or better a platinum angel. And MD rebuil and chain are necessary too, I don't agree with EinialisLiadon about echoining truth, you have to look for combo friends and chains alow you to do a big storm returning to yor hand your moxes). I will cut too de mox diamond (only useful with bargain active, when you can have more than 2 land cards in hand) and the mana vault that i have let playing a time ago, including 2 cabal rituals (for the gift pile: dark ritual, cabal ritual, black lotus and lotus petal is great Smile).
The disruptiong is a nother matter, i think that 10 disruption card is a lot and 6 pitch counters too, so I'll reduce it to 4 duress and 4 Fow.
29  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Full Mind Twist on: July 19, 2007, 10:53:30 am
I have only test in a few matches agaist combo and MUD, and your better win condition is the tinker platinum or hard casted platinum (is very easy to play 7 manas for platinum). agaist not fish decks if you play dimir you will win too very easy, and I think that fish will be the worst match. If you control the mach and cast a confidant with the platinum will be enough for winning and the overdraw of confidant  (they normally don't play flying creatures, now there are the avens but you are supposed to be controlling and they will be countered, if they are in play you have the bouncers). Now a days there are not to much wipe away so this platinum will be our first win condition. I was thinking about including tendrils, but you will need too a dark ritual for asure the 2 black mana. i think that this controlling dek is better focused to only one win plan (or 2 if we can go on with dimirs).
30  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Full Mind Twist on: July 19, 2007, 09:59:30 am
Hi to all, I'm new in this forum, I have read it a litle before but because I'm not so confortable with my english I hadn't write first. I will try it first time Smile.
I have just this weck strat testing a timetwist based deck after seening DukeLio's list in elsantuario (an spanish Vintage forum) and wette's results in UAL P9 at madrid. And I like this list most of them for the control play and the use of manadrain and the Confidants. My meta is know very rich but usually there are 5-6 MWS decks, some TPS combo decks, fish variants, bomberman,Tyrant oath and 1-2 angel oath and 3 Ichorid (25-35 players tournament) and this saturday I spect 3-4 flash hulk or rector decks. Because the MWS decks I am thinking that 2 colour mana base could be better, we lose some good cards like EtW and rack and ruin side, but we win a more stable mana base. this is the list I have build:

Mana Sources 24

2 Swamp
3Island
3 Polluted Delta
2 Flooded strand
3 Underground Sea
1Tolarian academy
1 Library Of Alexandria
9 Solopemoxencrypt

Creatures 7
4 Dark confidant
2 Dimir Cutpurse
1 Platinum Angel

Disruption 15
4Force of Will
4 Manadrain
4 Duress
3 Mind Twist

Draw, bussines and answers 14
4 Brainstorm
1 Ancestrall Recall
1Time walk
2 Repeal
1 Rebuil
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Tinker

Sideboard (not tested)
4 Leyline of the Void
2-3 Extirpate
2-3 Nix/disrupt/SpellSnare
2 Energy Flux
1 Hurkyl's Recall
2 Trickbind
2-3 Black Knight (wettes tech against Fish Smile)

Somethings I am nt totatally sure of including are the dimir, they are great after a twist , and are pitchable for force, but sometimes I think taht It will be better 2 more disruption or bounce cards (maybe Echoining Truth or the third repeal. I have think about the 2 Merchant Scroll inclusion, but not sure) other black spells like skeletal scriing are not totally possible because of Force of will pitching. I have only 2 days testing time and I will like earing ideas about it.

Other part is the side. 2 more disruptiong cards for Combo and control much up, 4 leyline for flash and Ichorid, the 2 extirpate (i was thinking about  driving they main for their sinergy with duress and twsit but I think that there is no more place for black cards). the trickbind I'm not so sure that is totally neccesary, we are armed agaisnt combo main very hard. And for MWS decks 2 flux and a hurkyl or a rebuid (not sure becouse of chalice of 2). The Black knight I think that is great tech against fish(UW) because massacre dont run very well with confidants. I will like some deas too about this Side.

So thanks for your answers, and sorry for my bad english Smile
