1  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: 9/5/2009 Vintage in Binghamton New York! on: September 04, 2009, 07:29:47 am
I will not be able to attend this event because of a wedding. I have been to many of the Vestal legacy events and everytime gets better. The prize support is extremely well and worth the trip up
2  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: ICBM Xtreme Open #2 tentative setup on: August 31, 2009, 09:00:40 am
What state is this in? And prize support is very nice. Might have to go the distance
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Thoughtseize v.s. Duress on: June 18, 2009, 06:07:04 am
I play three Thoughseizes and two Duress in any deck I ever build, you need this disruption if you play black. I believe thoughtseize is better on so many levels now because of welders and fish decks running around to take a creature is sometimes the better play, and with brainstorm out of the picture its even better now. Thats what I play in my decks, just a thought

5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Fish decks on the rise? on: March 26, 2009, 10:20:40 am
I believe U/W with the splash of green makes the best choice for any fish player. Anyone else feel the same or do you think BUG is better.
6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Fish decks on the rise? on: March 17, 2009, 01:23:11 pm
Am I the only one who thinks this to be true. I have been noticing alot of change in the format. Seeing fish become more popular these days and Tezz ruling the Metagame. TPS still doing damage and utter brokenness. So anyone else think fish decks are on the rise or just more people are playing vintage on a budget?
7  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Why you play vintage? on: February 03, 2009, 09:26:28 am
I guess on retrospect it would mostly be the pure brokenness of the format.  It leads to a ton of fun in games, even in the long ones.  That and I got sick of trying to stay on the Standard treadmill.

If I were to be putting the money I am saving by not playing Standard into a bank account specifically for power and duals I should be able to have a full set of each in just under two years.  That to me says I was spending way too much time, money, and energy on a format that is very fleeting at best.
I totally agree with you about standard, I'm just at the point where I have been playing for so long that I can play both. Since were allowed 10 proxies I can practically build anything with a set of duals, fetches, and FOW's.
8  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Re: Noble Fish: GUW variants here! on: February 03, 2009, 08:35:46 am
I am currently working on this same deck but with Oath as a SB plan to handle heavy aggro decks.
9  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Why you play vintage? on: February 03, 2009, 08:34:42 am
So this morning I woke up and asked myself why do I play Vintage. I was wondering if it is the use of the old cards, the pure brokenness of the format, or just it simply appeals to me the most. I later realized it is the pure brokenness of the format and how a turn can last 20 mins and still not be board of playing. So I am here to ask all of you, why do you play vintage?
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: U/W fish on: January 15, 2009, 08:39:05 am
I was planning on useing Sower of Temptation or Control Magic in the board, what do you think of that as an idea?
11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Tezz Oath on: January 15, 2009, 08:35:00 am
I was wondering if anyone has a Tezz Oath list floating around, because I am very interested in building it as one of my vintage decks. If anyone could provide me a list and advice on the deck that would be great.

15  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Philadelphia Results and Top 8 Decklists (finally!) on: November 08, 2008, 08:33:04 am
Was a great tourny and turnout, I hope Nick you have another one in Phili.
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: you did that ....................really? on: November 04, 2008, 07:29:14 am
I was playing against an Oath/ Tezz deck which took me by suprise and he brings up a timevault and passes the turn. I didnt swing the tezz, and ended up losing the game because of that. I was so pissed.
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Meddling Mage on: October 29, 2008, 06:46:48 am
What cards do you name against the current metagame with Meddling Mage? I was just curious what people would say against TPS, Tez, Painters, Stax, etc. So if you would please share your advice or experience's with Meddling Mage.
18  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Kataki or Cannonist on: October 17, 2008, 02:10:21 pm
Well looking at the current decks, the metagame is really there for me, I just don't know if I'll run into more combo or Tezz control/ Workshop decks. I guess it is really personal preference.
19  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Kataki or Cannonist on: October 17, 2008, 12:54:45 pm
The Metagame is unkown so I really don't understand what to play.
20  Eternal Formats / Creative / Kataki or Cannonist on: October 17, 2008, 12:02:07 pm
Which one should be maindecked in U/W Fish Kataki or Cannonist? I feel the Cannonist makes you have more control of the game but tougher decisions to make when playing. Kataki makes you pay one for your null rod every turn but if you play kataki there going to sac there moxes anyway since u have null rod out. So which one is truly better?
21  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [2nd place report] Uw Artifact Agro @ ELDs on: October 10, 2008, 09:39:54 am
How was the counterbalance and top combo working for you? Did it become really useful in most of the situations you were in.
22  Eternal Formats / Creative / Spell Snare? on: October 09, 2008, 12:13:06 pm
Does anyone think spell snare needs to be maindecked in the current metagame? I mean with all the great two drops out anymore being played such as Oath, Bob, Grunt, Goyf,Jitte, Piledraver, etc. Is it really a card to be played in the maindeck or sideboard. Honestly I have no idea if I should even run it as maindecked. I see it being played in Tezzeret control, I was wondering if it has a place in U/W fish maindecked. Please tell me what you think.

Hello, and welcome to The Mana Drain!  While we appreciate newer users posting their decks and looking for feedback, we do ask that new threads contain more content than just a decklist, to provide a better jumping-off point for the discussion.  For example, you might explain why you chose particular cards, or if there are specific matchups you want the deck to do better in.  Please take a moment to review the site rules to avoid this issue going forward.  We look forward to your future contributions.  -DA
