We went from dated, but clean and easy to read, to somewhat hard on the eyes, edge-to-edge-browser-stretching-no-padding shenanigans. What happened?

There are obviously people that are better equipped to answer than I am, but I do know that someone briefly tested this layout yesterday. I saw this exact layout yesterday, and when I refreshed the page it was back to normal.
EDIT: It seems to SCG-implemented.

This is not an intentional change, by TMD staff or SCG staff, the linking to our theme files is broken, causing it to default to .... this, apparently. I'm trying to fix it on our end but there doesn't appear to be much I can do without SCG. We might be stuck with this for a bit. Hang tight.
Edit: I have contacted SCG with all the necessary technical information

I've used this (not the exact TMD, but the same code) forum script. I think what's happened is there's been a source code update that's made the TMD theme unusable. Likely what will happen is the site will get a new look.

Fairly sure that this is basically the default theme for SMForums.
It is probably that you have an older template and it wont import the theme as it may be stamped with old meta data for a previous version, or it may be missing elements for compatibility.
The forum should be relatively easy to skin though, as its probably just a CSS file upload through the admin and some images.

As I said in the IRC channel, I really like the new theme / layout and I like the big links up the top for Unread posts since last visit and replies to your posts.

Like I said, this is not an intentional change. There is no new software, there are no new themes installed, no changes of any sort have been made on the TMD end. This is what SMF looks like when linkage to the theme files is broken. No one on TMD staff has the ability or authority to access the SCG server. Until we hear back from people with that ability and authority, we're stuck with this theme. Fortunately it appears that theme-swapping hasn't had a dramatically adverse an effect on the site.
