I've been playing this dude as a 2 of along with 3 jace, 4 big tezz, and 2 grim monoliths. It's been pretty hot.

This is the first planeswalker that I think actually does need to be considered using his ultimate.  The more I think about it, the more I am concluding that this guy is all about ramping himself up to do some serious Time Walking, and from there, likely recharging and helping you take all the turns afterwards.  My frustration with him is that he doesn't really lend himself to getting to his ultimate on his own.

His + ability would be amazing if it was like Ajani Vengant.  As is, it doesn't really help protect him at all.  Still, it is like two abilities in one (like Lily 3.0).  You're either punching through with your Goyf or you're untapping your Grim Monolith.  Both seem like good things to do, but they don't help you stall while he ramps up.

His protection ability is bolt, which is fine, but sets him back from his ultimate. 

I'm still not sold on this duder taking a slot from Jace or Tezz.  If you're just out to play all the Planeswalkers for the lols, well, then sure.  But when are you gonna slot out one of the tried-and-true for him?

Have you just been thinking about it, or actually playing with it? I haven't had a win yet that's involved ultimating him in various shells. I've definitely had wins that we're because of the walker though, mostly time vault interaction and using ral to ramp into tezz. Just being able to untap Tolarian is also pretty insane when you've got it. The tapping part is mostly useless. I've only gotten value off tapping lotus, mana vault, or another grim a few times.

Has anyone played around with this in a RUG delver type of shell? That seems the place for it.

Its one of the shells I've messed with, it's basically 6 dmg in most match ups.

As a RUG Delver player, this card doesn't excite me very much.  I could see it being good in the deck if your meta is creature-heavy, though.

To improve the Stax issue, use his +1 and use Mana Vault and Grim Monolith with him.  He gets to untap those for free. Also helps play your spells through Sphere effects.
