I don't know if we have any fans, but Toonami is airing one of the greatest animation films of all time December 7th at Midnight.

You can't ask a fish not to swim!
You can't ask a Chinese guy not to turn back into a tiger at midnight!

OOH!  Which version?  I prefer to hear Kaneda voiced by Leonardo the ninja turtle over the updated voiceover.  I do understand that the second version has better translations, though.

Aaaand, it's the non-nostalgic version. The story is still wonderfully compelling, but it lacks something. -- like a really good cover band nailing a song.

I've only ever watched Akira subbed but man, even with the dub, you can't keep a great movie down.  It's a classic for a reason.

Yeah, it was a rough weekend for Clevelanders... Akira wasn't the original released version, Ohio State lost, and the Browns lost vs New England. However, a few Team Serious'ers and I still powered through it at one of the local bars yelling Tetsuo or Kaneda the entire time.

Still an amazing piece of film and I cannot wait to receive the Manga's for Christmas to read

Hopefully next weekend is better since there's a Team Serious Open running on the 15th.

I've got that shit kicking around on VHS somewhere.  I've always meant to get it ripped to a DVD or some such.
