I'm sure most of us agree that Star Wars' Soundtrack is one that we all have burned in our brains as Iconic and Awesome as movie soundtracks.
But I like Basil Poledoris' soundtrack to Conan The Barbarian above all others.
What are your favorite movie sountracks?
(I know some films use songs as their soundtracks (Tarantino, Scorsese, etc)
Just a fun thread, discuss!

The newer Tron movie soundtrack is glorious in my opinion, I don't know if others may agree.

Excalibur was good. Conan is the best imo. Ravenous has a really great soundtrack and I play it as often as the Conan one. I really liked the Two Steps From Hell preview music for the Star Trek reboot and have those. Dune soundtrack has a few good songs by Toto (They did fantasy genre rock music asides Africa and Rosanna fare...)

The score to The Virgin Suicides by Air is truly incredible album. I can't say enough about it.
As for more traditional soundtracks, I like The Crow, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, O Brother Where Art Thou, and any Quentin Tarantino movie.

Nevertheless, I prefer Per qualche dollaro in più main theme. Morricone is a master, and that trilogy his masterpiece.

I don't know about all-time, but I've been listening to more scores in the past few years. Some of my favorites:
Obviously what Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have done for David Fincher has been great: The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo were both great scores.
Cliff Martinez has done excellent work for Nicholas Winding Refn with the Drive and Only God Forgives soundtracks.
Mica Levi's score for Under the Skin is marvelously haunting and unsettling, and a perfect complement for an excellent film.
There's probably one or two I've really enjoyed that I'm forgetting, but those are the big ones.

The Fight Club soundtrack is criminally under rated.
It's the Dust Brothers at their creative peak. It's a unique style that is given the opportunity here to really do it's own thing.

Dazed and confused
This and Repo Man are two of the most famous soundtracks in movie history. Although one soundtrack might beat them for the 'best' title. I hear the songs from A Hard Day's Night are pretty popular.

This is my favorite song from it http://youtu.be/1-rHdSWZLpQBy far one of Morricone's best pieces. I love the song, and all of his work. For me personally, if I had to name a film it would be "Once upon a time in the west". This film has near to zero dialog, and is carried almost exclusively by the actors' mimic art and the music. It is a true thing of beauty. Apart from that, I love compilation soundtracks (like what Tarantino does in his films) if they use very recognizable themes and in general themes that are woven into each other. Avery good soundtracks that does just that is the one from "Gladiator".
