20 people showed up, and the owner was kind enough to add two revised dual lands to the prizes.  There was a top four split, MUD, Fish, Oath, Bob Tendrils w/ Gush.  Oath and The Deck came in fifth and sixth and picked up a Force of Will each.

The meta was:

2 GAT
1 Jace Control
3 Dredge
4 Elephant Oath
1 Sun Titan Oath
1 Noble Fish
1 5C stax
2 MUD
1 Blue Workshops
1 Bob Tendrils + Gush
1 Storm Combo
1 The Deck
1 Charbelcher combo

Top 8 was:
The Deck vs. Bob Tendrils (W)
MUD (W) vs Jace Control
Noble Fish (W) vs Eleph. Oath
Eleph. Oath (W) vs Eleph. Oath

I don't agree that die rolls decide the game; deck choice, card choice, mulligans, sideboarding, and play decisions are all more important given that over time you will be on the draw in 50% of your game 1s. Of course MUD/Stax would always prefer to be on the play in game 1 but it doesn't always work out that way : ) What was the motivation to play blue stax? Can you post your decklist?

My god this format is degenerate (old news, but it bears repeating). Nevertheless, I had a great time despite getting eviscerated in top 8. Many thanks to Shuffle & Cut for hosting this tournament. Looking forward to the next one.

Edit: Concerning the above post, I played Jace Control without Gush.

Imagine you're on the play and Thoughtseize your opponent reveals:
Workshop, ATomb, Tinker, Seat of the Synod, Steel Hellkite, Wasteland, Land

Which card would you take?

Tinker.  Wink

7th place with Elephant Oath...Epic misplay on the Quarterfinals.

I think MTG is going to be less of a priority in my life from now on, don't seem to have fun playing it competitively anymore.

You could always play semi-viable/viable joke decks. That's what I always found fun about Vintage.
