Blue Bell Game Day #16!

    Saturday, June 18th, 2011
    Alternate Universes
    1530 DeKalb Pike
    Blue Bell, PA 19422

   Vintage Event

        Registration: 11:00 AM (Starts @ 12:00 Noon)
        Entry Fee: $30.
        Format: Vintage
K-Value: Unsanctioned, 10 proxies allowed for free. You can purchase up to five more proxies at $1 each.
        REL: Competitive (like a PTQ)
Decklists will be required (and published).

The Prizes: (these prizes are based on +/- 45 players)
        1st Place: Beta Mox Jet
        2nd Place: UL Mox Emerald
        3rd + 4th Place: $120 in store credit
5th-8th Place: $60 in store credit

2011 Player of the Year Race:
The Vintage event will count towards the Blue Bell Game Day Player of the Year 2011.  The Player of the Year plays for free at all of the Blue Bell Game Days the following calendar year!  Players can earn points throughout the year by playing vintage, each match win is worth 3 points, each draw is worth 1 point, and each loss is worth 0 points (just like the swiss points system used in tournaments). Players in the Top 8 will be awarded bonus points based on their finish, as follows:

        1st place: 12 points
        2nd place: 9 points
        3rd + 4th place: 6 points
        5th - 8th place: 3 points

Side Events:

        Single-Elimination 8-Mans!

Start Time: As soon as 8 players sign up.
        Entry Fee: $10
        Format: Vintage
        K-Value: Unsanctioned, 15 proxies

        Prizes:
        1st Place: $60 in credit
        2nd Place: $20 in credit

Prize: dependent on how many players (100% of the entry fees will be given out as "Nick Coss bucks" aka table credit)

The Blue Bell Player of the Year contest has nothing to do with Wizards of the Coast Player of the Year contest.  Do not confuse the two.  This one is for participants in unsanctioned Vintage tournaments held at Alternate Universes in Blue Bell, PA.

Well, as of now, the only piece of Power that I own that hasn't been earmarked for a prize already is an UL Lotus.  I'm working out the details, but in the next week or so expect some clarification.

Hey guys, a quick update.  I picked up some more Moxen yesterday, so the Lotus is going to be saved for the GRUDGE MATCH III, coming to Philly this summer.

See you all in June (and in the summer!)

Can we get a date on this ASAP.  I need several weeks notice to request off from work and I know that I am not the only one who needs as much notice as possible.

planning to come from Queens.  Have room for 1-2 people in my car. Usual splitting of gas and tolls expected. Let me know if you plan on going and are in need of a ride.

Maybe you should put "Beta Mox Jet" in the subject line, because that's a much more appealing prize than we usually think of when you see "2 pieces of power"

From what I've been hearing there's a lot of interest in this one.  It's going to be a good time.

SOUND OFF!  Another extra special prize has been added to the prize pool tomorrow for someone TOTALLY RANDOM.  Hint: It cures AIDS.

who won?  I predict it was Allen Fulmer because he beat me in the Top 4, and we all know the rule that whoever takes me out wins the tournament (although interestingly his opponent, Shawn Anthony dealt me a loss in the Swiss.  Tough call!)  Allen was up one game when I left.

Shawn ended up winning it. I got game one like you mentioned and game 2 I had turn 1 fastbond, double Thoughtseize but it wasn't enough. Game 3, I resolve recall with reb backup, a turn or 2 later Shawn goes for recall I reb, he forces, I force.  He has 3 cards in hand and goes fetch, fastbond, gush. Gushes into another gush, and another and jace and I get blown out. So unfortunately I did not get there after taking you down Paul, haha.

Yeah it feels good.  I had a tough top 8 against Folinus, Griffiths, and Fulmer (who was playing the exact same deck!).  My toughest games all day was definitely the Shawn mirror match in top 4.  Paul, do you remember my mistake exactly?  I thought it was keeping my Lotus Petal and just tapping my land so I could Tinker Key-Vault?
