Pre-order this sucker before it explodes. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/td/211Abrupt Decay BG Instant Abrupt Decay can't be countered by spells or abilities. Destroy target non-land permanent with a converted mana cost of 3 or less. In Vintage, this is a clearly playable, but really just an addition to the removal toolbox. In Legacy, Modern, and Standard, it is the stone cold nuts and it's gonna explode in price very quickly this pre-order season. Good card is good!

Yeah, it doesn't quite hit Lodestone or Jace. But, it's very solid and it will be very popular in all formats.

We can't prepare BG for abrupt decay with some effort, but targetting only cmc≤3 is just a sorrow. It can't break Golem,Smokestack,or Jace...the cards defines how vintage is.
Wait,I didn't read the text that this card is uncounterable. How great.

Not that this card is a concern for shops, but it gets hosed by chalice at 2.
Seems like a nice fit for this thing:
April NEV Series @ TDG - April 15, 2012 2nd – Ryan Glackin Jund!
4 Dark Confidant 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Diabolic Edict 4 Hymn to Tourach 4 Liliana of the Veil 2 Thoughtseize 1 Vampiric Tutor 3 Ancient Grudge 3 Lightning Bolt 2 Scavenging Ooze 2 Sylvan Library 2 Tarmogoyf 4 Bloodbraid Elf 1 Jund Charm 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Jet 2 Nihil Spellbomb 1 Sol Ring 2 Badlands 3 Bayou 3 Bloodstained Mire 1 Forest 1 Mountain 1 Swamp 1 Taiga 1 Treetop Village 3 Verdant Catacombs 3 Wooded Foothills
SB:

The whole "can't be countered" clause would like to have a word with you. Preordered my set of 4. They started at 10 on SCG, are up to 12, and are 15s on eBay. Modern Jund will love this, standard will eat this up. The fact that it kills spheres, bobs, time vault is just gravy for me. Not sure about vintage applications, but definitely great in every other format. I want to try this in the Legacy BUG shell with shardless agent that DeMars wrote about earlier.

Whoops, I guess I forgot that a chalice trigger is a "triggered ability?" Am I missing something?
Also, my reasoning is always curious -- never listen to me.

Good call, Bill. I like this for my Jund deck a lot. It kills Time Vault in an uncounterable way. It murders everyone in Noble Fish. A lot of Jund is vulnerable to Chalice at Two. And this card kills Chalice on any number kill a professional. And while Counterbalance is not a card in Vintage, this is an ideal answer.

Counterbalance is going to be a big reason for the price of this thing, as well as modern jund. I kind of want to try it in a bug/shardless agent shell. I think this card will see play, but it may take time (like misstep). It answers delver, bob, time vault, chalice, spheres, goyf, goblin welder, 90% of the cards in fish, clique, null rod, stony silence, oath of druids, and tons of others. Might dredge one day play this as well? Instant speed uncounterable removal for any problem that they have? Rainbow lands are rainbow, after all, and Leyline has been falling by the wayside.

This card does seem quite powerful, but only in formats other than Vintage -- the fact that it does little that's relevant vs shops and dredge, and only somewhat inconveniences big blue (kills utility creatures and Time Vault), relegates it to fringe playability. Current removal options like Lightning Bolt and Nature's Claim are arguably narrower in their effects, but useful against a broader range of opponents.
It's interesting though that RtR seems to have an uncounterability theme going on... can't wait for the rest of the spoilers.

There is a cycle of uncounterable rares for each guild.

Oh, if it only said 4 or less and wasn't ... I agree the 2 off colors in its mana cost and that it doesn't kill Jace or Lodestone restricts the play ability of this in vintage tremendously. Against shops this kills a sphere, chalice, revoker, or tanglewire. Against fish this kills everything. Against blue this kills time vault, and bob. Against oath it destroys oath. Does relatively nothing against dredge. Does nothing against landstill. If these are the only targets your worried about you could potentially play it, but in a vacuum there are a better options.
