I have been trying to keep up with the t1 metagame, and was honestly quite lost for a while (9 months of Marine Corps training will do that I spose) and after coming back and having a talk/few matches with Smemmen and his multitude of decks, I got a good grasp of the Tier 1 decks in t1.
Obviously, especially after Mirrodin, pre any restrictions, Stacks/Mud is a current powerhouse, then of course there is ToG/Gro-Atog, and now Long's Desire, which is just as, if not more so, beautiful as Academy. Lion's Eye Diamond is beautiful, they restrict it and all "I make more mana than what I cost" cards will be restricted, except for Tinder Wall (I'm just waiting for someone to break it). Anyways, I regress, the reason I am making this article is to state that with Combo/Prison being the main competetive decks, that Mon-Black could easily be a very competitive deck in todays format. Along with new cards in Mirrodin, mainly Chalice and Damping Matrix, it could even handle Keeper and Tog quite well. And if the Crucible of the Worlds card is made as is, it may even cut a spot in, making Mono-Black have at least one disruption card every turn against 70% of the decks out there.
Anyways, here is the current decklist, and testing has shown it does quite well in the current metagame. It does have trouble with MaskNought, and sligh obv. Against the rest though, well, I need more testing before I can come up with %, anyone who would like to do this for me is welcome. And without a further ado, the decklist:
Mono-Black v1.43
Search/Draw(4) 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Demonic Consultation 1 Necropotence
Creatures/Kill(12) 4 Phyrexian Negator 4 Nantuku Shade 4 Hypnotic Spector
Disruption(24) 4 Duress 4 Hymn to Tourach 3 Chalice of the Void 3 Null Rod 4 Wasteland 1 Strip Mine 4 Sinkhole 1 Yawgmoth's Will
Mana(20) 4 Dark Ritual 1 Mox Jet 1 Black Lotus 4 Bloodstained Mire 10 swamp
SideBoard (15) 1 Chalice 1 Null Rod 4 Cabal Therapy 4 Sarcomancy 3 Diabolic Edict 2 Dampning Matrix
Thx for the comments, boo on the rest
