Quote (Lord of the Goats @ Nov. 23 2003,15:39)as far as i can account for:
me- sick w/ fever
nick(ursa's child)- played like shit
roche(mikeR)- played well, but not perfectly
bryce (klown)- no clue
i can also account for 3-4 other people who were either unfamiliar with the deck or unprepared for chalice.
i finished in top 16 (13th i think) and roche got like 18th or so.
basically, a lot of people picked long up without being able to play it perfectly.... unlike a lot of decks there's just no room for error at all. that's fine in a 4-5 roound tourney because you can give up 1-2 losses and still top 8 pretty easily. this was a 7 round tourney
To clarify, my losses were to J. Orlove and Eastman. I mainly lost because I couldn't go off Turn 1 before the hate came down.
Against Eastman, he had a double Force, double Wasteland hand game one. I took game 2. Game 3 he got Chalice, Crypt, Fow + blue card, 2 Wastelands on me. My mana base being wrecked before I even take a turn is not conducive to winning.
Jacob pretty much summed it up as far as how I lost to him.
I stand by my assertion that a lot of the time, if you can't win on Turn 1 with Long, you're going to lose. In the games that I lost, I couldn't seem to get broken on people and even if I did, they were playing first and had the anti-brokenness to shut me down.
