Alright TMD, I need your assistance. My last high-back office chair broke several months ago, and now I finally have a new one. I need a name for her, though, and I thought you guys might have ideas. The previous chair was named Snuggles. I am neither for nor against a continued advertising-mascot-inspired naming theme.

Obviously 'Lieke' or 'Loes' or 'Annemiek'. For the non-Dutch audience, what do those mean? So far, most of the suggestions sound like male names. (Hyperion: Emily is straight out because I know too many real people with that name. :) ) The real dilemma is whether to go in more of a name-her-like-a-pet direction as opposed to naming her like a person. I'm inclined to the former, because I do have a limit to my anthropomorphizing. Thanks for all the suggestions, though!

Obviously 'Lieke' or 'Loes' or 'Annemiek'. While I know that those are girl's names, they sound very Ikea.

For the non-Dutch audience, what do those mean? They don't mean anything. They're just names I doubt they even have an English equivalent. You pronounce them, respectively, as 'Lee-kuh', ' Loose' and ' Annuh-Meek' This naming exersize is fun. I've yet to name a single piece of furniture myself, but I'll try and come up with something I can call Phil. Maybe my book cabinet? You could also name your chair Seneca. I know it's not a girl's name, but I've been trying to get people to name their rabbits Seneca for many years now, and never succeeded. Possibly it's time to broaden my horizon and include chairs.

It's Gaelic for chair. If any LOTR fans ask that you want to impress you can just say it's elven for chair.

Who names their chair? Why name what you break!? I can break you. How bout "The Helm"? Nerdy, but then again, you're naming your computer chair, so I don't know much of a way to get away from that.

Alright, in Latin class today we translated a couple of sentences by Seneca, which I took as the final sign that Chloe was going to come in second this time. Seneca it is. :)

You know, when I just got the e-mail notification for that thread, I had the feeling it was you and that you had come to that decision. This marks my third semi-psychic event on these boards in one week.
But more importantly, I'm actually truly glad that I was finally able to sell the name 'Seneca' to someone. It's a weird feeling realising you're happy because someone named their chair after a Roman philosopher.

I know that you may have already settled on Seneca as your chair name, but I've got a sweet idea for a better name. Call it...the Percolator. Why??? Because whenever you get home, and are about ready to sit down, you can say "It's time for the percolator, it's time for the percolator!" If you haven't ever heard the classic house track 'Coffee Pot' by Cajmere, then you won't get this.
