UPDATED

Entry Fee:  $10
Prize Structure:  1st place Mox Sapphire, all other prizes TBD (and likely MIA too, but I'll figure that out later)
10 Proxies, please make them legible from across the table.  Printed out proxies are fine as long as they're not stupidly thick.

I want to begin this tournament promptly at 12, but I know it won't happen.  Let me dream.  I'll start deck registration at 11.

Store Information:

The Collector's Corner
The Hadley Mall
367 Russell Street
Hadley, MA 01035
(413)582-0310

Let's hear a roll call!  As far as I know this is the first ten dollar tournament for a sapphire since 1999.  I bet we can make some noise for it.

I added a poll for possible prizes.  Here's the scenerio:  I will be doing ten dollar entry fees.  As such, I have a choice on my limited budget between prizes.

If I give away a twister, no matter what happens the entire t8 will walk away with something.  I will have a berserk or a drain or something of that area of value to give out for second and possible 3/4 if the attendance breaks 50.

Or, I can give away a sapphire, but with absolutely no other guaranteed prizes.  This would still be $10, which means in order to pay the store owner what I usually give him, to cover my tournament costs, and to cover the prize structure requires an attendance of over 40, which is far from guaranteed.

I would appreciate it if only people that could possibly make it here vote in this and please think about your decision carefully.  The difference between 2-8th place prizes will be about $200 between the two, so keep that in mind.

Much love.

Both seem like great ideas, the twister maybe marginally better.  Ben are you sure that this tourney is a go? If it is I will definitely call off work.  Also 10 proxies I presume?

I think sapphire is the play.

Of course, a little more notice would have been nice.

I usually organize these things based on request.

I've got a couple unofficial votes for the twister from kids who don't use TMD, which means the Twister is currently in the lead.  I'll be figuring out exactly how to handle this as soon as I talk to the store owner.

I plan on making this event with up to 3 persons in tow, I'm personally pushing for the sapphire over the twister.

So do I not count as a person in general, or is it specifically because I'm on meandeck? ;)

I'll be there, since Mike so graciously offered me a ride.

Correction, provided nobody changes plans it will be myself and 4 other people.

A meandecker, a shortbuser and 3 reflectionites in close quarters for 2 hours, this can only end in bloodshed.

I want to give massive thanks to a couple people.

Obviously thank you all for showing up, but extra special thanks to

Chris Tourloukas, Brass Man, Iamfishman, and Matrix for agreeing to split and saving me from being out like $50 on the prize support and saving everyone else a couple hours of playing
Travis LaPlante for paying twice to help me not go broke today.

We got 32 people for the sapphire, which obviously left me pretty low on cash, but even so I decided one prize wasn't enough, especially since Travis was kind enough to give a little more than he had to give.  So I dug in to my mox of stuff and gave out some door prizes, such as a Misdirection and a signed Cursed Scroll.  I love you guys.

Going back through my lists, I've concluded Fish did so well because there were only two Oath players, one of which was a Salvager oath and the other was budgetized.

And, just for ha-has, this is what Jacob Orlove attempted to register before I made him go back and make it for real.  To keep things clear, I put the real card names in parenthesis.

One Millionth Place (1-2 drop for type four):  Jacob Orlove, "Teh Decklist"
4 Counter (Mana Drain)
4 Counter (Force of Will)
4 Discard (Duress)
1 Discard (Mind Twist)
1 Cranial (Cranial Extraction)
1 Tutor (Demonic Tutor)
1 Tutor (Mystical Tutor)
4 Draw (Skeletal Scrying)
4 So Good (Brainstorm)
2 Win (Decree of Justice)
1 Man (Old Man of the Sea)
2 Cyborg (Cunning Wish)
1 EOT (Fact or Fiction)
1 Turn (Time Walk)
1 3 (Ancestral Recall)
2 W (Swords to Plowshares)
1 Real Win (Yawgmoth's Will)
1 Kowal (Balance)
4 Fetch (Polluted Delta)
2 Fetch (Flooded Strand)
1 Sumpf (Swamp)
2 Isle (Island)
3 U/W (Tundra)
3 U/B (Underground Sea)
8 Artifact (Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Mox Pearl, Sol Ring, Black Lotus, Lotus Petal)
1 Draw (Library of Alexandria)
SB:
1 Tutor (Vampiric Tutor)
1 W (Swords to Plowshares)
1 1W (Disenchant)
1 4U (Gush)
1 B (Coffin Purge)
3 Strip (Strip Mine, 2 Wasteland)
3 Meandeck.card (Phyrexian Furnace)
4 Anti-Combo (Chalice of the Void)

I won't be able to give away a sapphire next time, but I will be continuing Hadley mox tournaments again.  I'll be posting when the next tournament date is finalized.

I second that.  Five rounds was tech.  I know TO's 'n store owners want big crowds, but being able to play in a tourney and having time to go party on a saturday is clutch.

Actually, I made T8 'cause I'm savage, and Chris made T8 because he stole a game from Eastman.

I already had Fish made, and I figured I could just walk through a field of slaver and combo.  As it turned out, I played AFFINITY, MONO BLACK and ELVES in swiss, and my only two losses on the day ended up being to slaver.

It was great to see Matrix, and some of the old hadley guys tho.

Ben, how come you didn't post my real list?
