Well, it's going to be here soon, and I want to get a thread going of who's going and if carpooling is possible.
I'm not sure who all in Binghamton is going, but we should have a decent car load with possibly a space for one more.

Let me be the first one from Michigan to say I will be there.
Any of the usuals we should try to plan this thing way early, not like calling me the thursday before SCG virginia saying "hey you wanna go to virginia?"
JDizzle, where will you be?

JDizzle, where will you be?
I think I'll be back in Indiana, arriving a week early or so mostly just for Gencon. For the record, here's where I'll be for the next 3 months, so anyone looking for me can find me (I think these dates are right): Now until May 26, 2005: Indiana May 26, 2005 - June 2, 2005: back in Michigan June 2, 2005 - June 4, 2005: Various states between Michigan and Williamsburg, VA June 5, 2005 - July 30, 2005: Williamsburg, VA doing a summer REU at William and Mary August 1, 2005 - August 16 (or so), 2005 - Michigan August 16, 2005 (approx.) - first break in October - Indiana So, yeah, I'll be at Gencon. Anyone from the West who wants a place to crash for a night before Gencon is welcome to hit my place so you can save a night of hotel room. EDIT: Oh yeah, I won't be staying in my place during Gencon (so don't ask to stay here to save mad cash). I'll drive up the morning of on Thursday, but I'm definitely getting a hotel there. The hour drive each way is very annoying. I went to Gencon for 2 days last year and made the commute both times, and it was irritating then. Plus I can't afford to put that many miles on my car, since I'm already WAY over on miles (it's a lease).

Be warned, if you stay in justin's room, I will be there, and I am a necrophiliac. Its cool as long as you are not a dead body, or easily mistaken as such.

Does anyone have a room they could squish me in to? I might be flying up to Indy after a family (well, in the middle of ) vacation. I think I'd be able to meet up with whoever, whenever, and I'll obv chip in for room and stuff.

The airport is on the West side of Indy, and I'll be driving right by it when I go up there. I can probably pick you up at the airport, since I actually know where it is and how to get around Indy pretty well. PM me closer to Gencon details can be hammered out.

I had figured what I would do is fly into Indy, take the bus or a cab into the city itself and then go to the hotel where hopefully someone would leave a room key for me at the front desk. I'd rather paypal funds for the hotel -before- i'm actually there, otherwise i'll forget. :\ Although if the timing is right, I would greatly appreciate being picked up

I will always be going to GenCon, whether I play Magic or not. If I know you fairly well, and you are interested in driving with me from the NY area and hanging out with Ed Beard, drop me a line b/c I still have a space or two I think.

Good. We need to trade amazing cards. I've been working on stocking my binder to high hell esp. for Gencon, so I've definitely got some things you're going to like. This is a heads up for everyone else as well. I have high expectations for trading at Gencon, since Origins was mostly a let down in the trading department. Find me, and trade hot foils with me. It'll be lots of fun!

I don't think I can afford GenCon this year. You had best hope Samite Healer decides to unload some asian foil stock, or JACO shows up, because otherwise you're stuck with english.

But it looks like I WILL be going to GP Philly for the Legacy format Grand Prix, so anyone can catch me there if they want. But I warn you, it is difficult to trade with people who are already all Asian Foiled out.

I'd really like to go, but nobody's let me know what their concrete plans are yet (if they have any). I was thinking about filling a rental van with smelly (but preferably not) dorks but apparently there seems to be a lack of smelly dorks without rides who want to go to GenCon in the Binghamton area.

Yeah, so I'm not going to GenCon, but I found some interesting information on Wizards' official site about the 2005 Vintage World Championships. Some key points of (my) interest are: Swiss rounds, 60 minutes per round I'm not sure how long the rounds were last year, but if they were only 50 minutes before, it looks like Wizards' has recognized the fact that Vintage takes longer for turns to play out, and matches as a result. Also, all World Championship (non-Vintage) events are also 60 minutes, so this puts this Vintage event more on par with those other events. Also, the prizes are actually getting much better it seems: Winner receives 1 original piece of Magic: the Gathering artwork, plus 48 Magic: the Gathering boosters Second through Eighth Place each receive 48 Magic: the Gathering boosters, Ninth through Sixteenth Place each receive 36 Magic: the Gathering boosters, Seventeenth through Thirty-Second Place each receives 18 Magic: the Gathering boosters. All prize payouts will include Italian Legends That means they are paying out to top 32 with at least half a box of product, which is nice. Also, the original art 'redux' is going to be Ancestral Recall, which is really sweet.

It's on like donkey kong. Most likely, I'll bitch out, but Limoges will rep CO. As he says, "One hand on the rock, one hand on the cock." Gimme a call Thursday night, or just meet me up at the 500 dollar Legacy event. -Bob

Myself and BrassMan can't make it due to money concerns.
David is married. Shane is having a son.
There's no definitive proof that Marc and Josh aren't going, but I doubt they are. It's not as fun when it's not all of us.
Should I happen to stumble in to like 200 bucks for a plane ticket though, I'll mooch off WhateverWorks' hotel room and do the Saturday event.

I am totally with you here. Even if we dont take it home, we definitely will get sloshed and leave our mark. As for drinking alone, Windfall, feel free to do that while we are all getting trashed at gencon.

It was either the Vintage Avant-Garde drinks alone, or, the Vintage Avant-Garde drinks the most. We were pretty wasted that entire weekend, my memory is a little fuzzy. I just remember something about winning a Time Walk and Time Twister, and drinking Martinis in between every round...
