In Mike Long's most recent newsletter he mentions his newest addition to the T1 community, Long4. His claim is that the deck is named for the 4 cards that it will end up restricting. There were no details on the deck. My guess is that he's probably constructed some MeanDeck Gifts hybrid and is expecting to Restrict:

?????
Did anyone else hear anything further about Long4?

Haven't heard of it. And I don't think those cards will end up Restricted, not even Gifts.
Was Mike sooner with this 'deckidea' then Meandeck? If he was, damn the man is a dirty little genius..

Long's Newsletters are basically Marketing Spam for his MTG Secrets videos. There was no mention as to when he came up with Long4. I still don't even know what it is. But, based on his hints and its name I'm guessing its some sort of combo deck.

No, No, No... He said he would get 1 card restricted, because he has gotten 3 restricted already. He said Long 4 would get the 4th card restricted. Not 4 overall.
However, he said he goldfished 10 games and had these results:
Turn 1 Kill = 2 times
Turn 2 Kill = 6 Times
Turn 3 Kill = 3 Times
To me that isnt very impressive (especially for Goldfishing). Its probably crap like his clamp deck, and just another sad attempt to sell him videos. I wouldnt be suprised if it was Rystic Tutor, or maybe some type 2 card like the 4 casting cost artifact you sac to add 2 colorless mana... Or a sad attempt at Belcher.

I really think he means four cards restricted and 1 banned:
From his Newsletter:
"This time, I thought we’d flex the ‘Insider deck building muscle’ a bit and try to see if we can’t get four cards put on the Restricted list this time. Oh, and at least one card banned."
"By the way, I never named ‘Long.dec’—the Burning Wish and Mind’s Desire driven combo deck that helped get Wish, Desire AND Lion’s Eye Diamond put on the Resticted list.
Still, that’s what people know it as—so the new version will be Long4—for each card we plan to get put on the ‘Restricted list.’

That's a solid line of bullshit, considering Desire was restricted before any such deck existed and there were like 3-4 different Desire builds all of which were completely broken.  |

Ack, people misread his email...
He takes credit for the restiction of these cards
Lion's eye diamand (ok i guess he helped with this..)
Burning wish (again sure)
Mind's Desire (he credits himself which is redicules because it was restricted no matter what)

the first post were just 3 guesses by the poster... nowhere did mike long mention any of them...
He probably thinks (key word thinks) he broke some new card (that probably wont be anything new), and I bet he thinks the card he will get banned is either Yawgmoth's will, Tinker, of Mind's desire.... Either way its pathetic that people care when mike long rights anything vintage because he came up with the LED thing (that when presented was totally unrefined, and took alot of work from several members of the type 1 community to make it actually great.

That may be, however, no one here came up with it. You have to admit from an outside piont of view its a pretty wierd combo using some (at that time) bad cards, if your going to continualy give him shit about cheating the least you can do it give him credit for making an original combo deck that worked amazingly well.

Anybody can hit gold once. But claiming you are the fucking nuts, when it was only your basic idea and not your deck, is ridiculous. Don't forget, his suicide virus deck was going to get clamp restricted too.

Exactly. And since that was brought up, it's a well known fact that any deck with Craw Wurm is instantly made better with Scaled Wurm instead. It's splashable, can't be killed by singleton cheap red burn spells that that one kid Jason always brings to lunch at the middle school, and although a green card, the dragon is blue. And everyone knows that Blue is the best color in Magic.
More on topic, I'd laugh if Long's new deck to get a card restricted turns out to look almost exactly like the 'Meandeck Gifts' variant Smmenen posted.

His friend had a very ethnic and long name, and Long wrote about it first, so he got credit. Apparently Mike Long didn't read my Origins report to discover that there is already a deck that pulls off plenty of turn 2 kills by itself. Also, he must have missed Meandeck Tendrils and completely unaware of the existance of 2land Belcher. |

The list is nothing more then a crappy Rector Trix List thats out of date... He got fast kills that he showed because he was goldfishing, and any 1 counter would stop the combo completely...
He thinks he will get cabal therapy, Living wish (which he runs as a 2-3 of to get 4th rector in board), and rector itself... He thinks that he could possibly get yawgmoth's bargain banned...
I am not going to post the list, because its A.) horrible  B.) Not allowed by rules of Long's sight (yes he checks this sight)  C.) I already pissed that I wasted $7 to get a 1 month thing to see this crappy list...

I now officially love Mike Long. Anyone who seriously expects to get Cabal Therapy and Living Wish restricted (two cards I haven't seen in ages in a Vintage tournament) is a riot, albeit an unintentional one.

Could Rector Trix or Rector Tendrills make a comeback now? I mean, no one would be expecting it in the metagame. I saw a post about it being "revived" on TMD somewhere recently. It could certainly be revived with the right card choices. Gifts Ungiven would be the first card I would test.
I would really like to see Mr. Long's list, however, I am too skeptical to pay anything to see the list. Especially after I saw the Suicide Virus list!
Mike Long seems like a very knowledgeable and accomplished MTG player, heck he even has his own card (Rootwater Thief) but what's the deal with him? It seems like the Vintage community has something against him. Why does it seem like he gets no respect? I understand that his mailing list seems a little tacky, his deck lists for vintage have been really bad lately, and his marketing strategy is well.....cheesy to say the least, but he has put out some really useful decks and strategies in the past. What's the deal?
Has he lost credibility by using his card-selling gimmicks or putting out poor decklists as his own creations?
