I know that as kind of a pet hobby, many vintage players have favorite cards that they collect in foil.  I was wondering if any of you guys have particularly nifty collections of a particular card or cards.  Personally, I have been collecting Foil Goblin Welders for a while and now have sixteen foil copies of the card.  Mainly, I chose to collect Welders because they were so hard to find, and I enjoyed the challange of trying to find and acquire them.  (Also, I've been collecting them since they were a bulk rare.)  Are there any other foil Welder collecters out there?

Anyways I thought that I would start a thread for people to talk about their pet foil collections, and possibly why they chose to collect the particular card they did.

Mind's Desire, which I affectionately refer to as "JD's Desire."  There isn't one card in Magic is nearly as closely associated with me as Mind's/JD's Desire.  I only collect foil ones, and I currently have 9.  Those that have seen my lavander trade binder always make a comment about the first page, which features a Super Secret Tech surrounded by 8 of these Desire. My goal is to have a foil one of each language, and, so far, I've only got S. Chinese and T. Chinese.  If you can help me out, send me a PM.

In the old days i collected Elves of the deep Shadow. A friend of mine even paintbrushed this Elf on a shirt for me.

I have 19 of these.

Currently i am just trying to ge tthe ultimate collection, which means getting all series 4-5 times. I stopped getting them 5 times with mirodin as i didnt like the new layout. But before that serie i got every card at least once, but 95% i got 5 times. 1 for the set and 4 to play with.

Of all the good play cards in vintage i got at least 1 set of 4 or in case of restricted, at least once. I tend to collect everything so its taking everything out of me to get new cards with my crappy binder. But my friends always are amased at the cards i actually get through trading with my binder. They are always amazed at what kind of trades i pull of. (i never have the feeling i am taking advantage of other people when trading though)

I enjoy the collective sidething this game has. And i try to get to a major gaming festival (like Gencon) at least once a year.

The older cards are getting rarer now, especially since nobody ever takes them with them anymore when they are sparcely playable. This i think is a shame as they tend to be very nice looking and there must be more people like me out there.

I had a friend who had the ambition of wallpapering his room with Soulshrieks.  I think he got up to 1500 or so before he stopped playing Magic.  As for me, I've never really collected any specific card.

I have a bit of a thing for foil Anarchists, Scriviners, and Cartographers, and I've recently been collecting Shahrazads (I have maybe a dozen, including a really nice miscut one with the edge of the sheet, and a crimped one) but my main collection is still crimped cards.  I have 4 pieces of Beta power, Beta Balance, Beta Demonic, Beta Sea, and a zillion other awesome crimped Vintage cards.

I currently have thirty-five foil Dive Bombers, thirty-two of which are signed by Randy Gallegos (I only had 32 at the time).

I'd been playing Magic since Alliances, but when an Onslaught pre-release tournament was held at a local shop, I actually started to really get in to the game.

Dive Bomber was my "premium" card from the Tournament Pack I got, so I consider it the first card I got while I really kinda' knew what I was doing (and in doing so, I did NOT play it in my deck).

I collect Kaervek's Torches in order to have them signed by TMD members. I've no idea how many 'regular' Torches I have, but I currently have about 25 signed ones.

I was collecting Enslaved Dwarfs for a while because they're bondage midgets. I have 1 foil.

However, now I've been trying to increase my stash of Ekundu Cyclopses.

Lim-Dûl's Paladin has become somewhat of an obsession with me... The plan is to get them signed by various people eventually, but for now, I'm just up to collecting. I currently have 73, 69 of which are in that picture that is linked in my signature. I just love the artwork on the card, and the enourmous text box, too.

I dont collect any specific foils en masse, but ive recently decided to grab as many force spikes as I can...this started due to the fact that I happened to have 9 of them on a page in my trade binder and I thought they looked nice...

I know people in my area who collect things like Dark Rituals and more importantly Sheep Tokens though.

To be fair, it's not like the kid's parents would be eternally grateful to Smmenen or anything.
<ducks>

My card?  "Look At Me, I'm the DCI."  Always gets a chuckle out of me, not so much for the mechanics of the card itself but for the 'art' and flavor text.

I have found that Power is readily available to acquire if you want it and have the cards and, or, the cash to pick it up.  As I have traded through and ownded roughly 150 or so different pieces in the past year and a half.  Truely rare stuff, like Asian Foils, and Beta Blue Duals are scarce, and tend to be what really impress me.  Beta Duals and Asian Foils actually require a fair amount of searching out to find, and are what catch my eye when I look through a trade binder.  For instance, tomorrow at SCG Chicago compare the number of pieces of Power floating around to the number of Beta Duals, and I think that one would find far more Power circulating around than Beta Duals.  Not to mention many more Black lotus than Foil Asian Goblin Welders.  That is just one man's opinion, but collecting Power does not impress me much anymore.

I've no idea how many 'regular' Torches I have, but I currently have about 25 signed ones.
Of which mine is clearly the best. :)

I collect BB scryb sprites, but only for a deck (I think I need a couple more). The decklist is something like 4 Rancor 4 Land Grant 7-8 Forest (unglued), 24-25 Scryb Sprites (including beta, various asian BB, and other FBB).
