Who do you predict to win GenCon and what do you think that they will be playing?  Also, you can't name yourself, or complain about not being able to name yourself.

Smmenen. Who else is going, anyway? :p

He's obviously going to play Meandeck DracoPlosion. -3 Draco, -4 Explosion, +3 Intuition, +4AK. Or something.

I hope all the Top 8 will be a bunch of chumps that no one has ever heard about before, and they don't own any power of their own.
It's like when someone wins the lottery, you really hope they were poor and not rich. A rich person winning the lottery just doesn't seem proper to me.

Knickers, perhaps I can help turn your hope into reality; I don't own any power  Very Happy

To be honest, I'm not sure what's going to win.  Obviously, I want to have faith in our deck, but there are a lot of really good players going, and they're all smart enough to keep their lists to themselves for the time being.  I don't expect any of these threads to work; nobody with brains is going to disclose what they'll be playing.

I'm playing a deck with two mox sapphires so I will definitely have the best control deck in the field.

My money is on Roland Chang. I mean, come on, the guy has made 2 T8 appearances in 3 SCG tourneys with almost the same deck. He's an excellent player, and if he goes, my bets on him.

That didn't work last year, so it probably isn't going to work this year either. Wink  Now, maybe a deck with two Black Lotus...

Also, Meandeck will win.  I won't say who specifically, but it will most certainly be a Meandecker.

Well I guess statistically that would make sense; Meandeck has what, like, 5000 members nowadays?  When one's team encompasses 85% of the field it would only make sense that they would be able to put a few into the top eight.

Me, personally, I'm rooting for our buddy Josh from Chicago.   Go Josh!!

Bob, don't bullshit anybody.  My money is on this little asian man to wreck the house.  And if there is a White Castle within walking distance, oh shit, I don't know what will happen.  Not only is Bob now clean shaven, and therefore much more streamlined and consistant, he can also drink a 40 oz in like, 40 minutes.

That is like an oz. per minute.  I am changing my prediction immediately.  I now think that Bob's going to win!

Who hasnt? Seriously.

Well whoever wins, if you know me, you better thank me for something I did for you, even if it was get drunk sitting in front of your house or make out with your sister or convince you to play combo for the rest of your days... I want props from the champ. I might not be there in body, but I intend to be a hangover in the minds of millions. Okay maybe hundreds.

My money's on anyone with the balls to play any deck with a fireball/kaervek's torch win condition.  That would be cool.

Actually JD, I'll take that bet.  We can discuss it over AIM, but it will include asian foils.

I'm not sure exactly who's going, but I have good feelings about Rich Shay taking it, because, for fuck's sake, it's Rich Shay.

The starter of this thread also has a pretty good chance and I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the WotC front page after the event.

I'll be furious if Kevin Cron doesn't break records and make three consecutive top eights with Stax.

My Top8 Predictions (assuming these players are attending):

In No Order:

Vroman with UbaStax packing new tech
Kevin Cron with Non Uba Stax, er, I mean, CronStax
Onelovemachine with either TPS (if you play it, play it right!!!) or a Slaver Variant
Rich Shay with Slaver
BrassMan with white bordered cards
2 players with Fish, I dont care who
Someone with Dragon, who I will then send a foil chinese ambassador laquatus to because they are awesome

I'm going to give the nod to Rich Shay, this is his last hurrah before settling into the vast cornfields of Indiana to study Computer Sciences, you'd better believe he'll have his A game.
