I just wanted to say thanks and goodbye to everyone I have talked to and everyone I have met, its been great but the time has come for me to retire from this game.

A few people have asked, and a few more will, and some wont, but I will try to give a proper out.

For those of you that know me, you know that I have had alot of change in my life in the last year. I have a six year old daughter, and she is the primary focus in my life. I have undergone a divorce and I have been dealing with alot of financial issues. Right now it is more important to clear away my debt, follow through on purchasing a home and spending as much time with my daughter as possible. I need to get more order in my life and be more responsible in accomplishing my goals, and that takes away my time and devotion to a card game.

As I said, its been fun, and I will be lingering around the website for the better part of this week. I have one or two more tournaments in me locally, and I still have alot of cards to get rid of, so if you want drop me a line or come out and say hello.

Its been great knowing you all.

Dude! Goddammit. I hate it when cool people quit the game, let alone the site. I'm not going to try and talk you out of it, because:

...is the best reason EVER to quit. Mad props for having your priorities straight, man. I'm proud of you and I wish you and your daughter the very best of luck in both your lives.

Thanks man, that actually means alot. You were the coolest guy on the board and I never met you or really got too much chance to talk, but I loved reading what you posted and had a blast along the way. Thanks for the support.

I think it's a great thing that you are doing- awesome reason.  That said, as a magic player of 10+ years, i'm sure we'll see you again some day Smile  We all quit, and come back.  Just maybe in a more casual way next time!

Sorry to see you go man.  Good luck with all your future prospects.  Just know that if for some reason you ever feel like coming down for a random Chicago Im sure we can scrape together a sufficiently white-bordered copy of Tendrils or Dragon for ya.  Again, good luck with everything dude.

Benny, we expected you at GenCon until we talked to JDizzle and he informed us of what was transpiring.

We hear you will be out at the Time Walk tournament.  I may have to come out to see ya.

I'll be sure to keep in touch,

Thanks everyone... this all means alot to me. I will definitely be showing my face tomorrow night at pandemonium and it sounds as if sunday is a go, so I will also be parading around the time walk tournament (I might even play if I can get someone to build the deck I wanna play...) and all out having a good time.

It's always a shame to see someone quit. We never really talked, but your posts almost always made me laugh. Hope you at least stick around the community forums. Good luck to you and your daughter in everything you do!

(On a side note, I totally agree with Bram that your divorce was one of the most memorable threads ever posted.)

Our relationship has existed outside of Magic for some time and it will continue to do so.  Quitting cards doesn't mean we can't get beligerantly (sp?) drunk together once and a while and at least catch up.   Wink

Anyways, way to man up and keep in touch.

So I've finally found a place up here where I can get a free wireless signal that lasts longer than 10 seconds.

Ben, you've been one of my favorite people in our metagame ever since I've met you.  It's good to know that you're quitting for very justifiable reasons.  I traded my cardboard for a new life too, and it hasn't been the worst decision I've ever made.

But since you're intent on making me look bad in the Gencon thread by saying I went 0-2 and played Slaver, none of which was true, I must add this in - if you quit playing you'll never have a chance to beat me.  As far as I can remember, I'm still X-0 against you in all events we've ever been paired for.  =)

Anyway, I have no intention of ceasing conversation in our future.  Good luck with everything you do and let me know if there's anything I can do to help you.  I will do my best to be here for you, despite being 3 hours away now that I've relocated.

You will be missed.

Hey man.. sorry to see you having said issues. Sucks when shit happens to cool people, heh.

Sad to see you go, but as someone who went this way before, I can say I understand.

Hit me with a PM or AIM or something. We should get together when you've got some time.

I interrupt this thread for a special memory:

There once was a girl who wanted to kill me. I met her only once, but from the first second we talked she was obsessed with the idea. I probably would have never known she had the thought if she would not have started trying to accomplish it the next day. Over the course of three weeks she tried twice to run me down with her car, once to strangle me with a phone cord, three time I ate food that had arsenic in it, and once I was even nearly lit on fire.

While this is extremely entertaining in retrospect, it was not the most pleasant way to pass my days. I became edgy and paranoid, and was popping no-doze and drinking caffeine to stay awake and watch my back. I am not going down easy. I briefly had the thought that if I just killed her then it would be the end of it, but the problem was this: I didnt want to be a murderer (you are not allowed to make money writing books about your crimes any more) and I actually found her to be pretty hot when she was violently trying to end my life.

So I decided it was time for a confrontation.

It was pretty hard to wrestle her down and pry the knife out of her hands, but I was able to do so and with the help of some rope we were able to get comfortable and talk. Why the hell are you trying to kill me?

So once they bury you I can dig you up and make love to you.

Now back to your regular programming.

Clearly having Josh Franklin logged in on my computer, so that I may make a hijacked post is quite amazing. There should definetely be an amazing comment about onelovemachine's girlfriend here, perhaps me drinking whiskey from her belly button or some other such tomfoolery, but I'm sure that you're much better at coming up with entertaining little thoughts like that. So, Ben, I'll leave you with this: It's been amazing hanging out with you, playing Magic and otherwise. I have no doubt that, even now that you've "quit," we'll continue to have amazing times together. That, and, of course, you'll clearly be doing my girlfriend, so I'm sure I'll be around. Peace.
