Yeah, that 'didn't mean to be a downer' comeback is pretty darn smooth. I know it's completely besides the point of the story, but I can't help but wonder if Mary Jane was hot. Also: did anyone else immediately associate that name with Peter Parker?
I will say that Mary Jane was a beautiful person inside and out. I didn't associate it with Peter Parker, though, like many people, my first though was a certain smokable product which has been know to fight glaucoma.

Ray, as usual your stories make me wish I could convey half the emotion and power that you summon up. I'm glad that you recovered your cards, and I'm also managed to get such a powerful lesson out of your loss--and even though the loss was temporary, it seems the lesson will stick with you forever.
I remember years ago when I lost a binder at the Mirrodin prerelease and then had it returned by Chris K (Moobius), who had been judging at the event. At the Darksteel prerelease, someone sold him a beta lotus for $400. You can draw your own conclusions, but I'd like to think that Chris was getting what he deserved, and I hope the same happens for Josh.

This story was a great read, and I'm proud of everyone who put Magic on hold in order to help out a member of the community. As for Josh, I admire him for returning the deck and I'd like to assume I would be as ethical in the same situation. Without hijacking the thread, I'd like to contribute a little anecdote from down here in T-Town. Another player, also named Aaron, has shown up almost every week for as long as I have to play Type I. He has bi-polar disorder, and sometimes is an odd guy, but overall is just very nice. A couple weeks ago, he had his binder stolen by some random newbie, and while nothing of great value was lost, it was everything he had. My friend Miklos called up everyone who was at the tournament to see if the binder could be found, and when nobody turned it up, gave Aaron a bunch of good stuff to start a new binder out of his own pocket. Over the time I've known Miklos, he's done a lot of acts such as this, and it does go to show what great people play Magic. I admire him for being a stand up guy, and the same goes for everyone who helped look for Ray's missing deck.

On closer inspection, it turns out I was thinking purely about sleeping with a friend's gf just so I could bring it up to throw him off his A game the next time we faced each other in tournament play. It might have been better if I had just picked up on the pot connection.

That is so easy to discover that it suggests conspicuousness or little need for perspicacity in the observer.

Mostly it sings emo songs with an occasional cure cover. Last night it was singing in sign language. Correction: The Closet Door Is Wide Open in Michigan. This is so true. If I had a dollar for every time Bob tries to touch my dick, well, I would have at least five bucks... And I can't count the number of times while at Gencon all the fellas were asking me about my package. Seriously guys, must we always talk about dick?

Sooooo Good! Listen, Bob is roughly the same height as me, but size? Come on.... I am well known in the vintage community for my "size." Bob is a specimen no doubt, but can he really be compared?

That was a very beautiful story. Time and time again it amazes me how upstanding the T1 community is.
I just wanted to share my "lost deck" story from Gen con 2k4. It was the late Friday night for the T1 that started at 10pm where crappiness fell down upon myself. 10pm the tourney was supposed to start. So, I'm all ready deck registerred, backpack put in locker and happy to be able play. It wasn't a good week so far for me. I brought fully poweredTog with me and I think I've only won one match so far that week. I couldn't care less; I get to play with the cards I've been collecting for 6+ years. So i sit, wait and talk a bunch with the GWS crew as we are waiting for it all to start. 6 or so of us are sitting around gabbing and wondering when it is going to start. We completely miss the call for pairings. We end up waiting around until about 10:30 before we finally find out we all lost the first round. It wasn't that bad at least, I was paired up with Matt Endriss. Since we both didn't show up, we both get a match loss. We got a good laugh out of that. Some of us are thinking of dropping, but we already paid for the thing and the practice is always good.Â
So, next round comes up and I notice my deck is not in my pocket. I walk up to my opponent, hand him a match win and start looking for my deck. Some of the guys hanging around still try to help looking around tables and down the long path to outside were I took my cancer breaks. A good hour after we were looking I gave up the search. After a bunch of encouragement from everyone around me, I gave my wife a late night call to vent my sadness. She gives me about a half hour pep talk while I consider what I have left with me. If all else failed, I could always put together unpowerred Fish, which made me happy. I was down but not out.Â
I decide to pick up my backpack out of the locker and head back to my room to open up my sealed winnings from that day and the day before. I sucked at T1 all week, but I at least won a bunch packs playing sealed. So I get up to my room, and tell my cousins I lost my deck and get more sympathy. I open my backpack and low and behold - missing deck. I can be such an idiot sometimes.
Next day I go 0-3 drop and win more packs playing sealed.Â
I just wanted to say thanx to everyone for their help, thoughts, encouragement, and comfort. It makes me feel part of a decent community of caring and helpful people.

I didn't notice it either, and I also didn't think about Spiderman. I thought it was an old acquaintance of Ray's on first reading... *shrug* Anyway, Bram, there's a reason you woudn't associate the name "Mary Jane" to grass: You don't need euphemisms where you come from... so why bother thinking about them? On the story, I think it's great that stuff like this still happens. It kind of shows that having faith in mankind isn't entirely wrong and pointless! And I'm glad to be part of this community, even if I wasn't there to participate in the quest for the lost cards. Dozer
