It was a really nice event, and I'll join next year for sure again. I went 6-2 in the swiss, getting 14th or so. TPS didn't disappoint me at all Very Happy

So I won the lotus! My team put up a wonderfull prestation, placing two of our three members in top 8, stefan and me. Joram played stax, and didn't had any luck today. Our oath deck worked really well. Stefan and my record in swiss was like 6-0-2, I won the top 8, stefan lost to me in the semifinals, and then won the battle for the loa.

So our deck had like:
3 ID
1 draw due to bad luck, needed extra turn, or needed to oath up razia instead of woodripper.
17 wins
1 loss because we had to play in against eachother in the semi's....

Wow. The first place deck can muddle the mixture for Null Rod.

How often did Null Rod win you games?

Fixed. If I missed anything else, or forgot somebodys TMD Handle (sorry Steffen), please tell me.

About my own tournament: I ran Meandeck gifts, with a few tweaks that me, Dozer and Michael Heiduk came up with. The list ran pretty well, but on the decisive moments, I didn't have luck on my side.

First of all congrats to Daniel and Stefan for perfectly tweaking Oath, I think its the best list of Oath i've seen in a while, if not best ever.
Null Rod fits perfectly since it slows down the game when you want to and makes Gifts unable to race your Oath (One of the main problems with Oath IMO)

Myself I did pretty well, but was a bit unlucky not to make top8 with a 6-1-1 record. I got paired down last round to screw up my tiebreakers (even more). (Number 5 to 11 al went 6-1-1)

I played combo-oath, a pretty original deck which I created for this event. I'll be writing a report if I can find some spare time, but I can tell you right now my only loss was against TPS; I lost two games in which I had turn 1 necro (shit happens)

Top 8 out of almost 180 people is pretty random, and not making top8 on bad luck sucks but hey, thats life.

Heya all,

I went to fifth place with my TPOath i have been playing a long time. I went 6 0 2 after going 6 0 0 after 6 rounds and could draw into the top 8. One the one hand it was good to do this as i had some hard matches along the way. (i will be writing a report after this) Perhaps it was bad as i settled down and didnt need to stay concentrated that much. I feel that in the quarter i may have made a playmistake, but at the time i thought it was a good play to risk and it turned on me. But in the end i was glad on how my deck performed during th day.

Biggest advantage i found was it had no problem with less developped decks out there. My deck did well and along the day i didnt have to many bad plays.

The machups
R1 dragon 2-0-1 3 points
R2 mono green beatz 2-0 6 points
R3 control slaver 9 points
R4 control slaver 12 points
R5 ravager (hero) 15 points
R6 control slaver (markus) 1-1 16 points (game 3 I had a change of 1/2 of killing him in the fifht turn, needed to oath up razia, but it was my woodripper...)
R7 stax 2-0 19 points
R8 TPoath ID 20 points

T8 ubas stax 2-1
Lost game 2 due to not drawing my third land for 5-6 turns on a row....
Won game 3 due to topdeck flux, but oath would have been nice to. Didn't see much speed from my deck, but he was drawing power + bazaar each game...

T4 stefan with oath
Stefan  is a teammember, he last minute wanted to play my list, only differents are waste #4 and null rod #2, against 2 impulse. And he plays 61, a extra drain.

I won because I abused his oath, and won the orchard war, G2 I won because I drew thirst into thirst into thirst into thirst, and the all resloved Smile

T2 steffen (dr evil)
Lost game 1, he started with, recall, I fow, he fow. I didnt have a mox, but my hand contained null rod land, orchard, waste, he played gifts next turn, for mana artifacts had will in hand, drew his time walk, en comboed me out next turn with flame vault....

Game 2, he mulls twice, I cast oath without orchard turn 3, with UU backup, he responds with gifts, I play shadow of doupt Razz

Game 3
I mull into: orchard,mox,sea,duress,leak,oath
He starts with, mox u, fetch. My draw gives me a FOW. I play land mox go, he brainstorms + fetched, in his turn he casts gifts, I leak he fowed, okay resolve, he fetches, tinker broken cards. My turn, draw thirst, I duress his will away, drop orcard + oath, go, he plays his scrying, taking him beneath 18 Smile sweet. My turn, I oath up akroma. Next turn he can't win, so I'm the dutch champion!

Why did I wanna play oath? That's because it had a good matchup against random decks, which I expected a lot, I only needed to improve the less good matchups. I used to play 4cc, and I was always in love with mana disruption, so I want 5 waste. I couldn't play shaman like in 4cc, and null rod works well with muddle. I only had to figure out correct numbers. Before muddle, we already had created oath with null rods. Joram de Kraker played it in Den haag a while ago and top 8 in that tournament. Then we felt like that's what was missing in oath.

Null rod is just so brutal against gifts and control slaver, and TPS and stax. Most games I played it, I won the game.

Null rod won me several games against control slaver. Your opponent won't be able to hardcast his artifacts and weld them back in.
Transmute is really good, you can fetch, time walk, oath, demonic, null rod. All cards that can win games.
It's a counter against gifts, cause you don't want to transmute it early because of the sorcery speed + uu1
It's never dead, only against shop but you can still transmute or pitch it to fow.

Mana drian was always bad in oath, so it wasn't that hard to cut those.

About my own tournament: I ran Meandeck gifts, with a few tweaks that me, Dozer and Michael Heiduk came up with. The list ran pretty well, but on the decisive moments, I didn't have luck on my side.

Neither had I, although I attribute my horrible record (4-4) to my own stupidity. I got a matchloss because I sat at the wrong table and my opponent's actual opponent didn't show up either. He got a matchloss as well; had he shown up, neither of us would heave gotten that. Yes, you may laugh now. :p
I lost the first round against GOAT in a 3-game-match against Leon Kuster (Limbo on these boards), lost the second round against Stax 0-2 in an extremely long second game and was out of contention for T8. I kept playing for fun and rating, but had two big brainfarts, one being the wrong table, and the other one I will tell you about on a sunny day.

The deck I played is as good as any well-built Gifts deck. Michael Heiduk (Blitzbold on these boards) went 6-2 with it, missing T8 by a single match, and will likely post a report. I'll spill the beans now and talk about the deck in detail later: No secondary kill (neither Flame Vault nor Belcher), 4 Gifts/ 1 Thirst/ 3 Scroll (Rudy had 4 Scroll, no Thirst), Bribery in the board, which was actually very good.

More on that later. It was awesome meeting the Dutchie crew, and BIG thanks to Rudy for hosting Michael and me for the weekend! Even though my record wasn't good at all, I still had a blast just being there. Congratulations to Marco on his T8 finish and to the rest of the T8 competitors (except for fellow German Markus Magera, because I think there have been more deserving players to make T8), but especially the finalists and the winner!

some thoughts on this list:

Erik de Koning
5 Mountain
4 Bazaar of Bagdad
4 Nishra’s Workshop
4 Wasteland
1 Barbarian Ring      This card has great utility and synergy in the deck. Id run atleast 2, hopefully closer to 4. cut some mountains
1 Strip Mine
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring
1 Black Lotus
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Trinysphere
4 Challice of the Void
4 Smokestack
3 Uba Mask
3 Crucible of Worlds
3 Tangle Wire                tanglewire is just not that effective. its a tempo card thats inferior choice in a prison deck. these slots should just be more copies of the other hard locks
2 Null Rod
4 Goblin Welder
1 Gorilla Shaman
2 Solemn Simulacrum
2 Duplicant
1 Sundering Titan
1 Karn, Silver Golem         the null rod anti-synergy really is a factor. nonmana activated artifacts have to go
SB:
3 Viashino Heretic
2 Null Rod
2 Duplicant
2 Pyroclasm
2 Lava Dart
2 Maze of Ith
1 Uba Mask               Ive found that boarding extra locks is a waste. the board should be nothing but the most potent hosers and answers.
1 Tangle Wire

good job on the top8!

I had a blast playing in the tournament with Gifts-Oath. I dropped with a result of 4-2, beating Gifts, TPS, Doomsday and R/W hate/burn, losing to Gifts and drawing vs Gifts in the proces. The deck is very cool, I am most certainly going to play it some more in upcoming tourney's.

Play of the day : Siding out the Colossus versus the R/W player, and winning by reclamating Lotus + Will after an Oath-activation for my deck, resulting in massive damage Tendrills. He was holding two REB's at that moment Smile

Props to the organisation of the tournament for arranging it and to Martina Pilcerova for drawing me an X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter vs Dragon battle on my panorama of islands from CoK  Cool
