MWS Finishing School

Quote
I'm sure that the suggestions put forth in this article will already be second nature to many of you… But on the off chance that intarweb social graces aren't your area of expertise, I've taken the time to provide a simple guide to help you test online in a courteous and efficient manner. I've taken some excerpts from TheManaDrain.com's MWS/APPR Horror Story thread and my own experiences to highlight some specific examples of some infractions of these rules.

This article was inspired by the MWS/APPR Horror story thread, if anybody has any suggestions for rules I may have overlooked I'd be interested to hear them. I also plan to write more material in the future so any critiques are welcome.

PS. I know my last name has been misspelled, no need to inform me.

PS 2. The good people at MagicWorkstation have asked to try and get the link to their walkthrough/guide out there as well, so here it is www.mwsgames.com/index.php/Strovil%27s_Standard_Play_Guide_for_MWSPlay

I do not play this on line magic (yet) but i thought all these rules are some sort of common courtesy. The same rules apply for real life magic and as such i would think people have some common sense in treating other people with respect.

It could off course be that this is just the case in vintage and no other format as i only have time to play vintage and some legacy. But i would think it common courtesy in any format, live or on line.

Hey, just wanted to say great article.  There are a lot of rude people online.  I had my first really rude guy the other day.   I went first and played a first turn Smokestack, ended my turn.  He called me an ass then quit the game.  I hope they read your article and learn something from it.

I like phases b/c it eliminates some problems with mana drain, and when playing oath, your upkeep can get pretty busy.

You might think so, but you'd be wrong. People online have no manners. Anonymity + freedom from repercussion = total dickwad.

Here's what Penny Arcade has to say on the subject (profanity).

Yes, that's what I was plagiarizing. I knew I'd seen that somewhere but couldn't remember where.
