I saw the first season of Beauty and the Geek, it was great fun.
I'll see it on DVD, which is the only place I'll watch TV anymore, with few exceptions. When I think about my TV habits, I'm not sure how advertisers aren't quaking in their boots. I haven't turned on a television (except to watch a VHS or DVD) in... so long I'm having trouble recalling. Several months at least. Right now I'm finally starting to watch Battlestar Galactica's first season on DVD through Netflix... I never thought I'd say this, but it is even better than Babylon 5. It's all the more amazing in light of it being the first season, when most scifi shows are nearly unwatchable. |

Right now I'm finally starting to watch Battlestar Galactica's first season on DVD through Netflix... I never thought I'd say this, but it is even better than Babylon 5. It's all the more amazing in light of it being the first season, when most scifi shows are nearly unwatchable. So good! The only part of the show that I don't like is #6, but there is a lot less of that as the series progresses. |

It depends whether you like interpersonal relationships/dialogue or large-scale plot more. I like Babylon 5 a lot more than I like Firefly because it's just a different style of drama, more based on political events than individual adventures. Battlestar Galactica is more like B5 than Firefly, and it's absolutely amazing, so I like BG much better than Firefly, too. |

I liked Firefly because it reminded me a lot of Cowboy Bebop (not only in setting and plots, but how the story progressed), but the lack of an actual arc gives it a sense of lacking. BSG on the other hand has this large overbearing story, is done very well and it intresting. The story gives it a major plus. |

- The Office (the US version. Normally I like British comedy, but in this rare case, the US version is far funnier (to me, an American) than the British verison). I've seen all of both, and I consider them both to be extremely funny. It is important to note that ricky and steve took the show in different directions; the shows have much different styles and focus, and therefore a different appeal. I have been watching some of the US version. In general, I prefer the british humor above the american series. I kinda dislike how the boss in the american series, besides being childish and stupid, is a real arse, whereas the boss in the british version only is childish and stupid, but at least he had some kind of weird attempts at being nice. That is one of the defining traits that gives the british version its edge over the american one. The tricks being pulled by Jim and Pam on Dwight are very cool though. But then again, the conversations that Tim and Dawn have with Gareth about "approaching men from behind with wood in his hand" are awesome as well. Yah, in general I tend to prefer sarcastic, dry British humor far more than people being retards, but this one is just the opposite for me. The Dwight character is probably the best part of that show - extremely well acted and amazingly funny. I'm kind of annoyed they opened the whole "Pam [and the whole office] knows that Jim used to/still does like Pam", etc, etc. I hope that part of the plot dies down because trying to add real drama to "The Office" is like a hooker trying to add "romance" with her "clients"- there's no way it will not feel awkward and unnatural and it takes away from the real "feel" of the experience. |

I have been noticing the significant increase in office romance, to the detriment of the management antics. At the moment there are ~3 romantic storylines. Hopefully there will be more of Dwight/Jim and Michael/Corporate in the near future.

although the dwight/blond woman storyline works because 1. it's so odd they can make jokes about it and 2. it's a minor storyline. Yeah, that one is actually cool. The Corporarate one is just stupid, as this messed up multiple episodes, and also the tricks being played on the Jim/Pam thing sucks. The cool thing about the Tim / Dawn was that they kept it quite passive for the entire series (except for the training day epi, where they cheat a bit, but it was still cool). In the US version they start pushing it way too fast with the wedding and all. |

Product placement doesn't brand as effectively as actual commercials do. I'd always understood it as working well for established brands who wanted to associate their (already recognizable) product with a certain image, but it's hard to see how it would help establish a newcomer. Please note that I didn't actually read the wiki entry, so if this is covered or contradicted by anything there: it wasn't me, someone else used my account and posted this. |
