So here's the scenario:
You beat Randy Buehler in Richmond, but not only do you beat him, you DECIMATE HIM. You leave his entrails flapping with your new tech, Tolarian Winds. He is so impressed with you that he not only gives you a BOX of Russian 9th Edition, but he tells you that he's going to fund a week-long shopping spree of yours, that can add up to 2,000, but not go over. You have exactly one week to buy whatever you want MAGIC-RELATED PRODUCTS adding up to 2,000 - and you can NOT go over.
What would you get?

well for me, this sort of happened. my school loan always leaves me with extra and this year it was alot, the most it has ever been...2400 so i bought tons of foils like welder, intuition, plus beta stuff. and i got 3 beat moxen, and 2 shops. all of those cards were around that much. then in january i got another refund but had to use it to live on as i was unemployed at the time.
in that situation i would probably rebuy drains, and more shops, as i dont have them anymore. or get the other 2 beta moxen i need for the deck

I would just buy expansion sets. You heard me. I'd totally want to start up a draft box of old expansion sets. I'd get all the alternate art, too, and start with Arabian Nights, then Antiquities, etc, and work myself all the way up to whenever I could. Then I'd get a bunch of sleeves, sleeve them up, and put them in a box and draft it with friends. I already own a few sets that we do this to, the funnest is unquestionably The Dark.
Safe Haven + Preacher Merfolk Assassin + War Barge
What's not to love?
The best part about it is that either FLOOD or Ashes to Ashes is the most powerful card in the format.

I would complete my set of dual lands and then start working on new-duals. I don't know if $2000 would get me all of them, considering that I only have about ten dual lands and two new-duals.

Ruby, jet, 2x workshops, 3x bazaars. Thats what I need to stop playing with proxies. After that I would get foil/asian cards for my favorite decks and several packs of sleeves.
I also would buy a foil-french mindslaver.

One Arabian Nights City of Brass to complete my playset, a playset of Bazaars, and after that as many foreign blackbordered original Dual lands as possible with the rest of the money. Oh yeah, and two boxes of Unglued-Unhinged-Uuhinged draft sets.

Beat Power. Best investment money can buy. You get it for anywhere between 50 to 70% of it's value, so you may be able to get most of it. Sure, mint power holds its value well, and collecters love it, but if you indeed aren't liquidating and are instead investing, you want the maximum potential gain out of this.
If you can get a beta lotus in phat condition forget beat anything, that would be AWESOME.
So you may ask "why beat, why not nm/m?". That would be your time constraint. You said 1 week, right? The ability to find power for a reasonable price within a week in good condition for a good price is next to none. You're going to waste your money overpaying for good condition, but you won't overpay for beat shit. Nobody overpays for beat shit, and if you do you're crazy.
I'd also get bazaars and workshops, because lands don't go out of style. But neither does the P9 (but I wouldn't get any time twister time twister sux balls).

Finish a playset of duals, finish playset of fetches, 4 Meddling Mage, 4 Time Vault, 1-2 Berserk, 1 Intuition, entire goblin deck, a Stifle or three, Jittes, Grim Tutors, various other interesting Portal cards, 2 Tradewinds, some Exalted Angel, Exploration, Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox love...uh Burning & Living Wish...LED, Cranial Extraction...
basically buy myself the entire Legacy format. No foils or pimping, unless it's like 25 cents more than the regular.
Oh and like a case of sleeves.

I'd go to this place I know of called Magic Fingers. It's a massage parlor. For two grand I am sure I could get multiple happy endings and have just a general all around good time. If the two grand doesn't have to be spent at once, I am sure two grand would last me most of the week.

I'd dump it all paying Ron Spencer/other artists to alter the crap out of some awesome staples. Pretty much I'd try to get the restricted list altered like nobody's business.

I'd buy sets of playables. We already own most playables but we want the ability to put together every deck in most formats. So I'd buy new duals, Goblins, cards that are in Fish that I don't own (Jitte's, Stormscape Apprentice, True Believers 3x.. Etc). I'd buy all expensive Type II rares, and if I have money left I'd buy draft and sealed deck sets. I probably wouldn't have any money left though, since we still need 4 Time Vaults..
Oh, and sleeves. Looooooots of sleeves. Sleeves g00d..

A set of Arabian Nights.
I agree. I was going to pick up one from a guy at a local shop in PA, but he wanted too much for it. Beta Lotus, 4 Shops and however many Bazaars with the leftover.
Someone's looking to play Ubastax.... Or not. So, this topic got extremely popular extremely quickly.

I'd probably finish my set of beta Power, but $2000 wouldn't really get very far on that. I still need 2 Moxes, Ancestral, Walk and Lotus, so $2,000 might buy about 3 of those, if I bought the Moxes and the Ancestral.
I guess I could finish my set of Bazaars.
Nah, fuck all that. I'd pick up all the random shit that I'd like to have but don't. Stuff like Chains of Mephistopheles, Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, etc. I'd also like to complete my set of BB duals (all I gots is the blue ones plus a few other random ones), foil fetches (not just the blue ones), cause those are good to have around. That's stuff that one day might be useful and I don't have any of it because it's largely not worth spending my own money on it. I'd also like stuff like foil Meddling Mages, and other cards that I'll probably never actually play, but wouldn't mind owning for the sake of completion.
Or maybe I'd get the cards for extended or Standard. I'd be willing to play those formats if it didn't cost me so much money.

Quick question.
Do foils degrade over time? If you played with a foil (in a sleeve) for years, would it lose its shine or have a reduced shine?

I'd probably spent the money on cards like Bazaar, Illusionary Mask, Power and some random old fun cards like Juzam Djinn. This would be enough to be able to put together some kick ass mulitplayer decks I'd never have to dismantle again. I'd also get a complete set of fetchland, painland and shockduals so I can put together any damn extended/T2 deck I feel like playing. One thing I definatly wouldn't do is waste money on foil shit or something like that.
