http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/suspended&tablesort=5

I never knew this actually existed, that players could get suspended from the dci and sanctioned tournaments.

Some of these reasons are retarded, assault on a judge....LOL

Are there any familiar names to anyone on that list?

There are some Dutchies on that list I know.. One of them (Sven) received 3 Bye's at a GP while he shouldn't even get one. He failed to mention this and got caught.

There are some retarted reasons on that list indeed..

Draft violation, (Judge) Assault, Randomly Determining the Outcome of a Match (SO WHAT), Tournament violation, Theft, Failure to desideboard (Ban??), Threatening Behavior, etc.

What the fuck..?

Matt    Mercier

He's gotta be the biggest douche I've ever met. His head also looks like a penis.

Shaun    Cranford

He does the altered stitch-a-togs. This dude is pretty chill, and he mostly plays 5c. He alters alot of cards.

Nick    Solick

Went to my University, dropped out, then started playing magic competitively. I've never had a problem with him, but everyone around here seems to hate him.

It can be things like failing to report tournaments, or failing to give out minimum prizes if they were guaranteed. This covers a lot of things.

Draft violation, (Judge) Assault, Randomly Determining the Outcome of a Match (SO WHAT), Tournament violation, Theft, Failure to desideboard (Ban??), Threatening Behavior, etc.

Draft violation is for things like double dipping, communicating, or

Assault isn't allowed for what should be fairly obvious reasons, and they are quite serious in banning people for assault.

Randomly Determining the Outcome of a Match goes against the Swiss system. The player that wins 2 games is supposed to move up in the standings, not the guy that wins a die roll. Doing so compromises the integrity of the tournament.

Tournament violation could be one of a multitude of things. I'm not going to list them all, but I'd assume that it was someone failing to follow tournament procedures many times.

Theft should also be quite obvious.

Failure to desideboard is called "Cheating" if it is intentional. You are not allowed to say "My next opponent is playing $DECK, I'll leave in my $CARD that is good against $DECK."

Threatening Behavior is also not allowed. It was probably a repeated offense, which merited a suspension, but it could just be one incident that was really bad.

I know some of the guys who got suspended in Maine. They draft at the FNM where I draft at home. They were caught adding cards into their sealed decks...they got a really long suspension.

Bah, Magic tournament systems are flawed anyway - rolling dice to determine the outcome of a match isn't going to make it any worse.

I'm not entirely sure what this means – the legal definition of Assault includes threatening to hit someone, so a good case could be made that anything serious here should just come under Assault. That said, whatever it's called, I support getting rid of it, since there's absolutely no need for any of that in Magic.

I threated to hit people all the time at magic tournaments, I never get banned for it :<

I even slapped outlaw off his chair.

well, more like flipped his chair out from under him, is that considered assault?

If someone complained, it would be. Otherwise, probably not, but, as always, it depends on the circumstances.

I recogize one or two guys from Ohio, one at least I have played against at multiple Regionals/States (he always seemed on the up-and-up to me, not to mention I beat him each time).  I believe his violation was deck-stacking, interesting to see since he never seemed the least bit shady to me.  WOTC site is down now, or I would paste his name (i saw the list like a week or two ago)

That was such an awesome story, JP.

Regardless of whether or not it's flawed, it's against the rules, which you accept when you play in a DCI Sanctioned tournament.

I don't have details. I'm just guessing at what might have happened.

There was a lot of discussion about GP: Richmond. From the multiple DQs from the same area, it sounded like they were going and planned on cheating.

Mm, you are correct. But I'm sure JD had something to do with it. Someone messed with ponyboy?

Oooooh Man, some amusing stories came out of this one, a bit too long winded to list here though.

My friend Dave (I used to travel to tons of type 1 events in the North East with him) was the one Mouth was playing when the head judge came over to have "a talk with mouth".

What was funny was, my friend Dave ALWAYS does dumb stuff like sloppily registering decklists, playing with crappy sleeves, etc, so he was certain that the judge was coming over for him.

The head judge came back and informed Dave of the situation to the extent that he could.  Quite a moment to witness.

There are a couple I know of on there from California...

Both are kinda stupid IMO, but whatevah.

#1 is Trying to get a prize split to occur in a sanctioned tournament...the guy offered cards for a win or something...its something people do in non-sanctioned T1 here a lot, and nobody really cares...so a player making the switch to sanctioned got hammered for it in a finals match..

#2 was a guy I know well and trust...he got banned because a teammate in a team draft kind of thing got caught cheating somehow so they banned the whole team... Sad

I remember Pat Chapin stood up on top of a Table after a win and pulled up his shirt rubbing his nipples and swinging that stupid cowlick Hare Chrishna haircut around wildly yelling something like owned and only got a warning.   Just goes to show.  lol
