Amazingly, I never posted on this thread, despite posting here for like 6 months. So
Name: Justin Droba Age: 20 Location: I'm from Dearborn, MI (and Michigan is my home base), but I go to school at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN, the wasteland of the Midwest. I'm currently a junior, studying Mathematics and plan to go on for my Ph.D. afterwards (at a college in a city with solid Vintage support, hopefully).
I've been playing since Visions and been interested in T1 ever since I started. I've taken a few years off (most recently just before Onslaught ~ about the beginning of June of this year), but am really glad to be back in the swing of things. Interestingly, it was my roommate who got me back in. He was like "Dude, we should go to Origins this year," and I figured it was a good idea to start playing Magic again...
I'm partial to control (played it forever), but I'm also known to play a lot of combo.
EDIT: Ok, so I don't play control like at all anymore. I've morphed into the hardcorest of combo players.

I have been playing Magic since the release of Judgement. I know it doesn't seem like a long time, but since the day I pulled my first Mutilate I was hooked. Out of 52 weeks a year I would say I play Magic at least 50 of them. To bad people like to travel for Christmas and Memorial Day it's a shame. Anyways, I have just recently decided to join the Vintage Band Wagon. I am very excited and have yet to come to a conclusion of what deck to play at my first tournament. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Just click on my www link to go to my personal webpage, and there you can find more contact information. Thanks for reading.

I have been playing the magical cards since 1995, have sold my collection twice (Boy do I regret it) and lurking on the boards since beyond. Do to my current lack of power, I mostly play budget and 10 proxy decks. Since I only have Sundays off most of the time, its hard for me to make it to any tourneys at all, however if Hammer keeps having 10 proxy tourneys on Sundays, I might actually be able to make one or two before I die of old age. Oh hell, gotta run, the kids are after my cards again, arrrrgggggggg.

Hey all!
Name: Tony F. Age: 16 Playing since: Tempest Occupation: Pool Hustler
I actually sold my collection once to pay for a drug addiction, worst mistake of my time. This stuff is more addicting than what I was using. It's cardboard crack. You think you get out of it's grips, you're good for a year or two and it comes back to you; in spades. *Shudders* Oh well, it's nice to get back to those things that you enjoy.
I play mainly control or combo. I've played aggro once. Took first at an FNM and then returned to 'Tog back when Invasion / Oddyssey was in. I drifted out of the Standard scene once Mirrodin hit and got into Vintage and 1.5, the guy who I sold my cards to gave back to me for half of what I sold them to him for. I don't want to spill my life's story here, I am starting to sound like an ugly redheaded step-child now, so I leave you with that little bit of me.

This looks like fun! Hi all!!! My name is Ryan Spindler (22) but im better know as Rhyno. Been doing this magic thing since revised, but only started seriously playing the game like 3-4 years ago. Im from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Besides not Qing in a number of attempts ive come very close 3-4 times and feel satisfaction from the things ive accomplished on a local level. Magic is beyond a addiction for me its passion, im one to not only want myself to do good but the others around me! In the end the players your around are part of the variable how good can i be. I ve help mil town build its magic base from when we used to be lucky to get 8 for a FNM to now when we get 16-32 players everytime, I also help the magic community find a new place for FNM just missing 1 week when our old store bailed on us. Type 1 is the newest format, to me that is. Started some time last spring, top 8ing the first 2 tourneys held here at Game Universe. Which most pelople are like who plays t1 in milwaukee but we draw the GWS guys who have since invited me to the crew, which iam greatful for. Looking foward to my first full year in t1, and you better wacth out for GWS this year, Rhyno's hungry for some SCG top 8ing. So thats how i got here.

Hey, I am a vintage player and have been playing type 1 competively for a solid year or so. You can constantly find me at neutral ground because I am one of the actual few players there who actually keeps up with the format and is always interested in type 1. As far as magic goes I am always that guy who can never play the tier 1 deck and it seems to suit me best. I have top 8'ed at two PTQ's if it is any relevancy on my experience in other formats. I love playing type 4 as well it is probably one of the funnest things that I ever came across.
My collection of magic cards for a person who has been playing competively for one year is rather vast. I have a playset of Workshops, 5 mana drains, some power and lots of other playable cards. I was on team Neutral Ground but that did not last very long due to complications and will always be open to try joining different teams etc.
I am currently a high school student, a senior at that and will most likely be going to SUNY Oswego or Cornell University next year. I enjoy long nights of drinking obscene amounts of liquor and greatly enjoy fishing (freshwater in particular).
If you ever feel that you want to playtest Type 1 or anyother format my AIM is LapseofreasonX I plan to start posting in Newbie forums more often and put in my own imput. (I've been reading these forums and not saying anything for too long). Many thanks for reading I suppose.

Started playing originally during the release of Mirage block, as just a little kid. Tempest arrived and Slivers kept me busy until Exodus, when I left the game (for no real reason). Picked it back up in Legions, after a couple of friends showed me the return of the greatest creature race ever, and I rejoined out of nostalgia.
Then I started to play good Type II decks. Mirrodin was released, I had some fun with it. When I heard about the power of Affinity, I decided that if I was going to play against truly powerful stuff, I was going to do it the way it should be done. Took second at my first T1 tournament.
Fun Story: I make my living selling random junk off eBay, and this one guy from England bought a ton of role-playing stuff off me: dice, books, bags, etc. So, I marked the Customs form "RPG Accessories." Hilarity did NOT ensue.

Name: Doug Where: Newport, Rhode Island Age: 30 Job: Web Deisgner Interests: Magic, RPGs, comics, video games
I started playing Magic right before Legends came out. I had my own store in Westerly, RI for a couple of years (Beyond Comics/ Video Guild) where I ran Type 1 tourneys weekly. When that fell through I went back to college for my BFA.
In college I had a great group of competetive Magic playing friends. We went to Prereleases, PTQs (Joe Manseau even won one!) and local tourneys. When we stopped playing I quit and sold off all my cards (How many times have I done that now?! ).
A couple of years ago I fell back in and taught a couple of new guys how to play as well as my now 12 year old son. They guys don't really play as much anymore but the kid does. We attend 2-3 local tourneys a month as well as most of the prereleases.
Sometimes I attend the local (New England) power tourneys by myself but that gets pretty boring. I need to find a competitive group of Type 1'ers in RI to playtest with again. My power 9 is getting a little dusty!

Name: Eric Caffrey Age: 17 Where you at dawg?: Lakewood Ohio, C-Town Represent! Playing Since: Invasion Hey guys! Here's My story: I started playing around the Invasion Golden Years of Type 2. I had the best Tog deck in the area at the time (that actually went up to the store, Alter Reality), but after Invasion rotated I focused on Extended. I built the Rock, and had it all the way up until the Columbus MrBC PTQ in Cleveland like 6-8 months ago, where Josh Philips and his wife (I think, I knew it was someone named Josh, guessing on the last name) traded me a whole lot of my useless-but-good cards for 5 Duals. Well, that got me hooked on Vintage, because now I was set on winning power, or somehow, miraculously(sp.) finding them at a Garage Sale or something. I was so hyped on it I even envisioned finding them, at the Flea Market or something. And thus, my vintage career has blasted off to a rocky, but slowly accumulating start, and hopefully my hard work will someday pay off. Current Decks: I know, I know, but Meandeck SX. I keep hearing it sucks, but I always draw godly on it, so I'm sticking to it for a few months, maybe I'll get lucky with it. You never know. If you play at Alter Reality send me a PM and we can meet up there sometime, I literally live a block away. P.S. Mr. Chang- Sorry about weirding you out about the whole Waterbury thing at the last Mox thing at Alter during round 3. I gotta get better at greetings like that.

Name: Shane Age: 22 Live in: Barrie, Ontario, Canada Playing since: Umm. Around Ice Age, Fallen Empires *cough* Crap *cough* Interests: Magic, Guitar, Internet (for research and pron),my son and common-law wife of 5 years, and most of all, Magic again. Job: Machine operator Magic History: It all started at school. A friend of mine had about 100 cards and told me I could buy a pack of these 100 cards for $10 at the card store. I went up to the card store, bought one and could'nt wait to get home and try this cool looking game out. I opened the case up and saw these uber good cards like Craw Wurm, Fireball, Disintegrate and a bunch of other Revised commons/uncommons. I read the rule book, and tried this cool game out. Everytime I cast something I would put the land into my graveyard, figuring that once the mana was used the land was gone and I'm like "WTF, how the hell do I get more mana now?". I was officially baffled. About a year later I met another guy that got into the game and we figured the game out together and it all made sense, except we had no fucking clue, as we soon found out. We go to a small tournament and I pack the most UBER good deck I could. I vaguely remember Wall of Brambles and Urzatron land. Well, I start my 1'st game with a Urzatron land and cast wall of brambles. Then my opponent says "Dude, you can't do that, it's colourles mana and Wall takes Green" and I'm going "Huh? Why cant I cast the wall, this mana gives me ANY colour I want" and then he explained the whole colourless v.s coloured mana thing to me and I smacked myself. I proceed to get my ass kicked and low and behold, I win the consellation prize of an Ice Age starter pack, YAY!!!! After that I never had much of a chance to play with anybody seriously until I started hanging out at the local card show a few years later, about 3 years ago. I then played in the Planeshift Pre-Release and proceeded to get my ass kicked there as well, of course I thought I was good when I played my girlfriend cause I always beat her. This is when getting competitive started. Within the 1'st couple months I got to know everybody who was somebody at the shop and actually formed good relationships with them. Alot of them would trade me stuff and just say I owed them x amount of dollars worth of cards or cash, and I could pay them when I had the money/cards. This is when the collection started to get bigger. I wasted shitloads of money playing Draft, and constructed mostly still never doing all that great in constructed, but always doing somewhat good in draft. I always did good in the local pre-releases though, placing top 8 in the next 3 (Apocalypse, Odyssey, Torment). I came 2'nd in one of them, 3'rd in another and 7'th in the other. Can't remember which was which though. Then came my first tournament win. I read inquest and seen something about Worldgorger Dragon being Animated with Animate Dead and built the deck from there. I got up to the shop and showed the Judge (A good friend of mine) and he laughed and said there was another guy playing it as well. He gave me a few pointers about the deck contents and the matchups began. Round 1,2,3: I won them all Round 4: Draw with the guy playing the mirror Quarter Finals: Win Semis: Win Finals: Shit. It's the other Dragon player, surprise I lose game 1 due to a stupid play mistake. Never cast Entomb on your turn, putting a Dragon in your Graveyard, when playing against another Dragon deck. DAMN!!!!! Games 2-3 I destroy him I won another extended tournament with a Tradewinmd rider deck a few weeks later, owning Sligh in the finals with Chill. The only guy that could have put me out of that tournament was the guy that actually beat me 2-1 then gave it to me anyways cause he had to leave. BooYa!! Then I bought both a Mox Jet ($150) and a Mox Sapphire ($175). This is where my story gets sad. I played type 1 for awhile but decided at that point it was going to be too expensive to play and traded my Moxen away for about $650-$700 worth of extended cards. I then bought a Black Lotus ($250) and a few months later I decided Magic was not the way to go and sold all of my stuff including the Lotus. Now, fast forward to about 3-4 months ago. I realize I can make some money on Ebay and start selling my leftover cards that I had, as well as a complete foil set of Apocalypse. This is when (after I sold the last of my good stuff) I decided I wanted to start playing again. So now not only was I looking to buy cards to play with in my decks, I decided that since I make decent money now ($14.75/hr rather than the $10.50/hr I was making before) I wanted to play type 1. Great choice. Price drives me away before, so I go with the most expensive format when I start playing again. Anyways, I have probably spent close to $2000 in the last 3-4 months to get my collection rolling again. Now all I need is very few of the smaller cards (Tolarian Academy, Mana Crypt and still need 24 Duals) and I need Power, Drains and the biggest stuff. And now, here I am. I bet you think this is the end of my already long intro eh? Well, it's not. Current decks: Meandeck SX, MeanDeath, Doomsday, Control Slaver, Stax. I bet you think this is the end as well Eh???? Guess what, it is. P.S. sorry for the super long ass history, but once I start, I can't stop.

Probably about time I did this... Name: John L. Age: 19 Loc: Birmingham, Michigan... the real OC  I started in Tempest, quit at Masques block, and picked the game up again at Legions. I started playing Type One when Tog left Type 2... so I guess that was around the 8th release. I've owned a couple power cards, and have won a couple mid sized Vintage tournaments, but I don't play much anymore. I've devoted a lot of time to extended this season, and got 10th at the last Detroit PTQ. I'm very good at draft and decent at sealed. Type One is the format I enjoy the most though, especially when I get to proxy power and play combo. I don't really care if I'm winning as long as I'm playing combo or Tog . Hopefully, I'll complete my set of power when my financial situation picks up, which should be by the end of summer. I also collect German cards... I have like 1000+ from various sets. I play on MWS sometimes... PM me if you want a game or hit me on the AIM MasenkoJTK. -John

My name is Kerri (Yes I am a female)
I am the fiance of Aaron or Orgcandman the guy that posted the tapes of Waterbury and for any one that was there I'm the girl that was behind the camera all day.
I've been playing magic off and on for about 7 years though I never had my own cards or any good ideas until 2 years ago when Aaron retaught me how to play. I'm still not that good at the game and unfortunitly I enjoy building the decks more than playing them. And seeing as I don't really own many cards I've come up with some interesting yet all to often bad combinations. I'm getting better I think.
I'll be at the April Waterbury behind a camera yet again so if you're there and want to say hi I'll probably appreciate a break for a little to say hi back.

Name- Matt Dunne Occupation- Long suffering high school student Age- 15 Loc- Australia, land of big rocks and high temperatures Interests- MUSIC, magic, warcraft 3 and anything funky.
I started playing when Onslaught was realesed, about 2 years ago. After visiting a real store I became a hardcore casual play, why play a polluted delta when a Glorious anthem can make your 1/1's 2/2's!!!?? After an old magic player moved back into town he showed me the righteous path of type 1 (this was after my repeated bitching about ravager), I started, lacking anything good at all, for me even forces where out of reach. However once I started coming online it all became easier. I stil lack power, drains and 5 blue duals, but we are getting there. I play a version of eastmans cerebral assasin and I call it the pile! Currently I am looking for bazaars.

My name is Dennis van Opijnen. I'm 21 years old and my addiction to Magic started around 1995. Since then it's been my worst addiction ever. I've tried to quit a couple of times, but now I even spend less on my other addictions (I love Holland ), just so that I can keep buying cards. For a long time my favorite format was the old Extended where you could still use duals. Last year I moved to Leiden (near Amsterdam) to study World Religions at the university here. I originally come from Middelburg, but there isn't much of a (Vintage) tournament scene there, so I was happy to find out about the Vintage tournaments in Leiden, Castricum and Eindhoven. I started to upgrade my collection to Vintage standards somewhere last year. I already owned most lower-end staples, such as playsets of all duals and Force of Will and the like. Now I'm still not quite there yet, but I like where my collection is going. I now also have a playset of Mana Drains, a Library of Alexandria, and 3 of the power 9. (Black Lotus, Ancestral Recall and Time Walk). I'm still impatiently waiting for my tax refund, so I'll be able to buy two or three Moxen. Unfortunately I haven't found any playtest partners here yet. The Magic scene at my fraternity is quite disappointing. Most people there have been playing for quite a long time, and quite a few of them own some power. Despite that, the format is extremely casual. Things like shadow and burn to the dome are banned. Most decks I see are Highlander Vintage piles with 200-something cards. That's just not my kind of Magic. So for now, I'm still doing all my testing on MWS. I haven't been to a Vintage tournament yet, but that time is coming, soon. A couple of weeks ago I started doing my own metagame analysis of the Dutch tournaments, trying to accomplish what Philip Stanton does for the rest of the world. Unfortunately I'm not able to analyze the metagame as well as I'd like to, mostly because of a severe lack of data other than T8 decklists. Another factor is the ability of some Dutch players, who're also here on TMD, to finish well with unconventional decks, which has caused me severe headaches. I dislike the use of proxies, so my current decks of choice are semi-powered Oath or Tog. I can't remember the last time I playtested with real cards, so it's definately time to get in some real practice. After nearly a decade of sucking at Magic and never winning any Magic tournament in my life, I discovered TMD at the beginning of last year, and now I'm preparing myself to take on the Dutch Vintage tournament scene.

Well many of you know me as the knife slinging, ipod kickin, shades equipped Vintage style kid. I'm a control player at heart but have been tampering with combo, I know alot of magic players and try to get my name out there. I'm tryin to work up for title of Vintage Pimp, and many of you know me via my accessory girlfriend complete with cookies and or some other baked good. If you see Andy Probasco or Ben Kowal chances are im right there with them, I am part of a team thats trying to monopolize on all the New England players, and we've begun our grip. Fear me! /roar

I play it online too, using Magic Workstation, but nothing compares playing irl...
I wish someone who could help me at the forum until i get pratice to it, cuz Iดve already found a problem at the Humor topics: i canดt find the Reply button...
And if I remenber anything else, Iดm gonna add it here, so cya guys...

Hey, my name is Brian DeMars and I'm a 4th year English student at the University of Michigan, and I've been playing Type 1 since, well, before there was even a Type 2. I live in Michigan and play Type 1 regularly at RIW hobbies (Where I work, and am also sponsored by), and Pandemonium. I am a member of the Vintage Avant-Garde, and play pretty much every format of M:tg that there is. However, Vintage has always been my favorite, mainly because of the great nostalgic aspect it has. My favorite card ever printed is Time Walk, because I believe that Amy Weber is the greatest illustrator in the history of the game. Other than that, U/W is my favorite color combination to play; so if any of you guys ever draft with me, chances are, I'll probably cut you off from blue or white.
Cheers, Brian

here's as good as any other place to get into tmd.com i guess... Name: Giles Emery Age: 21 Location: Melbourne, Australia Started 'playing' in Ice Age when i bought a single starter deck and just read the gametext to myself (Scaled Wurm? OMG!). Just played stupid casual decks in highschool with sengir vamp beatdown. Sold up around Torment to a uni friend. About a year or so ago i decided to start up competitive Type 1...since then i've met some cool people locally, and made some friends from overseas (Hi Dozer! ) while being able to finish in the money for my past couple of tournaments. I'm always interested in broadening the T1 scene here in Melbourne, and i'm always interested in becoming a better player so i can pay off my Power 9 debts with tournament proceeds! Outside of MtG, i play bass and electric guitar, i study law, i pretend to go to the gym, and collect various sorts of mindblowing chilli products. I started my competitive career with Trinistax, and i am currently playing Gothslaver.

Name: Edwin (Eddie) Tracy Age: 29 Occupation: Engineer at Intel Location: Hillsboro, OR Favorite Color: Blue Favorite Card: Timetwister Power Owned: Lotus, Sapphire, Jet, Emerald, Ruby, Pearl, Timetwister, 4 drains, Library, all blue duals Started Playing MTG: Alliances Favorite format's: Type 1, "Vintage" Current decks: Slaver USA, Jushi Explosion, Sushi MTG History:Used to live in Chico California. Got into MTG tournaments and quickly moved to the Type 1 scene. Got smashed for the first year, then started learning the format and building up cards. I collected my first set of power 9 in unlimited, then moved to Beta eventually. At my "high point" in Type one, I had it all. Beta power 9, Library of A, Juzam Djinn, 40 duals (10 were beta), 4 english drains, 2 moats, 1 mirror, 1 Abyss, 2 Candelabra of Tawnos, and TONS of cards in their original forms like 4 Arabian Knight Ernahm, Serendib, tons of Beta cards like Tutor, Serra's, Sol Ring, etc etc. I spent about 2k after all the buying and selling gathering my collection. I sold my collection on Ebay 5 years ago for $4000 to a guy named Jeff McCardel that I wish I could locate. I recently priced out the current value of that old collection to be around $25k. To bad I did not keep it. I sold my cards because I needed college rent money, and because I played Everquest. On Everquest I played a magician named Eandori and actually became very well known across all servers due to my presense on internet message boards. A few years ago, I got married to my wonderful wife who quickly ushered Everquest out of my life, no more Eandori but the name lives on. After Everquest was gone, I started getting back into Magic. I currently have worked myself back up to quite a few good Vintage cards and I really need my last 2 blue of the P9. I have used my Ebay account under the same name "Eandori" to sell the collection I still had to pay for my current power. I sold 26 Force of wills, duals, tons of stuff. I'm absolutely a control player, but I love trying to break cards or try out new innovative decks. As for the tournament scene, I was well known in Chico as one of the top players for many years at the local tournaments. I won tons of local tournaments in all formats, but no big tournaments like PTQ or anything. Hardly ever played in those. One of my claim to fames was actually playing "The Deck" against the creator himself. Brian Weissman. I had the full deck, entirely black border and real. He was playing the same thing... but unsleeved... This was around Visions time frame. I'm always up to playing Type 1 with other people in my area. Proxies are cool with me. Later.

Well, I might as well make a post here as I've been lurking for the last couple of days.
Name: Remy Suen Age: 19 Favourite Colour: Black Location: Waterloo, Ontario Playing Since: Onslaught #TheManaDrain Handle: Xirzen
I started playing about two and a half years ago when our school started a Magic club. My first deck was a the GR precon from Odyssey block. I later ran an elf deck, and then a black control. I have a blue control deck now with a full set of drains and forces with three morphlings. I don't have any fetchlands though, as strange as that may seem. I'm currently getting the pieces together to play Psychatog.

Name: Kelsey Weeks (guy) Age: 17 Location: Visalia, California Favorite Color: GREEN! Occupation: The crapshoot that is high school I started playing Magic around when Masques came out, boy was that a bad set. I then proceeded to buy Masques, Prophecy, and Nemesis packs instead of Urza packs when they were still cheap. Man that was stupid. My area doesn't have any Vintage tournaments except for like 3 times a year and that's like an FNM scene, no power or anything snazzy involved which sucks. So I'm forced to travel to areas like L.A. and Berkeley to play my Vintage. Going to my first Vintage tournament on June 19th at Eudemonia. I am forced to play the blah that is Standard at my local store, with some Extended mixed in.

Hi there, I'm not really new to this forum, but posting only since today so I thought I might as well introduce myself: My name is Richard Drijvers, aka RichardD, 26 years old from Tilburg, the Netherlands. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I'm currently working as an Engineer. I've been playing MtG since the release of Fourth Edition and have been playing T1 since before Legacy was created. Which is the reason why I wander here. I'm also a level 3 DCI certified judge and have been for about 3 years now. Next to judge I'm a Tournament Organiser aswell, I even used to be Country Coordinator for The Netherlands in 2008. I collect all Magic cards with artwork from Rob Alexander. The 2 most prominent ones that are missing are an Alpha Taiga and an Alpha Savannah. (I'd love some help in obtaining a mint version of those.) I don't think I have much more to say, but if you want to know more PM me or read my Livejournal, which I haven't updated in ages.
