Hey everyone!
I'm Peter, AKA Sal the Carp.  I am not related to any of the Carp family from Wisconsin, although I am from Wisconsin.  I live in Madison and I am one of the founding members of Team IceHole.  I started playing Magic while Revised was out and I might have even missed the release of Legends just because I wasn't paying attention.  I started following tournament level Vintage last year.  I had basically retired from magic in 1998 after winning a small tournament, but now I'm back to play, and I finally caught on to how good fetchlands are.  I like to compete, but I'm still mainly in it for fun.  I'd rather pull off 8th place with something weird than first place with some ripoff deck.
I also play in the band Library Donut, work full time and go to school.
And that's me in a nutshell.

Hey guys,

My name is Kemper (no joke) and i live in Virginia.  I am only 14 so forgive b/c my writing skills aren't completely honed in.  I've only been playing magic for about 4 years.  I love Magic, especially Vintage.  I thoroughly despise Type II and Legacy formats.

I am not exactly a new member here, but I do tend to depart for long enough that a re-introduction is necessary.

I first started playing MTG around combo winter.  My favorite deck types are combo and prison, although I'll play pretty much anything.  (Old) Extended used to be my favorite format, but that has since changed to Legacy (for obvious reasons).

I was around during the BDominia days as either Daimao or dai, but my posting was really minimal (mainly just lurked).  Some of you may better remember me by the name Naraku.  I played with Zherbus and co a lot during the MTGO beta test.  Those multiplayer games we had were epic and a lot of fun.  I became a regular on the TMD channel and did my usual disappearing acts as I took breaks from the game.  This is the first time I have really done anything on the site itself, though.  I was best known for my jank combo decks.

You can just call me "dai".

greeting everyone.

I am an old face with an old name, though right around the time I disappeared I was not playing as much serious magic and was not overly popular with some of the powers that be. Still, I have stayed in touch with a large number of magic players, in particular the michigan magic crowd and their canadian adversaries, and I have not at any point entirely quit.

I just picked up some stuff again and have been reading up, testing and learning many new things to try and get back into the swing of things. April 29th will be the first tournament I play that I tested or prepared a deck for in about two years, sort of my return to the magic world.

So I am taking a moment to say hello, broadcast my presence and test the waters a bit. Hopefully I will find a little bit of what I loved so much about vintage in the first place.

Hey guys.

Name is Josh, Live in California, U.S.

I am a college student who was introduced to the game about 6 months ago, though I am a VERY competitive gamer in all things considered 'Games' I have a very addictive sensation to those games I like, i've spent about $700 in cards now with 7 decks, i've had a lot of fun building them and will continue to.

I was over at the SCG forum but I find this forum considerably more active/organized.

Hope to contribute what I can, and always, learn!

Didn't know that there was a thread like this in TMD. lol

I'm Gio from Manila, Philippines and am one of the regular vintage players. One of the fish players in the local Manila Metagame.

Been playing for about 11 years now (started when Revised was now stopped printing). Played a little bit then stopped when Visions came out, then came back when Torment came out. Had a hard time to find the cards that I sold way back then in 1998.

I check out TMD for tourney reports especially ones by Dave Feinstein (really entertaining).

Always willing to learn more and gain more ideas.  Smile

Hello,

I'm an old french magic player. I beggin to play thirteen years ago with fallen empire. My first deck is a weenie black and my brother a weenie white. But his f...ing wrath of god kill me too many time... So i change my deck optical with a BU discard. I had got so few money, so i took a little break. With fortress, My discard deck became better and better. But again because of money, I had stopped in 1998 with exodus.

During a long time, my cards slept into their cards collector books. My brother, in the same time creat a vintage deck that i couldn't win... And, Magic has been developped on the net. I have discovered it last summer in 2006. With all my old cards i'm going into the legacy format. and I beggin to deal cards by postmail.
Now i have a good collection of cards and I'm trainning to play lot of deck, in particularly Combo decks and combo-control decks.
If i go here, it's to have another point of view than the french one. I hope you will help me (as i hope help you if i have some idea) and i hope you will be understanding with my grammar mistakes  Wink.

See you soon.

Hello all.
My name is Nation and I live in Colorado, US.
I've been playing magic off and on since 2001.

I was big into 5-color for a while until the 5C community here declined when the host store closed.
I have tried to stay up to date with Standard, but don't have the money to keep buying new stuff.

I attend all the prereleases and do occasional other limited events, but have otherwise been out of magic for a while. I recently decided to give Vintage and Legacy a chance, since there are occasionally proxy vintage tournies around, and I can afford the investment to get going in Legacy.

I've been a lurker here for around half a year now, never felt like I've had a lot to say so I never have, but now I'm starting to become much more active in the tournament scene, so I figured it'd be a good time to start posting.

My name's Nick, I live in Connecticut about 45 minutes away from Stratford, so I intend on being a regular participant at the TMDs from here on out. I've been playing competitive MtG for about two years now, mostly Limited and Standard, but I've recently gotten into both Legacy and Vintage, as they're the only formats where I can play with the older cards. I don't consider myself an incredible player, but I believe that I can play tightly enough to keep up with the better players at any given event.

Hope to see you guys at some T1 events.

Well, hi everybody !

I'm Le Pougnezu, from Paris, (I added "Le" because every french stuff has "Le" in it, right?), which also means that I'm future-shifted 7-9 hours from you guys. I started buying Magic in 1994, and started serious playing during the Necro Summer.
I've stoppend everything Magic at Mercadian Masques, and started again maybe a couple weeks ago. Browsing on the web I found so many insane decks containing so many insane cards (displaying so many ugly designs, but nobody cares about card design).
The vintage environment appeared to be so deep, stimulating and complex that I definetely want to go straight to deckbuilding.

In real life I'm a hydrogen physicist, i.e. lots of calculations, statistics, and coffee, which also implies that I'm attracted to decks that have amounts of reflection behind them, and display vast arrays of gameplay opportunities.

I've proxified Long, Stax, ControlSlaver, and chose to focus on Long-type decks. By the way I don't know exactly what Long stands for.
See you soon (maybe) on development topics, and please forgive my grammatical and basic writing errors.

Hi!

After a few months of lurking I found some courage to register and try to start becoming a bit more part of this forum. It seems that here I might find what I lost 8 years ago when I was playing MTG in some kind of competitive way.

My name is Alvaro and I live in Spain, English is not my first language so from now on I beg your pardon if you see some kind of misspelling or wrong grammar. I've got some decent English level, but I'm sure it will not avoid me from drive you mad with my constructions and vocabulary. (I'll happily accept any kind of correction if it's purpose is to improve my English level).

Just nice to start becoming part of such a site like this one is, a bit concerned about the level is being expected from it's users and really worried about all those abreviations you use that makes me go mental  Wink.

Ready to go.

Greetings

Alvaro

Well, I have been reading this site for years and am now registering for an account.  I became interested in vintage after the dual lands rotated out of extended and started picking up power and other staples.  Three years ago I moved to Grand Rapids, MI, and could not find any interest in the format, so I unloaded the most expensive parts of my collection.  I picked up the game again about a year and a half ago after reading more about Legacy.

Hi everyone.

I don't play vintage or legacy anymore, but I still follow along!  You can find me on MTGO though, playing the one and only eternal format there.

Hi,

I haven't played magic for about a decade, but my brother just sucked me back in.  I live in China currently so I can only play on MWS really.

Also it took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to make my first post.  Quite annoying.

Hi, I am Arvin Jay Cando and I am from Makati, Philippines. I started playing competitively during the Odyssy Block. I made Phil Nationals 2003 and helped Judge the 2005 Phil Nationals.

Right now, I am an avid Vintage player and I belong to a local team here in Manila, TX. I have been playing Meandeck Gifts since Sep 2006 and have some success, getting a couple of Top8 Finishes and 2Final appearances (but never the champion! lost both times to Oath). Our local monthly vintage tournaments usually attract 30-50 players. I will be organizing the Vintage Tournaments in our area starting June, and I hope to post the results once I am given Tournament Organizer status.  Smile

More power!

My name is Nicholas; I'm one of the current Events Coordinators here at Star City Games.

I've been a judge since 2004, and certified Level 2 back in December of 2005. Since then, I've attended a handful of Grand Prix, US Nationals ('06 and, in two months. '07), and Pro Tour Charleston '06. I'm also a trainer, which means that I can give out the Level 1 judge exam.

Whenever I'm not judging, I'm working at SCG. Whenever I'm doing neither of those, I'm either playing WoW or sleeping. I'll be trying to help out in the rules forums; anyone needing help with something in that area is more than welcome to contact me at any time. I'd be more than happy to help.

Nice to meet you all.

Hi there. My name is Enrique and i live in Newcastle, UK, where eternal formats are only some kind of myth. About five years ago i used to be an experienced standard/block format player but quit Magic just when WotC introduced that horrendous new layout. Now, although it happened at the same time, the new layout was not the reason i quit playing but leaving behind my Magic collection when i moved to the UK for postgrad studies. After a couple of years of a healthy lifestyle where procrastination from studies would only involve constructive activities like cinema, playing music or reading books i came across an article of the 2005 Legacy Championship by Zvi Mowshowitz where he presented a fairly archaic decklist of what now is known as Solidarity, which i found quite interesting as, just for fun, i had been working on a High Tide deck before leaving Magic. So one thing led to another and i suddenly found myself reading Legacy and Vintage articles/forums from time to time, and then more often. Next thing i knew i was downloading Apprentice and MWS. You see, Magic is like herpes: once you get it you'll never get rid of it. Last year i was back home in good old Mexico and while browsing through my old belongings for the first time in years i inevitably found my cards. My girlfriend was less than pleased to learn i'd be taking them back with me... ok, not all of them, but a decent selection to get myself back in the game. The only problem is that, as i said before, i seem to be the only person in the whole Northeast England who knows what Tendrils of Agony is  Sad ... I think i'll have to move to Germany. Anyway, cheers!

'lo. My name is Matt. I've been lurking for a while, and I finally decided to register. I started playing around Urza's Saga, left about when Prophecy came out, then have slowly been getting back in since Time Spiral. I have an unnatural hatred for counterspells and generally refuse to play blue. I guess one would call me a Timmy-Spike. I want to win, but not with Islands. Basically, the card that most symbolizes my preferred form of play would be Pain // Suffering. I don't play in many tournaments, mainly drafts when I do. Casually, my collection and my friends' fit into Legacy best, so we tend to play that.

Hello. I'm Dave and I live in Northern California. I've been playing Magic since Legends, competitive Magic for about a year, but I'm new to Vintage. Just when I started getting the cards together (I'd have been under 10 proxies by weeks end!) they go and restrict my all-time favorite card, Gifts Ungiven. Time to pick a new deck to play in-between rounds of draft.

Hullo, I was dipping my hand into Legacy one afternoon on MWS and someone refereed me here after we played some fun rounds. This place turned out to be really awsome, and since then I've started to love legacy (although I probably have no hope to own most of these cards =)  )

What's up, my name is Josh.  I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I've been playing Magic competitively since I moved here in 2003.  I recently opened up a manadrain account last week and wanted to introduce myself.  I mostly play vintage, but I try and play FNM when I can.
