Hey everyone. I'm Scott, from Boston, Mass. I played casually during Onslaught block, then quit because I was tired of getting my ass kicked playing my 150 card mono green beast deck. I came back a few months before the release of Ravnica and starting reading articles and forums to overcome my noob suckiness. After a while playing much better casual decks and drafting with friends, my brother got interested in Legacy, and since I already had a set of FoW's and got a great deal on 10 Sea Drakes, I decided I'd build myself Faerie Stompy. Since then, I've been purely a Legacy player as far as tournaments are concerned. I spend way too much time every day over on The Source.
Vintage has intrigued me for a while, but I just starting playing it about 2 weeks ago when I stumbled upon the announcement for ELD's Mox Sapphire tourney in the forums. I decided I'd give the format a shot, since with 15 proxies I could build basically any deck for under $100. So here I am, with my first tourney in a couple days, and I couldn't be more excited for it.
The few TMDers I've met on MWS have been immensely kind and helpful to me, someone new to the format, and have happily offered all sorts of advice. Thanks oneofchaos and kelme.

Hi, my name is Maarten, I am from Holland. I've been introduced to Magic by my brother, at the time Exodus was released. Have been playing mostly casual since then, although I have played some local Vintage tourneys, mostly in Hengelo (a small town in the eastern part of Holland). No recent tourneys though, the last one was almost a year ago. Work has been keeping me rather busy lately...
I've also been a longtime lurker here on TMD.

My name is Nick, and I mostly play Standard. I watched a few people play games of Vintage at a FNM last year, and I've liked it since. I live in NJ, and my favorite colours in MTG are Black, Blue, and Green.
I started playing two years ago.

Hello my name is Florian, and I'm from the Netherlands. I started playing Magic the Gathering in legions block and quickly build my tournament deck (sort of), a beast deck. Around fifth dawn i switched to a U/G control deck and never looked back on aggro. Shortly after that i builded a 150 card mono blue highlander to compete at the local highlander tournaments. At around the last set of Kawigawa i quit Magic the Gathering due to time and frustration in the game (largely caused by Raffinity). During Future Sight i started playing again and started building a lot of U/x Control decks for standard. Currently i want to start to play legacy.
I do have one question tho, whats an somewhat budget deck but still good legacy deck is?

Hello. My name is Jerry Yang. I've played Magic since 1995 but have only started to attempt to play competitively, in Type 1/Vintage, since October 2006. I'm from the Cleveland, Ohio area. I'm not sure what else to put in this kind of message.

Well I'm going to start by saying I started playing during Champions of Kamigawa block which makes me a very new magic player. I have a very competitive attitude though and have been reading the mana drain since I started tournaments in type 2 and legacy. I admire Bardo, Vroman, Smennen, and Feinstein for their theories and advancements of the vintage and legacy formats. I hope the community will enjoy my posts as much as I have enjoyed reading theirs.

Hello, my name is John. I have been playing vintage/ type 1 since Weatherlight. I quit after Prophecy, and came back right after Mirrodin was realeased. I am primarily a combo player, I began with Dragon, then Deathlong/ Meandeath, and have played some variation of 5 color Grimlong since the legalization of portal, with no intention of stopping in the near future. On occasion you might catch me playing Ichorid, but I can never go for too long without my rituals. I am one of the founding (and only) members of Team Spearmint Rhino (along with mutedequilibrium) in southern california. I have lurked the drain for years now, and decided that it was finally time to post and get some support for the southern california Vintage metagame.

Hi! I'm Alex K. I'm from NYC. I've played magic since Stronghold and first began playing Vintage about three years ago, although I haven't done much with it other than playing with some of my friends. I'd love to get some other people together for some T1 at Neutral ground, so if your interested you can email me at akeinath@regis-nyc.org I'm also looking for one more Bazaar of Baghdad, so if anyone in the area is interested in selling one, let me know as well. Long Live T1!

hi, i'm jake. i originally started playing mtg right after arabian nights came out, and then stopped around '97. i've picked it up again a few times and a friend of mine recently got me interested again. i've always preferred playing t1 since it doesn't change as quickly and doesn't require buying tons of new cards a few times a year. i'm in san diego so if you or somebody you know plays around here (i searched through the board history and didn't find anything useful) let me know as i'd like to do some non-internet playing sometime.

Soup, TMD? lol... My name is Charles Scott-Spain. (PltnmNgl on all magic boards) I live in Raleigh, NC and plan on moving to Seattle, WA pretty soon. I've been lurking around for not too long and decided to join. I write articles and compete every once in a while, but I mainly just help noobs win their own little metagames. I have been focusing on Legacy at the moment, but I just got into Vintage. Believe it or not, (and I may sound like a pure noob for this) but it was the appeal of Manaless Ichorid that caught my eye. Anyway, if you want to check out my blog, it's http://discipleofthealt.blogspot.com/

Hi,
My name is Kevin, I just started playing vintage over the last 6 months. I used to play a lot when I was younger but I stopped in the late 90's and picked it up again about a 2 years ago. I live in Chicago and am always looking to find people in the area that play vintage.

Hi TMD,
I am actually pleasantly pleased to recently have found this community; a mature, online magic community -- who would have guessed. I have been playing magic since around 1996; however, due to a fairly fast track through college and graduate school, I have little time to attend tournaments. I am hoping to rectify this at Gencon 2008. I am currently a Professor in a tenure track position in Statistics, and I absolutely love the deck building aspect of MtG, with most of my love given to the underlying combinatorics problem that is the game. My personal preference is to try to incorporate previously thought unworkable cards into a viable deck.
Best, Doug

Hi TMD and the community,
Im chingpaq from Manila Philippines. Vintage Player by heart. 31 years of age. Started late and got to play only during Ice Age. Hoping to be a contributor here in TMD and share some of Magic Philippines (though its quite different here since most tournies here are DCI sanctioned... thus a more budget environment though equally as innovative as with the proxy-powered environment). Im a fan of Stax and FCG.

Hi everyone. My name is Mitch and I live in Northern California. I stumbled upon this site today and I'm very glad to have found it! I used to play magic when i was younger (the last set I remember purchasing a pack for was Fallen Empires .... yeah it's been a while) and after taking over ten years offI have the itch to play again. Surprisingly, after not playing a game of magic for over a decade, I haven't forgotten how to play at all. I have been reading articles and purchasing cards for a deck I want to build so if anyone knows of any Vintage tourneys in Nor Cal please let me know!! Thanks , Mitch

Good Morning America, How are you? Umm I am not your long lost son but I am a relatively new magic player. I started just after Lorwyn hit and have been playing mostly type ii until this past weekend. Vintage is WAY better. I am a student and a father, my son is one year old and walking. I am writing this the day after the red rings of doom hit my 360 so I am a gamer but won't be gaming for awhile. I am going to school to be a teacher. Umm I sound pretty boring but me is me and now you know me. Oh you can call me nicholas since I am about to sign this that way anyway. Nicholas

Hiya, name is Tim. First played Magic back in the revised era, took a long break. Played Magic Online at launch and for about a year. Took a break. Picked Magic Online up again right around Coldsnap. Started getting back into paper recently.
I've at this point played 5 matches of Vintage going 2-3 at the Type One side event at GP Philly. Played Flash as I figured it was best deck to play with limited (or as it turned out, zero) practice. Interested in getting into both Vintage and Legacy, play Classic online. I also like cubeing, limited, EDH, and pretty much all Magic the Gathering.
I sometimes play decks without blue in them, this is a bad thing. Clearly decks with blue>decks without blue.

Hi I'm James and have been playing Magic since revised was out in 95. I missed unlimited by one summer, which I still feel bad about, since I was a competetive player right from the beginning and would have gotten at least a few sets of power nine right away. I took a break from magic since I had my daughter, but she's a little bigger now and I'm starting to get back to my hobbies, magic being a big one of them. I am hosting Magic meetups/game nights for Southeast Michigan. They will start small and hopefully grow from there. All are welcome and the main page to sign up is at http://mtg.meetup.com/321/It's at a local coffee house in Roseville, MI. Anyways, if anyone in the area ever wants to play I'd be happy to come out and bring a few decks. I play vintage or legacy.

Hello everyone,
My name is Justin, and I've been playing MtG on and off with two casual playgroups since '95.
I recently took over running Dear Mr. Fantazy, a card shop in Orange, CA. I have never been a tournament player, so I am learning a lot more about the game right now. I am very interested in both the T2 and T1 games, and I'm working on my first Type 2 deck to play with my friends and customers.
I will be organizing and hosting tournaments Thur, Fri and Sat nearly every week for anyone interested in the southern California area. I hope to to use TMD to post the relevant tourney info, as well as a tool for learning more about the in depth strategies used in the various formats.
Thanks,
Justin

I'm a T1 unspo player (no money no party...), I started with Ravnica and after 1 year I fell in love with T1. Hope I'll have a good experience here! Byebye!

Hello everyone!
My name is Seth Zulinski, and while I have apparently been registered to TMD since 2005, I just recently discovered this fact again. I have lurked here for quite some time, and consider myself generally knowledgable upon the subject on T1 (though with plenty of room for improvement). I am currently nineteen-turning-twenty, and working at Rosetta Stone and any number of other part time jobs (mostly bookstores) in Delaware (around the Wilmington and Newark areas). I started playing magic back in the glorious fourth grade I believe, when my grandfather and I were looking for a new game since two-player Dungeons and Dragons was less than stellar. In a Toys'R'Us of all things, we beheld a game entitled Portal, or so I believed. We took it home, opened it up, and I have been hooked ever since (though I was player 2, which is to say I lost - yet not without a fight!). I blame this for my Control penchant, as casting Time Ebb on a Grizzly Bears was one of the better feelings of my life. My first "real" experience came from a store named Between Books, where a R/W weenie precon me to several weeks of dubious pseudo-victory. I dropped out for awhile, but came back full-force in the Mirrodin era, simultaneously piloting T2 Ravager Affinity and T1 budget Control Slaver (with maindeck Juggernaughts to thwart the other Slaver. Ha!). I've been playing ever since, avoiding any decent placings sadly due to lack of a real testable Vintage metagame in Delaware. I believe my highest placing was at a New York SCG at 34th, with a deck improperly labeled Control Slaver by SCG. I have finally managed to let go of Keeper/4c, though it has and always will have a special place in my heart.
Currently I am between schools, working a part-time job or two, and generally keeping my head above water. If anyone is in the neighborhood of DE and needs a place to recoup and relax a little, feel free to drop me a line. usually you can find my ideas and critiques on the WizO boards, as I just do not have the real life experience to confidently post here (yet). Any ideas or comments you want to shoot by me, however, I will more than gladly go over and offer my ideas upon.
When I see you, may I see you well -
Seth Zulinski a.k.a. Worldslayer

My name is Jon.
I started playing magic around beta/unlimited and quit around Alliances. I recently started up again around Morningtide.
I mostly play type I running GAT or Oath.
I run a ravager deck for Legacy and merfolk in type II
I do proxies/alterations for people which gives me a headache.
I am usually short and to the point.
