I'm a longtime lurker here and started playing Magic in '94 (sometime between Legends and the Dark). However, I've only really played Magic for a handful of the past 20 years and I've sold all my cards and bought back in a few times. What really brought me back this time is the diversity and stability of eternal formats. The VSL, So Many Insane Plays podcast, and this forum have all convinced me that Vintage is truly worth my time. I'm looking forward to learning more about the best format in Magic.

Hi. I'm Itzhak, mostly a chess player. I find the similarities interesting: knowing what your role is: attack or defend, controlling different parts of the board. Chess does this in a strictly geometric way, Magic does it differently. The lack of perfect information is well-used by the game to make things happen which in chess are not viable. Magic's ideas of control, card advantage are very interesting abstract concepts to consider.

Hi there,
My name is Laurence, I'm from the UK and I have recently returned to playing magic (last week) after a 15 year gap. I originally played from spring 94 to summer 99, mostly competitive play (local events, UK GenCon and a couple of Nationals at the Birmingham NEC). I still have a substantial amount of what now seem to be very valuable cards which I'm hoping to part convert into digital equivalent so that I can get back into competitive play again. This site is obviously making some positive waves as the first three people I bumped into during my first vintage daily recommended it as "the" resource for vintage theory crafting and from what I've read so far I can see why. Hope to get to know some of you a bit better and the game (have a lot to catch up on!).
Thanks

Hello,
My name is John, I live in a small town in West Texas (meaning I play more MTGO and less paper than I would like) and have been playing Magic since Onslaught, took a break and picked it up competitively with Innistrad. I started playing limited but got sucked into eternal formats (Legacy/Vintage to a lesser extent Modern) my first eternal format deck was Legacy Manaless Dredge and I have been building my paper and online collections, as well as my play skill with the archetype. Started playing vintage when the power came out on MTGO and have toyed around with Mono-U Belcher, Shops, and but have returned to my roots with Dredge.

Hi,
My name is Sullivan, I go to college in Philly. I opened a few packs as a kid of mirrodin, unhinged, and kamigawa, but got back into magic around dark ascension. I got legacy LED dredge for my birthday, started casting cabal therapy, and never stopped. I've messed around with SI, PSI, ANT, TES, nic fit, dredge(led, manaless, and blue manaless). I bought in on bazaars at Eternal Weekend 2013 and have since foiled out the rest of the deck, and play the format whenever I can.

Hi, I'm Dan. I played Magic from Revised through Homelands, and then mostly didn't until M13. I only played Limited until a coworker talked me into watching season one of the VSL, and now I play Limited and Vintage I play in proxy-only paper events at work, and bought in to MTGO over the holidays. You can find me in Tournament Practice on MTGO a couple nights a week, lately playing UR Delver (like everyone, it seems).

Hi! My name is Anne Frits. I'm 32 years old and live in the Netherlands. I started playing Magic at the time of the Urza block and stopped after Apocalypse. Then rediscovered the game when Future Sight came out. It was the time of Flash and Meandeck Tendrils. It was also the time I started playing Vintage. At first I tried some unpowered combo-decks (wich didn't deliver). Then I decided to save money and acquire P9. Since then I've been playing TPS, East Coast Wins, Hatebears, Delver, Grow, Gushcombo, (Pitch) Burning Tendrils, Oath and now Gifts. So almost anything but Dredge and Workshop. I've been reading TMD since 2011, but never signed up. But hey, better late than never!

Hey all. Michael here. Played a lot of casual Magic back during the Tempest and Urza blocks. Started getting into more competitive type 1.5 tournaments up until Ravnica, then school and other things took over. Started back up again around Theros, and here I am! Vintage is my favorite format, and while I don't have the funds to play paper magic, I love reading and talking about it, as well as watching streams and videos. Glad to finally join the mana drain community.

Hi everyone. My name is Eric and I live in Washington (state). I've been playing vintage for a few years and we have a local league (similar to the VSL) that's been running for a while. I usually play aggro/control strategies, ala Young Pyromaster control, or Oath. I've been known to sleeve up dredge when sideboards get lazy I also play on magic online to pass the time. Glad to be part of the community. Everyone have a great day! -Eric

Hello everyone,
I'm a relatively new magic player, (started in Dark Ascension) from the Northeast. I found out about this place from some wonderful gentlemen who play vintage at my lgs and was convinced into buying into the format by watching them play vintage at FNM.
I have two loves in life, the first being a heartless delver playing sob and the second being whiskey.

Hello everyone,
I've been playing Magic since shortly before Mirrodin Besieged was released, Legacy since 2012, and I've played Vintage online for several months now. I've almost acquired my set of power, just looking for an Emerald and a Pearl. I got into the format primarily watching LSV play Delver on his stream and by watching the VSL.
I'm from Dallas, but currently live in the Bay Area.

Hey all,
I've been lurking and reading posts here since the mid 00s, and have been playing off and on since '93 (while no one truly quits Magic, I did take about a 7 year hiatus from playing). I'm a Tim at heart, and love all things Limited, but now that Vintage is effectively live on MODO, I've been trying to break into it for the first time since Full on Trix and some of the original GAT lists were still a thing. For Vintage, time and budget restrictions will keep me exclusively on MODO, but I've accumulated a pretty solid collection capable of fielding multiple decks and am starting to look for playtest partners and people to bounce ideas off from time to time, so figured it was time to stop lurking here, and actually join up.

Hi everyone, I'm a software developer in western Mass. I started playing Vintage (first 4c PW Control, and now Dredge) about a year ago. However, the thing that brings me to TMD is the great community here for original art. I just picked up my first couple pieces and can't wait to pick up some more.

Hello!
My name is Charlie, I live in Fargo ND, I work as a nurse, and I'm new to Vintage. I've jumped right in and bought 5 pieces of power in the last 2 months. Hope to get some insight on deck building and general strategy.

Hello everyone,
My name is Tim. I'm based in the mid-west U.S. (Indianapolis, IN). I've primary played paper vintage (gen-con worlds) primarily because I'm not able to travel like what i used to. I'm glad to finally be apart of this community.

Hello all,
I'm from New York, and have been playing off and on since Revised. I've been lurking for a while now and though I mostly play legacy and limited, I've recently started playing vintage.
I picked up my first piece of power at Eternal Extravaganza 2, which was a great event put on by Tales of Adventure. I am looking forward to all the upcoming events in the New York area, and being a part of this great community.

Hi all, I'm relatively new to Vintage, having played in a small tournament when I lived in Texas. I no longer live there, but I'm trying to bring Vintage to Michigan, starting with my local store's proxy league.
Looking forward to learning lots about the format!

Hello TMD!
My name is Andrew and I recently came back to the game roughly 6 months ago. I don't remember the year but I remember my friend next door bringing over this long box of cards and we played and I was hooked. I traded a Beanie Baby for everything in the box and would plead my mom to get an Ice Age pack when I tagged along grocery shopping. That was my introduction to the game. I stopped playing around Lorwyn-Innistrad. I came to Chicago a number of years ago to begin my doctoral studies. I play Lands and Enchantress in legacy and have joined with Mark and others to stream Legacy and now Modern on the WUBRG.xyz twitch stream. I hope we can branch out into covering vintage as the scene picks up more. My time lurking on this site and has given me the bug to play shops as I do love grindy prison/control strategies. I have been privileged to learn about Vintage from wonderful TMD folks like strip miner and Jaco and I look forward to learning more about the format here!
