I'm glad to finally be here! I'm live in the south-central PA area and started playing at about Urza's Destiny, then stopped at the Kamigawa sets. I played occasionally with friends over the last 8-9 years but didn't really follow the new sets. Now I'm finished with the military and college and have a real job, so I think it's time to get back into magic. As a kid I was always fascinated by the older guys at my shop playing 'the deck' and other very complex type 1 powerhouses. I always tried to collect older cards to make a T1 control deck. Luckily I did because most of those cards are $100+ now. Over time I collected a set of power (minus timetwister) and many of the other pre-Kamigawa staples. I opened a pack of Worldwake when it came out and pulled this crazy 'planeswalker' card called Jace, the Mindsculpter. I didn't know how it worked so I stowed it away. Luckily he's a pretty cool guy nowadays. I look forwards to relearning the meta and losing 500 games in a row.

Hi,
My name is Wendall. I first played magic back in 1994, when I bought an unlimited starter pack at a little game shop at the suggestion of a couple friends of mine. That pack had an Ancestral Recall, which was pretty sweet.
We played casually among ourselves, and I stopped for a while, but started playing again off and on on mtgo around the time Time Spiral was released - mostly in the casual room, building terrible decks with cheap cards.
Then my wife came home with my boys one day after taking them to the game shop, and they were talking about this sweet game they wanted to play, with a few of Scars of Mirrodin packs. I built Kuldotha Red (because it was cheap, and ran bolt ... which was all nostalgia, casting bolts) and started taking them to FNMs every week.
Eventually they lost interest, but me - I did not. I played standard for a while (caw blade, wolf run ramp), then started playing Legacy. Then vintage came out on MTGO, and I found out about a local proxy Vintage tournament a few of the local guys run once every two to three months. I've been playing every one of those I can make since I found out about it.
All that led to a trip to Eternal Weekend this year, to play in a sanctioned Vintage tournament for the first time. Maybe I saw some of you there - I know I sat & watched a couple of smenendian's matches in the 93/94 tournament in the hotel lobby (that was sweet, and I wish I'd known about it beforehand, I probably could have played in it and lost a lot).
Anyway, I'm a terrible player, but it's really fun, and I've been lurking off & on with no account for a bit ... glad to be here.

Hello,
My name is Bibi. Started Magic in 2003 when Mirrodin came out. Then took a long 10 year break from 2004 -2014. Currently in college and realized I like the gravity of decisions in Vintage.
Always liked aggro, linear decks (Mirrodin was a good time!). My only foray into Vintage so far is Dredge on MTGO. A terrible player but glad to be here.

My name is John and I've been playing Magic since 1994. My first cards were a starter deck of Revised and a couple of Antiquities booster packs. I was hooked ever since the first game.
I purchased a collection in 1999 that had a complete set of Unlimited. This sparked my interest in Type 1, which I had not played before but had looked at decklists for, assuming that I could not break in without the power 9. Games of Type 1 were hard to find while I was in the military between 1999 and 2004. I left the service and moved back to Texas in 2004 but couldn't find many games of vintage. My first child was born in 2005 and, along with her, came expenses that I was not prepared for, so I decided to sell of some of my older sets (including my set of Unlimited) to help make up for the expenses. I would occasionally glance at vintage reports, but decided that legacy was the format that I wanted to keep up with.
I went to Grand Prix New Jersey in 2014 because of my love of legacy, which is where I found out about Eternal Weekend. It was too late to go to Eternal Weekend 2014, but I was determined to go to Eternal Weekend 2015. I found the VSL videos shortly after season 1 ended, and I binge watched them over a weekend. That did it. I fell back in love with vintage and knew I had to start figuring out what I was going to play.
I only own two cards banned from budget decks (a Mox Jet and an Imperial Seal), so I decided that I wanted to try for the budget prizes. I figured the best way of fighting against powered decks was to play an Oath deck. Stephen Menendian was finishing his book about Gush and Bob Maher was playing a Gush deck that included Fastbond, Crucible of Worlds, and Zuran Orb (a favorite of mine since Ice Age), so I decided to make that a part of my deck. I tinkered for a bit and came up with an Oath-Gush Storm list that I liked even though I knew it wasn't good. I played the deck and ended up going 5-4-1 (aided by a couple of opponents who didn't show up), for 113th place, 6th among budget decks and I'm happy with those results, for now.

Hi Everyone, My name is Dan, I live in San Antonio, and I started playingM:tG in 1994; one of my 6th grade teachers taught me, actually. I've been a Blue player since the beginning and am absolutely in love with the oldschoolmtg/9394 format as well as Vintage. I, like many others, have quit and restarted a few times (no one quits forever). I'm not as oldschool as a lot of the people here, but I do have an 8-digit DCI number that starts with a '3'

Welcome. There's a pretty solid group of guys who travel and play vintage around Cleveland. They call themselves Team Serious and their communications hub can be found here.

Howdy, i'm a relatively new vintage player from the NOVA region. I started playing magic a while back (I think around 7th edition), but didn't really get into some of the more competitive aspects until late high school/college. Really got hooked on vintage when a friend who went to FNM in college introduced me to vintage via proxies and we enjoyed jamming games at FNM. Sadly that died down when he graduated, luckily there are a few guys around here with an interest in vintage and a bunch of people who play legacy who hopefully will be down to play vintage. Hopefully looking to get more involved with vintage now that I have graduated and have some disposable income to spend on some vintage staples.

Hi all!
I'm an online exclusive Vintage player (my paper collection never really got anywhere despite starting a long time ago, but the lower financial bar makes online an easy fit) and am still trying to get my Vintage sea legs. So far even losses have been fun because I enjoy decision intensive gameplay rather than linear jam every card type games. Hoping to find my way in the format and level up my overall gameplay at the same time.

I'm the same way. Feel free to message me on mtgo anytime you want, same name there as here. There's a vintage player run event tomorrow at 11am EST, and a few dailies too.

Hi Everybody!
My name is Giulianno, I'm from Brazil, I love Commander and Cube and sometimes I play modern and legacy, this month there will be a 10-Proxy Vintage tournament in my city and I've decided to study more of the format so I can do well in it. I'm still trying to save money so I can buy a vintage deck on mtgo and in the meantime I'm playing some games on Xmage with some friends. I started magic in 2009 just before the release of Zendikar and I've always loved grixis decks, in modern I play BR Burn, UR Storm and UW Gifts Tron, in legacy i play Goblins, Burn and Ledless Dredge and I'm thinking of building a Grixis Slaver deck for vintage. My favorite cards are Lightning Bolt, Goblin Guide, Gifts Ungiven, Yawgmoth's Will and Trinket Mage.

This is Khahan. A few very long time members may remember me as an Oath and slaver/tendrils hybrid player from about 7-9 years ago. I'm in the SE Pa region - used to be very active with the CCG and Blue Bell tournaments. I'm starting to get back into Magic after a very long lay off. Type 1 (10-12 proxy) is coming back to the region with Deal Me In Games in Boyertown Pa. So I want to get myself back into top form to start kicking a new generation of players butts.

Hi.
My name is Max and I've been playing magic since Dark Ascension. I'm primarily a Legacy player but I have a large local Vintage community. I've been dabbling in the format, primarily with non-blue decks.

Hello everybody! My name is Maciek (from Poland) and I'm currently working on my master's degree in computer science. I have been playing Magic for about 6-7 years now, but I got interested in Vintage just recently, thanks to Randy Buehler's VSL. I was hooked immediately after watching the first few episodes, but I wasn't ready to make an investment and buy cards (I'm talking MTGO here, the paper format is out of the question ). So I started with Legacy and it was super fun until they banned Dig Through Time. Meanwhile, the Bloom Titan deck has arisen in Modern. I thought I wasn't interested in that format, but I liked this kind of land-toolkit-combo deck, so I bought it. It turned out that the deck really suits my playstyle and I have been winning quite a bit in online 8-man events. So much so in fact, that after a month of playing Bloom I used earned tickets to buy most of the cards I needed for Vintage. Selling the remains of my Legacy collection did the rest. So here we go, after being interested in Vintage and tracking tournaments results and format evolution for about a year now, I finally have my Vintage deck. Right now, I have been playing for not much more than a week. It is a ton of fun (although still pretty intimidating). I try to get better in piloting Grixis Control, becouse this is a deck that I wanted to play the most. It is really great to be here! Cheers, maciek16180

Hi Everyone,
My name is Dan.. played in college in the early/mid 90s, playing around a little bit with a friend now. Probably more casual than most on this site but have appreciated the game for a long time.
Used to own some magic artwork but found the small size hindered my enjoyment of it so I sold it off; but still a collector at heart and enjoy keeping an eye on what things are selling for even if I'm not buying a lot of mtg actively.

Hi, fellow vintage players This is Samo from Slovenia (yes that's in Europe). I recently bought my way into vintage through Bazaars, but I played a lot of proxy vintage before. Otherwise I play legacy. I'm mostly a combo player, I enjoy doing broken things and killing people quickly I'm also interested in pimping and art, curently working on japanizing my decks and getting them signed later. I will be attending Nebraska's war tournament in Italy in december, where I'll be rocking Dredge in vintage and Storm in legacy. best regards
