As Round 3 pairings were being posted, the following records were available from Kowal:

Kowal is 1-1
Mike Lydon is 2-0
Steve Houdlette is 1-1
TK is 2-0
Roland is 2-0

I am 0-0-0 due to the impeccably-timed onset of sudden illness.  I hope to make Sunay, though.

Just got off the phone with Tommy.  He's 3-0 Playing a Slaver list with 2 maindeck Misdirection, 2 Impulse, and 3 FLAMETONGUE KAVU in the board (talk about 2004)

He didn't have much more for me.
Evenpnece blows, he 0-2ed right away.
Ray Robilard is not playing, just hosting.
Elias is 2-0-1, and bitching to TK about playing in the draw bracket
Nate Pease is 2-1
Kyle Lieth  is blowing
Mistriano lost round 1 or 2, not sure how he's doing otherwise.
Arend was 2-0, not sure on round 3.
DiceMan isn't there.
No word if Crazy Carl Winters is playing.

There are 117 people.

TK=The absolute balls

If so, it's hard to argue with TK being the best performing person in Vintage.  The fact that he switches archetypes like its nothing makes that even more amazing.

DA, I hope you can make it tomorrow.

Wow, TK is really something, isn't he? I'm glad we have people skilled like him in Vintage.

I think its interesting TK played Slaver.  I gotta see how he handled Pitch Long.

Speaking of, was that a popular choice?

Apparently, there is almost ZERO combo, that explains slaver's showing.

Yeah, that's truly staggering. You'd think that the good Slaver matchup would be enough to make it worth the gamble of playing Pitch Long in that region.  Rolling Eyes

Who knows, maybe I'm dumb.  Very Happy

Peace,

In due time, my friend. I doubt that the winner has even gotten something to eat afterwards yet. All the lists will be public by next week.

Jeff Greene cheated...I saw him stacking his deck and bending cards to see if they were foils before he drew.  He really was sneaky about it too.  Too bad bad i scrubbed out at this event:

3 wins
1 tie
3 losses

waste of 30 dollars...the judges were terrible too...I heard someone tried to pass a fake lotus and the judges didn't even know how to test if it was fake or not.  Level 3 dci certification my ass.....

The lotus given as prize in the top 8 power draft was really badly creased, almost unplayable too.

Not worth the 5 hour trip.... Sad

Does this really have to happen? Why is someone always trying to acuse people of things and ruin the good mood of an event?

So you saw something illegal, that apparently no one else saw, yet didn't say anything?

You heard of something else?

You were expecting awesome conditioned power?

Thanks for telling the judges about this cheating-- Oh, wait.

If you can see that he's cheating, even incompetent can't-tell-a-fake judges can.

I'm glad you won't be at any more SCG events. Thx.

No man, I really didnt mean it that way...it was really suspicioius though when he'd touch the top card, then decide to "fetchland before his upkeep"....and to Moxlotus- I didnt want to say anything because if i were wrong and it was all a coincidence of the touch and "in response to upkeep" thing i didnt want to look like any more of a jerk (I was already playing bomberman---worst deck ever)

Reporting cheating is not "looking like a jerk;" in fact, it is the complete opposite.  Nonetheless, I'm doubtful whether or not your claim is valid.  As Hi-Val said, even incompetent judges would notice such a thing, and it's also not uncommon for a person to touch the top of his/her library or put the top card down on the table before remembering that he had intended some upkeep effects, remember to flip for Mana Crypt, etc.

I ended up stuck in Ohio on short notice, but this is really unacceptable behavior. I won't flame here or anything, but I have to speak up. The event is in the books for all of a few hours, and the man's name is being dragged through the mud already? That's ridiculous. Also, I have been to a handful of these events, and if anything, SCG is too strict with their grading in general, not the opposite. I have never seen them try to pass off truly poor conditioned cards in their drafts. Just because the Lotus isn't pack-fresh Mint doesn't make it a bad deal at all for an investment of $30. (Hell, I'd buy a Lotus that was ripped in half for $30) *Winks at Brassman* They do great things for the format, and will hopefully be successful enough to do so for a long time. Come on. Seriously. Congratulations to Jeff on his win and congratulations to SCG for hosting what will surely go down as one of their best events to date.

Later,
Dave

That thing about Jeff Greene was just a joke...he's a nice guy congrats to him for the win.  No need to get defensive, it must be that time of the month.

I was about to give you a verbal warning for your original post (and, incidentally, your username), but then you made this post. You get a full Warning. TMD is not the place for arbitrary character defamation.

Yeah, no, I know Jeff personally and was with him at multiple times during the tourney as well as the finals and saw nothing even remotely sketchy. Any kind of cheating would also be really inconsistent with his character IMO. If this accusation was indeed a joke it was most certainly in bad taste.

PS- Cross says you're a douche
