4th november in Valencia (Spain) 168 players, 10 proxies allowed. Only 9 swiss rounds, no top8. 1st-8th prize: 8 Black Lotus for Draft. 9th-16th prize: 1 Mox Sapphire, 3 Mox EMerald, 3 Mox Ruby and 1 Mox Pearl for Draft.
The tournament was awesome and everybody that went have a lot of fun. There was Mana Drains everywhere, very few combo and fish and an average amount of oath and MWS.decs. The unique negative feedback was the low assistance for the great prizes. A very little assistance from out of Spain. I believe the byes were a heavy charge for the tournament.

What an awesome Prize Structure! We can only support 1 piece of power, plus a few mid-range cards as prizes out here in California, even with 10 proxies.
Thanks for lists...

Whoa. That Oath list looks almost exactly what the last GWS Oath deck looked like--SB and all. Sweet. Also nice to see Pitch Long making a top8 somewhere else in the world.
Where did all those "Intuitive" decks go? Weren't those dominating the Catalonia league--which is in Spain? Or am I just an idiot?

Stax's results are garbage, as trends of late would indicate.
Sightown.
Congrats to that one dude who made 18th though. Oh, and all the Gifts builds in the T8. Go...Gifts...Yay...

Glad that most of the Gifts decks that made top 16 listened to certain US counterparts and avoided playing TfKs, because they don't belong in Gifts. Oh wait...
On a more serious note, 8 of the top 16 decks were Gifts. Not a good sign.

I'm guessing that all the good players chose to go with powered decks rather then decks that beat them (IE few fishies, lots of stuff gifts beats)

Where did all those "Intuitive" decks go? Weren't those dominating the Catalonia league--which is in Spain? Or am I just an idiot? Intuitive is very popular in Catalonia where a lot of Fish is played. I suppose Gifts a better deck choice if you plan to see few Fish decks, because it was a 10 proxy event.

With all the gifts, I would have opted for Grimlong or SS. PRobobly Grimlong, because SS Blows.
Its Raining Men would have been an amazing deck, too.

GrimLong? In my experience, Gifts, at least the Meandeck version, is a horrible matchup for any variant of Long. Turn 1 Merchant Scroll is insanely powerful against a deck that doesn't have a lot of protection for its win. On the other hand, SS does have a crazy-good matchup against Gifts, as well as Long.

I never fear gifts when playing long. Xantid + Duress + speed is all you need.

When thing I'm really happy to see is that the cut to Top 8 was completely clean. It would be pretty heartbreaking to lose out on such a great prize because of tiebreakers, and it's very nice that everything worked out without anyone losing out on breakers (now, if someone drew in the last round when he shouldn't have, that's his own fault).

I have a few questions for the organizers : - how many byes were distributed before the tournament ? - since which round did people without byes meet some people with byes ?
The fact people with byes have a better pairing than people without is certainly modifying the results
I mean : if 32 pairs of 2 byes are distributed : round 3 -> 16 match where people with byes meet themselves with 6 points 136 other men -> max 34 other 6 points people that meet themselves (17 match)
round 4 -> 16 match with 9 points for people with byes AND people without. byes meet byes ... we can see that people winning with byes do not meet people winning without byes until the 5th-6th round. Abroad people would have always been behind the others ..
I think this is the main factor that lowered the number of participants. I would have been glad to come (from paris) but doing a 2500km trip to be the "victim" of a huge imbalance would have discussed me.
the quantity of byes (won in 12-20 people tournament) lead to imbalance..
sorry for my difficulties to explain myself in english, hope you understood...

@JDizzle:
The cut for the top8 were not completely clean. The 9th playter in the top choose to play the 9th round beacuse he wanted to win the entire tournamente beacuse there was not top8 matches, only the swiss rounds. He wanted to play vs Pablo David in the 9th round and lost :***. I am that player XD.
@kLu In the 3rd round the people with and without byes played already. There was 40 people with byes and in the top16 were:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, , 11th and 12th.
I hated byes and we talk with the TO that in future tournaments there are no byes (maybe only 2 or 4 in 2 previous mid-large size range tourneys and some invitation for some Europeans champions)
About intuitive-decks the most successfully catalonian players with these decks, didn`t travel or didn't choose it for the tourney. And a group of catalonias people choose to not go to the tourney beacuse they do not like the proxies.

Not going to an 8 Lotus tournament because you don't like proxies. Man, that is crazy talk.

Top 8 was not decided on tiebreakers because you decided that you would rather play for glory rather than take the sure thing. Whose fault is it that you lost?

Ok, it seems clean. Only if I were ID or win my final match a player with 22 points were 9th. The player 17th didnt took a mox beacuse tiebrakers.
