It's like Round 3 or 4, and I have the following results (not very extensive):
Eric Becker is X-0 Brian Demars is X-1 Steven Menendian is X-1 Paul Mastriano is like X-1 or something Colby Evenpence is X-1-1 Mark Biller (!) is X-1
I'll find out how many people and what the metagame looks like on the next call.
EDIT: Roanoke, not Richmond (fortunately, I was not in charge of directions for my teammates).

Its Roanoke, not Richmond. Unfortunately, we lost a bunch of players to two PTQs (one two hours south of us and one three hours north of us) that were scheduled after this event was announced. As a result, attendance is only around 50 players. Prize payout remains the same. Best wishes, Pete Hoefling President, StarCityGames.com

yeah i think this is a weird time for a lot of people to trek out to virginia. TK couldnt go because deer hunting season started, and a bunch of us in wisconsin are nearing the end of the semester so we're prety bogged down in homework.

Eric is 3-1. That's HOT. 50ish players is what, 5 rounds or six? His deck he's playing is the nuts.

Ben Carp, Dave Fienstein and Eric Becker are in top 8. Demars missed out on breakers.

From Seymourws on StarCityGames Forums: I recently got off the phone with my teammates who went to Roanoke. The 2 of us that went down took 1st and 2nd, so congrats to Jeff and Mike. They agreed to split finals as far as I know. Jeff was playing Pitch Long and Mike was playing Gifts. I didnt really hear what the top 8 was. Eric Becker with some U/R/B fish variant was top 4 I think. Once again, congrats guys.

Oh man, Eric Becker totally owns that 3/4th slot. That really blows that SCG keeps getting only 50 people because of PTQs. I'd bet a hefty amount that this problem won't happen in Chicago next year Sweet at Pitch Long making 1/2.

I can't wait to see what today's results will bring. I hope for the sake of the format that the rest of the top 8 wasn't PL and Gifts, but I'd bet it wasn't. That rarely happens. I only remember 3 times of something that stupid happening--8 Lotus tourney (Gifts), a Waterbury (Slaver), SCG Richmond #2 (Oath).
To be fair, day 1 of boston was Stax v. Bomberman in the finals.
People need to be bringing out the URBana Fish!

This is actually pretty irrelevant. There was only one copy of each deck in the Top 8, so there's nothing that can be said from results like this. Maybe both those decks had good matchups against the other members of Top 8 (or was fortunate enough to draw a good match), or got a little lucky with some good draws. All this says is that these two decks are likely the best decks in the format. There has to be something that's the best deck, right? (Any finite set has a maximal element.)

43 people came today. Eric Becker played Urbana Fish again today and ended up in 10th place. 10th place is the new 9th. GWS claimed 10th place both days. Brian "The Kabuto Moth" Demars had the misfortune to land there yesterday.
Ben and Dan Carp both made T8 at some point on the weekend as well.
That's all I know.

I only know that Steve scrubbed out Day 1 with Gifts, and beat Eric Becker somewhere on Day 2 (also playing Gifts, I believe).

Day One Top 8 (not in order):
Nathan Harrison (me) (U/W Fish) Michael Hetherington (?) Eric Becker (U/R/B Fish) Elias Vaisberg (Gifts?) David Feinstein (U/W Fish) Jeff Folinus (Pitch Long) Ben Carp (Oath) Van Sears (7/10)
Day Two Top 8 (not in order):
David Feinstein Eric Becker? Cody Vinci Cullen Cox? Paul Mastriano? // not entirely sure for day 2, I just scanned the top 8 before I left
and on day 2 smennen took 9th and got himself a timetwister
Both days were awesome. Big props to Feinstein for going top 8 both days and being awesome in general and also props to that guy to got deck-checked 4 times in his last SCG tourney and twice on day one of Roanoke. Btw sorry about your car Klep, wish you could've played day 1.

43 people
Bomberman versus Intuition Tendrils split (Cody was one of these) Feinstein T4ed with Fish (knocked out Jesse) Paul Mastriano T8 (knocked out by the Gifts guy) Jesse Pinchot T8 Gifts from yesterday finals made T4 and lost to IT
2 Stax 2 UW(b) Fish IT Gifts GrimLong Bomberman
Went to second tie breaker Smmenen got 9th Eric Becker got 10th
Some Meandeckers had to go and Demars drove back, which explains the lower turnout
Travis was in contention in the middle rounds but his deck crapped out on him and his opponent had double R&R
Elias with GAT went 4-2
OMG IT WAS KELP!

Arsenal wins day two!
Day one I was 2-0 for a brief moment, but then I lost to my teammate Cody and then another player from my local group. Day two I lost to Becker round one and another UB fish player round three.
It was great to meet Dxfiler and Hydra. Also, props to Jerry Yang for being such a good guy, and making all one and a half of our matches enjoyable.
Congratulations Cody!!!

It was a really well run event, and it was my first trip to the SCG center in Va. I must add that the SCG building was beautiful and very spacious. Everything was wonderful, except:
1. A bearded Judge with long hair who though he was the worlds most important person, and hassled probably every person in the building at at least one point.
2. The Asian cards were very disappointing. There were almost zero foils.
Other than that it was a very nice event.
I ended up finishing 10th on day one, and we had to leave that night because Phil Cape had an engagement the following day.
I went X-2 Phil went X-3 and Mark Biller in his first Vintage event in roughly two years went X-2-2
The only reason I didn't get the Time Twister for Ninth place was because Smennen scrubbed out so hardcore, 1-3 drop and botched my breakers. Boo to you Steve. I think you owe me the Twister you won in day two!!!!
Thanks again for running the Event, in spite of the low turnout. And congrats to everybody who ended up winning.
To Dave Feistien!!! Who I met for the first time at this event. What a great guy. Go get um tiger, in spite of your awful arguement about why Gifts should be restricted.
Evenpence is a fine player; and his eyepatch was uber cool.

OH MY GOD!!!! IT !!! Man, that is awesome. I'm also curious as to how the hell it beat Gifts. That match was pretty awful.
Interesting to see different decks in the top 8 each day, including 6 different decks in the day 2 top 8.
Also sweet to see 7/10 taking home power. Brian Fisher is going to freak out when he hears this and immediately rebuild the deck.
I can't wait to see the Stax builds. It's too bad they both went out in the quarters.

Hey... just wanted to clear up that I wasn't playing IT, I was playing a deck similar to what has been called Drain TPS by the Starcity database but I call Drain Tendrils. It has some cards/strategies that would be considered different such as one dark ritual, frantic search, gush, no maindeck Tinker and 2x Tendrils as the only maindeck kill. It's a drain control deck with only a combo finish game one. I went 4-2 day one with the list losing to Becker in the match to get into top 8. Day 2 I played Mike Hetherington (He was a great guy to play against and congrats to him for top 2 and then top 4.) once in Swiss and went 2-0 and again in top 4 and went 2-0. I went 4-0-2 (2 ID) in swiss and had 1 game loss all day (to Marty in the top 8). I don't get many chances to play in large type 1 tourneys, but my team and I have been aware of the power of this deck for almost 6 months now. In the 4 local tourneys at the Sports Zone in Cary, NC, I have piloted this deck to a 14-0 match record and a 26-2 game record. The caliber of players is admittedly not as high as larger events, but everyone knows what they're doing and usually plays drains, fish, shops or combo or something competetive.
Here's the list I ran:
Maindeck
Counter 4x Mana Drain 4x Force of Will
Draw 4x Accumulated Knowledge 4x Brainstorm 3x Thirst for Knowledge 1x Ancestral Recall 2x Intuition 1x Gush 1x Fact or Fiction 1x Frantic Search
Other Good Stuff
2x Tendrils of Agony 1x Dark Ritual 1x Mystical Tutor 1x Demonic Tutor 1x Time Walk 2x Rebuild 1x Chain of Vapor 1x Yawgmoth’s Will 1x Vampiric Tutor
Mana
4x Underground Sea 4x Island 3x Flooded Strand 2x Polluted Delta 1x Tolarian Academy 1x Sol Ring 1x Black Lotus 1x Mox Pearl 1x Mox Emerald 1x Mox Ruby 1x Mox Sapphire 1x Mox Jet 1x Mana Crypt 1x Mana Vault 1x Lotus Petal 1x Library of Alexandria
//61 Cards
Sideboard
1x Hurkyl's Recall 1x Darkblast 3x Diabolic Edict 4x Duress 1x Tinker 1x Darksteel Colossus 2x Tormod’s Crypt 2x Massacre
// 15 Cards
