Now that the first cards are being spoiled, it seems time to start looking at the gems that are in Planar Chaos for Type 4.

These are the ones that are almost definitely going into my stack:

Benalish Commander         3w
Creature - Human Soldier Lord    R
Benalish Commander's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Soldiers you control.
Suspend X -{X}{W}{W}. X can't be 0.
Whenever a time counter is removed from Benalish Commander while it's removed from the game, put a 1/1 white soldier creature token into play.
*/*

Suspend for A LOT and you get a free token each turn AND the 'generator' is "indestructible". A 1/1 each turn seems innocent but can be pretty good on the offense and defense.

Aeon Chronicler         3uu
Creature - Avatar    R
Aeon Chronicler's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your hand.
Suspend X - {X}3{U}. X can't be 0.
Whenever a time counter is removed from Aeon Chronicler, if it's removed from the game, draw a card.
*/*

Just like the Commander this is a free (if you use that personal rule for suspend at least) engine, but this one is even better.

Jedit Ojanen of Efrava         3ggg
Legendary Creature - Cat Warrior Lord    R
Forestwalk
Whenever Jedit Ojanen of Efrava attacks or blocks, put a 2/2 green Cat Warrior creature token with Forestwalk into play.
5/5

5/5 isn't very strong but it's unblockable (unless you use other House rules) and gives a free unblockable 2/2 every time it attacks or blocks. Not the strongest but a nice beatdown option. Might turn out too weak however.

Intet, the Dreamer      3urg
Legendary Creature - Dragon    R
Flying
Whenever Intet, the Dreamer deals combat damage to an opponent, you may pay 2{U}. If you do, remove the top card of your library from the game face down. As long as Intet is in play, you may look at that card and play it without paying its mana cost.
6/6

The option of playing cards for free is always powerful in Type 4. The ability attached to a 6/6 flyer is very nice. On top of that it's a Dragon wich has synergy with some cards already in some stacks.

These are some options for less "powered" stacks:

Rebuff the Wicked      w
Instant    U
Counter target spell that targets a permanent you control.

Another limited counterspell if your stack needs it.

Magus of the Bazaar         1u
Creature - Human Wizard    R
{T}: Draw two cards, then discard three cards.
0/1

Could be a nice utility critter.

Damnation         2bb
Sorcery    (TS)R
Destroy all creatures. They can't be regenerated.

This will probably be included in a lot of stacks. Personally, I've cutted all 'vanilla Wraths'.

Enslave         4bb
Enchantment - Aura    U
Enchant creature
You control enchanted creature.
At the beginning of your upkeep, enchanted creature deals 1 damage to its owner.

Again, this will be put in alot of stacks. But again, I've cutted all 'vanilla Control Magics'.

From Cradle to Grave         1b
Instant    C
Destroy target nonblack creature that came into play this turn.

Shivan Meteor         3rr
Sorcery    U
Shivan Meteor deals 13 damage to target creature.
Suspend 2 - 1{R}{R}

Two extra 'limited' removal cards ... 13 damage is pretty cool however.

Oros, the Avenger         3wbr
Legendary Creature - Dragon    R
Flying
Whenever Oros, the Avenger deals combat damage to an opponent, you may pay 2{W}. If you do, Oros
deals 3 damage to each nonwhite creature.
6/6

Will go in a lot of stacks. 6/6 flyers are always nice beef and this has a mini-Wrath atached to it. Personally, I'm afraid it will kill my own utility critters and draw too much heat to you from other players when used too often.

These are some options for Chaos Stacks:

Nodes of Porphyry         w
Enchantment    (TS)R
At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy the creature with the least power. It can't be regenerated. If two or more creatures are tied for least power, you choose one.
When there are no creatures in play, sacrifice Nodes of Porphyry.

Drop of Honey, but cheaper to acquire.

Temporal Extortion         bbbb
Sorcery    R
When you play Temporal Extortion, any player may pay half his or her life, rounded up. If a player does, counter Temporal Extortion.
Take an extra turn after this one.

Just let it count for all players. It gives a "poker" feeling: you raise your options by making an extra payment. Very fun Chaos Stack card in my eyes.

Enjoy,
WhiteWolf

Benalish Commander and Aeon Chronicler I really like. The rest aren't going to cut it.

Very cool firebreather:

Akroma, Angel of Fury         5rrr
Legendary Creature - Angel   R

Akroma, Angel of Fury can't be countered.
Flying, trample, protection from white, protection from blue
{R}: Akroma gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
Morph 3{R}{R}{R} (You may play this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
6/6

She's definitely going into my stack. She's free, has evasion, prtotection and firebreathes!

Teneb, the Pilferer         3bgw
Legendary Creature - Dragon   R

Flying
Whenever Teneb, the Pilferer deals combat damage to an opponent, you may pay 2{B}. If you do, return target creature card from any graveyard to play under your control.
6/6

Another nice Dragon. Reanimating your own and especially other player's critters is always strong in Type 4!

Vorosh, the Hunter         3gbu
Legendary Creature - Dragon   R

Flying
Whenever Vorosh, the Hunter deals combat damage to an opponent, you may pay 2{G}. If you do, put 6 +1/+1 counters on Vorosh.
6/6

Less powerful then the other Dragons in this set I think, but still nice for some stacks.

Some more cool Type 4 cards:

Voidstone Gargoyle         3ww
Creature - Gargoyle   R

Flying
As Voidstone Gargoyle comes into play, name a nonland card.
The named card can't be played.
Activated abilities of permanents with that name can't be played.
Activated abilities of cards with that name that aren't in play can't be played.
3/3

Body Double         4u
Creature - Shapeshifter   R

As Body Double comes into play, you may choose a creature card in a graveyard. If you do, Body Double comes into play as a copy of that card.

Thereīre a lot of the cards you listed that are not powerful enough to be autoincluded.
And a lot of the others are simply less powerful than existing ones (like the new Wrath of God).

So far, Iīd only include (I donīt play with firebreathers):

Aeon Chronicler (suspend creature to draw free cards)
Teneb, the Pilferer (reanimate creatures in any graveyard)

and maybe

Vorosh, the Hunter
Body Double (too specific)

Replace your maybes with Benalish Commander and Voidstone Gargoyle, and add Intet, the Dreamer to the "YES" category, and I agree.

It seems I overlooked Intet, so thatīs another card to add to The List.

Maybe Benalish Commander could be included in some stacks, but in mine, players start with not 20, but 30 life to make games a little longer, so it could be a little "slow", as the tokens are "only" 1/1 and there are more opportunities/turns to cast a Wrath-effect.

About the Gargoyle... The MeddlingMage effect isnīt very powerful, as there are not so many ways to look at your opponentīs hands. You could prevent their most powerful card, but as every stack has so many powerful cards, is not as effective as in other formats.
The other abilities are ok, its like having a Pithing Needle.
I donīt have nor the Mage nor the Needle in my stack, but maybe a creature with both abilities could be good.

So we have another card included, and 2 "maybes"  Very Happy

I'm just offering some possible inclusions. Not everyones stack has the same powerlevel. Personally, I'm going to include these ones up till now:

- Benalish Commander
- Aeon Chronicler
- Jedit Ojanen of Efrava
- Intet, the Dreamer
- Akroma, Angel of Fury
- Teneb, the Pilferer

Whitewolf: Thanks for getting this discussion going.  I've been a bit lazy for a while!!  Too busy myspacing girls....

Aeon Cronicler is  easily the standout card thusfar.  It's soooo good.  Not only can you just drop it and start drawing, you might actuially play it as the real card!  Check this out: you could suspend it for 1, and next turn you could protect it with a counterspell AND draw a card... not too shabby.  You could also suspend it for a while and blow the board up in the meantime.

These cards are pretty werid- like, in real Magic, why would you pay MORE mana so my creature will take longer to come into play?  Shouldn't more mana mean LESS time in suspension?  It only makes sense in Type 4....

I'm not 100% on Benalish Commander, but it's not bad.  I just don't know how exciting getting a 1/1 every turn is.. even for free, uncounterable, and forever.  Eh, it's probably good.

Jedit: I think this guy is just too weak.  Uncounterable or not, 2/2 dude, whatever, he just seems weaker than every other guy.

I think Body Double could be pretty cool. He doesn't copy until he comes into play, so you can hide your true intentions until people decide weather or not to counter. Cards that allow you to take advantage of thing that aren't in YOUR deck are often pretty good.  Definitly worth a look.

The dragons that let you reanimate and play a free card are pretty good.  Intet will be particularly good if allowed to attack at all.

Kevin Cron has pointed out that Vorosh is only an average of 9 power per atack on the first two hits.  Probably not good enough.

We haven't seen any Split Second or Flash cards yet, both of which have a lot of potential.

A new one, auto-include:

Dismal Failure   2 {U} {U}
Instant
Counter target Spell. That spell's controller discards a card.

Definitly going to be better than most of the counterspells in your stack.

Another set, another post:

These were the cards that stood out for me:

Dawn Charm 1W
Instant

Choose one - Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn; or regenerate target creature; or counter target spell that targets you.

I like this card, we might remove Lull (which is only in the stack because of lame jokes (I'm dutch)) for it.

Stonecloaker 2W
Creature - Gargoyle

Flash
Flying
When Stonecloaker comes into play, return a creature you control to it's owner's hand.
When Stonecloaker comes into play remove target card in a graveyard from the game.
3/2

At the moment, we lack a bit of graveyard removal. This also combo's nicely with stuff like Eternal Witness / Mystic Snake.

Aeon Chronicler 3UU
Creature - Avatar

Aeon Chronicler's power and toughness are each equal to the number of cards in your hand.
Suspend X - {X}3{U}. X can't be 0.
Whenever a time counter is removed from Aeon Chronicler while it's removed from the game, draw a card.
*/*

Pure mansex, this one is very hot. Auto-include is every stack.

Body Double 4U
Creature - Shapeshifter

As Body Double comes into play, you may choose a creature card in a graveyard. If you do, Body Double comes into play as a copy of that card.
0/0

A kind of Clone, but not quite. It might be better, it might be worse. We will check this one out for sure.

Dismal Failure 2UU
Instant

Counter target spell. That spell's controller discards a card.

We might throw out a vanilla (or close to vanilla) counter for this one.

Extirpate B
Instant

Split Second
Choose target card, other than a basic land card, in a graveyard. Search its controller's graveyard, hand and library for all cards with the same name and remove them from the game.

Decent card but the price might keep us from adding it.

Ana Battlemage 2G
Creature - Elf Wizard

Kicker 2U or/and 1B
When Ana Battlemage comes into play if the 2U kicker cost was paid, target player discards 3 cards.
When Ana Battlemage comes into play, if the 1B kicker cost was paid, tap target untapped creature, that creature deals damage equal to its power to it's controller.
2/2

Best battlemage thus far?

Deadwood Treefolk 5G
Creature - Treefolk

Vanishing 3
When Deadwood Treefolk comes into play or leaves play, return another target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
3/6

A big maybe, we will have to test this out.

Wild Pair 4GG
Enchantment

Whenever a creature comes into play, if you played it from your hand, you may search your library for a creature card with the same total power and toughness as that creature and put it into play. If you do, shuffle you library afterwards.

I have no idea if this one will be any good but testing this one is the least we can do.

Teneb, the Harvester 3BGW
Legendary Creature - Dragon

Flying
Whenever Teneb, the Harvester deals combat damage to a player, you may pay 2B. If you do, return target creature card from a graveyard to play under your control.
6/6

Wheeeheeee, graveyard fun. This one might be a good excuse to get rid of the junk card named Scion of Darkness.

Intet, the Dreamer      3URG
Legendary Creature - Dragon

Flying
Whenever Intet, the Dreamer deals combat damage to an opponent, you may pay 2{U}. If you do, remove the top card of your library from the game face down. As long as Intet is in play, you may look at that card and play it without paying its mana cost.
6/6

This one depends on your houserules. Not too interesting for us since it will add to your card a turn.

I didn't add Akroma cause fire breathers are just a no-go for us. And Torchling is just weak in my opinion.

While this set doesn't seem to have quite as much for Type 4 as Time Spiral did (in relation to set size of course), but it still seems to have a number of playables.  Cards that I'm likely to add:

-Stonecloaker (I'm really liking this card and the possibilities it has)
-Aeon Chronicler (Like others, I'm really digging the uncounterable draw and possible huge win condition)
-Body Double (Definetly seems playable)
-Dismal Failure (It's a hard counter with a perk)
-Enslave (I play all the control magic effects, and this one is probably the best)
-Damnation (Wrath effects, just like counterspells, are a necessity)
-Seal Of Primordium (Seal of Cleansing is good, so this is likely to make the cut)
-Intent, The Dreamer (Definetly has an ability better suited for thsi format than the Invasion dragons)
-Teneb, The Harvester (It's possibly better than Ink-Eyes and Scion)
-Vorosh, The Hunter (I love this guy as he just gets HUGE)

Torchling is a maybe, as we'll have to see how he turns out in games.  Provoke is no flying, and redirection is no untargetability, but he still has quite a few abilities to at least warrent consideration.

Well, that's not a whole lot, but the spoiler isn't complete quite yet.

I donīt see the point of including this card. Isnīt Type4 supposed to be a "highlander" format (that is, one of each)?.
You could say "But I use it to look at opponents hand and at the same time remove a card in a graveyard", but thereīre MUCH better options, like Coffin Purge, Rapid Decay, etc.

Now that we have a full spoiler of Planar Chaos, this is the list of cards Iīd include in my stack:

WHITE:
none

BLUE:
* Aeon Chronicler
* Body Double
* Dismal Failure

BLACK:
* Treacherous Urge

GREEN:
* Ana Battlemage

MULTICOLOR:
* Intet, the Dreamer
* Teneb, the Harvester

It seems itīs not a good Type4 set...

Yeh, you're probably right. Altough Im just a sucker for Split Second, there are better options than Extirpate. Ill look for a coffin purge.

And Treacherous Urge seems very weak to me. A lot of times it will just flunk out on you and I when someone attacks you you want a good answer, not a coinflip like this.

Treacherous Urge {4} {B}
   Instant

Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You may put a creature card from it into play under your control. If you do, it gains haste until end of turn. Sacrifice it at end of turn.

Youīre forgetting about stealing a Bosh, or a Memnarch, or a Masticore-type, or an Academy Rector, or even a Chainer!
In your opponentīs turn!

And, in the worst-case scenario, its a creature killer.

Treacherous Urge seems really good.  Don't forget you can use it after end step effects trigger (which we often refer to as the "waylay" step) so that the creature will be around for the entire next turn.    Let's use our brains here, kids, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out which person at the table is holding a hand ripe with creatures to steal at instant speed.  I won't say this card is great, but it ought to be at least pretty good.

Cards I'm definitely adding:

Aeon Chronicler (obv.  We're all adding this.)
Dismal Failure (another obvious add)
Body Double
Intet
Teneb
Treacherous Urge

I might add:
Dawn charm - Seems decent, but might not be good enough

Very Debateable:
Tochling - Historically, I have cut every creature with the redirection ability.  Why?  Because it sucks. Silver Wyvren- Cut. Creatures in Type 4 are too tough, they have protection, untagetability or they aren't long for this world.  A creature like Torchling needs to have staying power to be good (as he doesn't do anything else useful), and I'm just not sure he has it.  Plus, Trample is no flying.  He does have infinite-ass, which is a plus, but I don't feel like it's all that relevant.  Neat art on this card, though.

Spellshift 3u
Instant
Counter target instant or sorcery spell. Its controller reveals cards from the top of his or her library until he or she reveals an instant or sorcery card. That player may play that card without paying its mana cost. That player then shuffles his or her library.

No doubt, this card sucks. It's limited to Instants or Sorceries, and your house rules likely will allow the person you just countered to play their new card... HOWEVER- This card is damn interesting, and I'd like to see what happens when people are forced to use it.  Sometimes you don't always have a "great" counterspell to use, you use what's in your hand.  This will make for some interesting gameplay, which might be what I want in my stack.  Thoughts?

I think Vindicate Sliver is good enough for addition as well.  Barring an opposing Stifle/Trickbind effect, he seems strictly better than both Vindicate or Desert Twister.  I was still running Seal of Cleansing until I saw this guy, and now I can finally cut that card.

I totally didn't think of that guy, he's not too shabby, and there might even be a few tricks (lol, Sacrifice my Greater Morphling Sliver to destroy your perm)

Tornado is still the best Desert Twister.
