I am wondering how Shahrazad and Suspend interact. Let's say I suspend a card that gets five time counters when suspended. If I play Shahrazad immediately after would I remove a time counter during my first turn in the subgame or would that card be invisible to the subgame?

If I removed the last time counter in the subgame would the spell be played in the subgame?

If I were to suspend a card within a subgame but never complete the time-counter removal, would that card still have those time counters when I popped back up to the main game? If so would I continue the time-counter-removal process and end up playing that spell in the main game?

A friend of mine pointed me to a ruling which he has interpreted as a "no" to all three questions.

506.5. All objects in the main game and all cards outside the main
game are considered outside the subgame (except those specifically
brought into the subgame). All players not currently in the subgame
are considered outside the subgame.

Since "removed from game" is not the same as "outside the game" this would imply that these interactions do not work. Does anyone have an insight?

Thanks,
-mike

I think "no" to all three is correct. The cards in the main game would be "outside the game" in the same sense as cards in your sideboard are "outside the game". Thus, they cannot be targeted, or have any effect on the subgame unless they are brought into the subgame first.

I agree though I do wonder about the third situation where I suspend a card within the subgame and don't finish removing its counters. Maybe I never get the effect in the main game. I certainly don't get to continue its removal in future subgames. But do those counters stay on it? Does it just sit there forever? What happens if I wish for it? Would it lose its time counters then?

You are in Game A.  Other cards are in Game B.  Each card in each game follow their individual game rules, as best as I know.

My point? Don't play Sharahazad competetively. It's just wrong.

What happens in Game A STAYS in Game A.  Only say Buring Wish, Golden Wish etc can change that.

A card suspended in the main game will not be part of the subgame in any way.  It is not in the removed from game zone of the subgame, so not considered suspended as far as the subgame is concerned.  So there will be no counters removed from it on any subgame upkeeps.  Also, because the card is not considered suspended for the subgame, it is not a legal target for clockspinning and similar cards.  As such, there is no way for the last counter to be removed during the subgame, so no possibility of the card being played in the subgame.

A card suspended in the subgame is a far more complicated situation.  At this time there is no official answer available to this question.  The question has been raised with the people who make decisions on such things.  I expect to have an official answer available in a couple of days and will post it here as soon as I receive it.

In the interim, opinions or speculations on how it works or should work are unnecessary.  An official answer should be available shortly, please wait for it patiently.

A card suspended in a subgame is still suspended in the main game when the subgame ends.

Quote from: Clariax
When the subgame ends, the cards in the subgame removed from game zone become part of the main game removed from game zone, so you have a removed card with suspend, with time counter on it, so it's suspended and triggers as normal  (as per rule 506.6)
