Their two close wins were their lull; they come back by stomping the Steelers at home. The 2nd half wasn't even close, Belichick reconfigured the gameplan and they shut them out for 30 minutes.
Aging LB core my ass.

Aging is the negative way to say "experienced". Bruschi leads the team in tackles.
Although the game was fun to watch. Pittsburgh's O-Line fell apart in the second half. How else do you describe a 325 pound man walking through the front of the line to bowl over the quarterback?
At the end, they only hitting that they seemed able to do was a cheap shot on a punt that went out of bounds. Brady threw to Welker 5 times in a row and made a bunch of first downs.

Their LB corps IS aging. Parker ran all over the Patriots - it just didn't matter because the vaunted Steelers defense gave up 34 points and a boatload of yards. Addai also had a field day with the Patriots defense. It's possible to actually run the ball on that team, and their CBs aren't as good as people think.
That being said, you do have to do a lot of work to keep up with that offense. The only team balanced enough in the AFC to play with them is Indianapolis, and if they meet in the AFC Championship game (which I honestly expect) then it will be another really close game. Indy simply isn't afraid of New England anymore. Sure, New England won, but that game was THE game of the year. And I'm willing to bet that the rematch will be just as good.

Hey all, 'Been talking to our coach Brad Childress here in Minnesota recently, he wanted me to inform everyone in the TMD community that 2005 1st round draft pick Troy Williamson is now up for trade. The current high bid is a cheese sandwich + two rubberbands. If you are interested, drop me a PM. Oh, and wow @ the patriots. Those guys dominate and need to be on the restricted list. It also makes me real happy to see that Randy Moss has decided to start blocking to help his team out, because he sure didn't for us or Oakland. wtf.

I really want to go through these 6 pages and quote all the Pats naysayers, but that would take way too much time.
Hooray for Pitt losing at home AGAIN - Boo for the Pats having to play against a tough running team.

I like the Pats over the Giants for 4 reasons: 1. Tom Brady in warm climate controlled area should get the offense back to easy mode. 2. The Giants are choke artists, the Packers just managed to choke harder. Seriously, Brett Farve throwing that INT in overtime, all those fumbled kickoffs, the kicker completely shanking the go ahead winning FG with time expiring. That stuff might have flown against the Pack, but the Patriots make you pay for your mistakes like that. 3. The only thing capable of making the Patriots choke in a big game is Reche "Butterfingers" Caldwell. With Caldwell safely tucked away on the 'Skins roster there's nothing to worry about. 4. The Patriots have already beaten the Giants, twice if you count the preseason.

The giants played the patriots in week 17. The giants said it's a football game lets win. The patriots said, holy fucking shit it's history lets win. They only won by a field goal also. The giants had home field disadvantage tho, so the superb owl should be more interesting. The giants can't please the fans, but will come to your house, beat you, and move on to someone else's house.

Pick any number between 1 and about 2000. I'll bet that amount against the Giants.

The line on the game is 13 at present, which I simply don't see. 7, sure. 10? Entirely possible. 13? That's basically saying 'Okay Giants, you are terrible. Die thanks.', which isn't borne out by the 38-35 season finale.

The spread has nothing to do with how good the Giants are, or how much they're going to lose by. It's simply the bookies balancing their books. You're not going to get much action on the Giants + 7. 13 on the other hand is much harder to bet on. I wouldn't want to touch that bet personally, and I'd say if you talked to a random pool of fans, you'd see significant action on both sides. The Pat's might blow them out, or they might win by a last second field goal. Eli is has matured tremendously, and the Giants know they can hang with the Pats. I personally expect it to be a very good game, but I wouldn't bet on it

Giants are easy money here, especially if you can get -14. Pats haven't covered the spread in what? Last 8 weeks or so?
The only reasonable explanation, since the Giants hung with the Pats in the last encounter, is that you'd think it's a Legacy type game where the other team just gets blown out completely. However if you consider the margins the pats have been winning by and the type of drives they've switched too late in games, I think the line is simply the Pats tax for the people who only remember the first half of the season.

In the last 6 games of the regular season, the Pats beat the spread 3 times.
Miami by 21 Pitts by 21 Buff by 46
The Pats are definitely capable of covering the 14 with the Giants, it's just a question of if it will happen.

The trend with Pats games is that if the weather is cold and windy, then they can't rely on Brady to stomp other teams. Due to the fact that the Super Bowl is not held in an arctic wasteland, then the spread should not be a problem.

This is actually wrong. Las Vegas had the lines at -22.5 for the Miami game.

Correct on Miami, but the point remains. New England can blow out a team by 14 or more on any given Sunday.

The big difference is that their opponents in the past few weeks had the bright idea to consistently double-team Moss and leave the run open and the short pass open. Maroney has had a very good past few games, as has Welker and Faulk.
The Patriots are now playing like the Pats of old. They are getting away from Brady-to-Moss 50 yard bombs and getting back to "throw to the open receiver" and "give their opponents all the yardage they want, but keep them from putting up points". Part of that is clamping down in the red zone, and part of that is their offense making life hard for the opposing offense. When you need to outscore an offense that is having a career year combined with a very good defense, you need to go for TDs instead of just kicking FGs.
I think that the Super Bowl will be competitive, but there is no doubt in my mind that the Pats will win it. And it will be mildly humorous to see them win by a FG once again, although I think that they'll win by 10 with the score ending as 31-21.

Giants defense 1, Patriots offense <1. Brady's going to get himself killed if his offensive line can't block Tuck and Strahan.
Now if the Giants offense remembers to not punt the game away, then this is doable.

NOT THE CASE.
17-14. Plaxico Burress doesn't look like an idiot now for saying that the Patriots offense would score 'only' 17 points. Also:
