I'm moving from St. Louis to Cambridge in couple weeks and I'm wondering who the Vintage/Legacy players are in the area.  I know there are regular Eternal tournaments in New England, but I'm also looking for a place to play weekly tournaments or playtest.

Well, look at results from Myriad/ELD/Hadley/Feinstein tournaments to see who the names are...you should notice a lot of repeats.

Myriad (NH/MA border) is probably about an hour to your north, and Disposable Heroes (outside Providence RI) is about an hour to the south. I know DH has a pretty healthy draft/Type 2/FNM scene, with a few Vintage players frequenting it as well. I know there are stores closer than that, but I really don't know what their Eternal scenes look like.

Personally, I haven't been able to play much recently, but when I do, I usually go to DH.

I'll definitely be going to several tournaments around the area, but I'm hoping I can also find a couple good players to playtest with on a semi-regular basis.  I'm not sure exactly where everyone lives.

Unfortunately, I'm a little older than that.  I'm starting a postdoc at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Well for players in the area: Grand Inquisitor lives in Cambridge, AdulahtheButcher lives near it, myself and others are a couple hours away from Boston, Feinstein is near the area along with Myriadgames crew, ELD, a vast host of others.  New England magic ftw, yet New England weather ftl.

Myself and a few of my teammates live in Boston and the surrounding area. The city itself sucks for stores. You can go to YMG Sommerville where, if you're lucky, you can add your name to the waiting list for table space. It's not as bad as it seems though, you can have Darwin Kastle sign your avalanche riders if he's not busy scratching the rash on his arm. I'm not aware of a single vintage player who plays there.

When I do go to play magic I make the drive out to Johnston RI for Disposable Heroes. If you have a car I'd suggest you do the same.

I've never actually been there, but I've heard good things about Scholars in Fall River.

TJ Collectibles in Milford is an awesome store IMO, but lacks any vintage scene whatsoever.

As for the tournament scene, if you feel like driving Feinstein has held some events at DH in the past and may continue to do so in the future. Myriad Games holds regular tourneys if you feel like driving up to NH and ELD holds tournaments in various places from time to time. Not to mention Waterbury, I hear those are good too.

Just a small clarification, Scholars is actually the name of the off-campus bookstore at Bridgewater State in Bridgewater. They used to hold unlimited proxy tournaments every Monday night for store credit, it was pretty cool. They may still run them, idk, but I haven't been in at least two years. It was more of a store that sold cards than a card store.

The card store in Fall River is called Stillpoint. The store has been around the area for ages, moving from location to location. I've always been happy with them. Their new one has a ton a play space and is quite nice, and the owners are great guys. I'm pretty sure they have a good FNM scene, but I'm not really sure about anything else. Unless there's something I'm not aware of though (which is entirely possible, I've only been there a few times), DH is closer and more active, so that's your better bet.

There's a place called Pandemonium in Central Square in Cambridge that has a strong (>20) FNM crowd for draft.  I used to go, until Lorwyn came out because I can't stand Lorwyn.  Anyway, if you want to hang out and test sometime there, gimme a hollar.

I don't mean to necro this thread, but I am in Cambridge now, and I want to go to the Myriad Games tournament on Saturday.  If anyone in the area would like to meet sometime this week to playtest, I would be interested.

Informal casual game (aka vintage testing) at Pandemonium this Wednesday around 6-7.  If you wear a strap on meandeck.dec you can probably bumm a ride.

I don't really know what that means, but that's ok because I shouldn't need a ride.  See you there.
